Chapter 29

Daphne slowly blinked her eyes open, the soft, golden light of the false sun beginning to fill the room. She felt warm—almost too warm—but fortable. As she stirred, she noticed a soft resistance against her movement, something soft ale pressed close to her. Blinking a few more times, she turned her head and froze.

Luna was led beside her, her blonde hair gleaming in the soft m light like strands of spun gold. Her serene face eaceful, lips slightly parted in sleep, and Daphne had to admit, she looked absolutely breathtaking. It almost felt unreal how the events of the previous night had unfolded so well. Dinner with her family had been... surprisingly pleasant.

Still, as she y there, Daphne’s mind wandered. I wonder what my parents think of Harry... she mused quietly to herself.

“They're skeptical of him because they think he’s human,” Luna muttered sleepily, her voice muffled as she shifted closer, ing her arms around Daphne. “Now shush. Snuggle.”

Daphne’s breath caught ihroat as Luna pulled her into a sleepy embrace, the warmth radiatiween them. She blinked, caught betweerangeness of the situation and the overwhelming sense of fort that ed around her like a b. Hesitant at first, she sighed, allowing herself to rex into the hug.

Well, this is nehhought to herself, but she couldn't deny that it felt... nice.

Meanwhile, Harry was already up before the fake sun had fully risen, stretg his limbs as he prepared for his m training. Luna had slipped out of their guest room sometime during the night, which was fine by him—he could guess she was with Daphne, and holy, he didn't mind the idea. Two immortal blonde wives? Who was he to pin? Although, Daphne wasn’t quite immortal yet.

Harry stepped out into the open courtyard, where the castle’s knights were already training. The air was cool but not biting, the kind of brisk m that felt refreshing rather than cold. He looked up, notig the way the false sun was beginning to climb into the sky. It was easier to tell it wasn’t real now, especially after Luna had poi out to him. The fake sky cked the natural glow that Earth’s sunrise had, where the clouds would catch the light before the sun broke the horizon. (A/ime to watch a rocket unch.)

Still, it was a fasating illusion—ving enough to almost fet you were in the Underworld if you weren’t paying attention.

"Time for some exercise," Harry muttered to himself, rolling his shoulders as he approached a group of knights training with swords in the courtyard. Maybe he’d join them for a sparring session, work up a sweat, could be fun… Was he being like Luna? Meh, He could use the distra.

Harry rolled his shoulders, feeling the familiar tension ease as he approached the group of knights. The g of steel on steel echoed across the courtyard, the devils in mid-training, their movements fluid but heavy with purpose. It was hard not to admire the precision in their bat skills, the dedication to honing their craft, even if it was all muscle memory at this point.

One of the knights caught sight of Harry and gave a questioning nod. Without hesitation, Harry retur and stepped forward.

"Mind if I join?" Harry asked, his tone light but the challenge clear.

The knight grinned, showing sharp teeth. “If you think you keep up, human.”

Ah, that again, Harry thought, a smile tugging at the er of his lips. It seemed everyone here still assumed he was just an ordinary human. They’d learn soon enough.

The knight tossed him a practice sword, its weight settling fortably in Harry’s hand. “Is magic allowed?” Harry asks

“Sure but no foci,” The devil responds with a smile.

Harry's smile widened as he gripped the practice sword more firmly, feeling its weight settle in his hand. "No foci? Fair enough."

The knight grinned, clearly expeg an easy fight despite Harry's rexed demeanor. "Let’s see what you've got, human."

Harry took advantage of his and opened up with a DASH it had almost looked like fast line of sight teleportation. All it took was a simple wing at medium strength and the devil was on the ground hodling his head in pain.

The knight hit the ground hard, clutg his head in disbelief. The onlasped, their expressiing from shock to fusion as they tried to prehend what had just happened. Harry stood there, practice sword in hand, not even winded, his eyes calm but sharp.

“Too fast?” Harry asked, his voice casual as if he hadn’t just id out a seasoned devil knight in a single move.

The knight groaned, still reeling from the blow, and tried to push himself back up. "What... what was that?" he muttered, clearly dazed.

Harry extended a hand to help him up, still smiling. “That was me holding back, mate.”

The knight blinked, staring at Harry’s hand for a moment before accepting the help. He stumbled to his feet, still looking as though he had seen a ghost. “I… I didn’t even see you move.”

Harry shrugged, sheathing the practice sword behind his back, and it disappeared as it was stored in his ons iory. “You’ll get used to it.”

The courtyard had gone pletely silent, the other knights clearly reassessing their assumptions about the "human" standing in their midst. Some looked wary, others intrigued, but all of them were now watg Harry closely.

“So, which of you is !” Harry shouts with a grin

  =====================

Daphne gazed out the window at the courtyard below, her eyes narrowing slightly as she watched Harry effortlessly dismantle a seasoned devil knight. She had always known he owerful, more than anyone here could have anticipated, but seeing him in a was something else entirely. A flicker of pride crossed her face, quickly masked by a thoughtful frown.

She tensed for just a moment before rexing as Luna's familiar warmth enveloped her. The steady rise and fall of Luna's breath, the weight of her arms ed snugly around her from behind, and the gentle pressure of her resting on Daphne’s shoulder made her feel grounded.

“Watg Harry show off, are we?” Luna's voice was soft and pyful, though there was a knowing undercurrent to it. She squeezed Daphighter, and for a sed, Daphne's heart skipped a beat—Satan, did Luna know what she did to her?

Daphne sighed, her firag idle patterns on the cold gss. “You’re right... It’s just... there’s so much they don’t know yet. About him. About you.”

Luna's embrace tightened slightly, pulling Daphne closer. “They’ll learn in time. And they’ll realize that Harry’s more than just powerful. He’s kind, loyal—the best husban. Just like you will the best wife. I love my herd so much.”

Daphurned her head, meeting Luna’s gaze. “And you? They think you’re a bedtime story.”

Luna smirked, her eyes gleaming mischievously. “I like to keep them guessing.”

A soft ugh escaped Daphne, some of the tension easing from her shoulders. “You really enjoy this, don’t you?”

Luna’s eyes sparkled with mischief. “Oh, absolutely. It’s fun to surprise people—especially whehink they’ve got it all figured out.” She leaned in, pnting a soft kiss on Daphne’s cheek before stepping back, her wings fluttering into view for just a moment before disappearing once more.

“You’re impossible,” Daphtered, though a small smile tugged at her lips despite herself.

“And you love me for it,” Luna replied, grinning, beflomping her with another pyful hug.

A scream pierced the air, jolting Daphne from her thoughts. She turned back to the window, her eyes widening as she took in the se below. Harry stood triumphantly in the ter of the courtyard, a broad grin pstered across his face. Around him y three defeated devils sprawled on the soft grass, their expressions a mix of shod disbelief.

Luna peeked over Daphne's shoulder, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “God, I love him.”

Daphne winced, and Luna quickly mirrored her expression. “I am so sorry; I fot,” Luna muttered, biting her lip in apology.

“I five you. Although I want another kis—” Daphne began, only to be cut off by Luna pressing her lips against hers.

Luna pulled back, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “So, how did we do at di night, and what’s the pn for today?” she asked, seemingly unfazed by the stunned silehat hung in the air or the sounds of bat outside.

Daphne shook her head, trying tain her focus. “Dinner was... surprisingly good. My parents were skeptical at first, but I think they were more focused on you. With Harry showing off like this m, I don’t think there’s much to worry about. All that's left is getting rid of the fiancé, and we’ll be set,” she replied with a sigh.

Suddenly, Luna flipped Daphne over, straddling her and gazing off into the distah a dreamy look in her eyes. “Ruval Phenex? Really? You could’ve done so much better. Not that it matters; no false firebird is stealing my herd mate,” she decred, looking down at Daphne, who was now sp a deep blush.

  “Luna!” Daphne shouted, mortified.

Just then, the door burst open as Valeria rushed in, only to halt at the sight of the two on the bed. “I’m so sorry! I’ll be back ter!” she excimed, quickly retreating out the door.

“It’s not what it looks like!” Daphne called after her, her face burning an atomic red with embarrassment as she tried to gather her thoughts.

Luna suddenly burst out giggling the pair turo look out side and saw Harry who was ughing merrily outside besting all who came at him.
