Chapter 14-The world wont change

We slowly retraced our steps back to the Moon Flower Sect. We carried the bodies of Adam and Faust with us. I was carrying Adam's while Leonard was carrying Faust's. We tried to convince him to let us carry his brother but he refused.

During our walk down the mountain path I glanced at Leonard. His messy brown hair covered his eyes and I couldn't see them. But I knew what look he had in his eyes. It was a look of emptiness, like he had lost a part of himself.

As we walked I tried to imagine how I would react if somebody was to kill my mother or sister. If I knew who the murderer was then I would dedicate my entire being to finding and killing them. But Adam was already dead. Leonard had nobody to take his rage out on.

  ...

We finally reached the gates of the Moon Flower Sect. A massive wooden door guarded by 2 cultivators. Once they saw we were approaching and carrying bodies one of them rushed over to us.

  "What happened?" He asked.

"We encountered the traitor Adam but one of us got killed in the fight." I explained.

The guard's face instantly changed. He looked at us for a moment before turning around and rushing back to the other guard.

He relayed the situation to him. The other guard nodded and then they opened the door for us to enter. We walked through the door and into the sect itself.

We walked towards the academy and the Elder walked out as well. He had no doubt heard the news of our arrival.

He greeted us with a serious expression.

No words were exchanged between us. I slowly put Adam's body on the ground and it was promptly picked up by the Elder's assistants.

Leonard also put Faust's body down and it was picked up by other assistants.

Right as Leonard was about to turn away I grabbed him by the shoulder.

Suprised, he turned to me and looked me in the eyes.

"Let's go to the battlegrounds." I said.

  "Why?"

"I want you to understand something." I said.

Leonard was confused by my choice of words but was also intrigued by them. He nodded and we both started walking towards the battlegrounds.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

Alice, noticing our exchange, silently followed us.

  ...

We finally made it to the wide open arena. I looked at the pristine blue sky and took a deep breath.

"It's so peaceful." I though to myself.

I then turned to Leonard before I could be distracted by the beauty of the world.

"So why are we here?" He asked.

I smiled before quickly taking on a fighting stance.

Leonard was shocked for a moment but immediately understood. He also got into a battle stance.

The air was still. Nothing was moving. We were both waiting for the other to make the first move. I decided to be the one to make that move.

I formed a sphere of wind in my right hand.

I then shot it out. Leonard formed a wind sphere of his own and shot it towards mine. The spheres collided and caused a light breeze to spread across the arena.

I rushed forward and then after a few steps I jumped into the air. While in the air I extended my right hand to create and shot out a wind sphere. After the sphere was formed I shot it at Leonard.

He dodged to his right. However I was prepared. While creating the wind sphere just now I was also forming one in my other hand but hadn't shot it out yet. I twisted my wrist in a specific fashion and shot out the wind sphere which sent me flying towards Leonard.

I landed on my legs and instantly pounced towards Leonard. I had now moved into close range. I started throwing punch after punch at Leonard, not giving him a chance to rest. He was overwhelmed but tried to keep his guard up. However due to my relentless attacks his guard was quickly broken and my punches started to connect with his head, chest and neck.

He lost his balance and fell to the ground. I stopped my attack and looked down. He slowly got up. He looked at me.

  "I still don't get why we're here."

  I smiled and crouched down.

"I have attempted to imagine what I would do if one of my family members got killed by somebody. My solution is always to just kill the murderer and get revenge. But for you it's not so simple. Adam is already dead. You have nobody to take your anger out on." I explained.

He frowned when hearing my words. He clearly didn't want to remember his brother's death.

I opened my mouth once again.

"There is actually one person you can blame and take anger out on...yourself."

Leonard was a bit shocked when he heard my words but then he though about it for a moment and agreed with them. He was the one to blame. He couldn't save Faust due to how weak he was.

I then punched him in the head.

"Ahhh what the fuck was that for." He screamed in protest while scratching the back of his head.

"You were just blaming yourself for what happened weren't you?" I asked.

"I was but why did you have to hit me for that." He screamed out again.

"Listen very carefully to my next words." I said.

Leonard's gaze froze and his concentration increased in an instant.

  "Get over it." I said.

Leonard was silent. He couldn't believe what he had just heard. As he was about to scream out in protest once again he was interrupted by me.

"Just cause you're sad doesn't mean you have an excuse for not living life to the fullest. Why aren't you training hard to become a stronger cultivator like you said you would? Why are you just wasting your time wallowing in sadness? Do something. Anything. The world isn't going to become a better place just cause you want it to. You have to make it a better place through your own efforts and struggles."

  Leonard once again turned silent.

He contemplated my words deeply. He then revealed a smile on his face.

  "Thank you." He said.

He then stood up and suddenly got into a battle stance.

"Let's go for another round." He said.

I smiled and also got into a battle stance like him.

"Let's go." I said in a joyful voice
