Chapter 2: I Just Want to be an NPC

Why did it come to this?

Ever since I beat Florian, I've been getting stuck in so much trouble! AI Turo gave ownership of Miraidon over to me, Nemona asked me to do the Gym Challenge, Cassiopeia (Penny) asked me to defeat Team Star and Arven told me to fight the Titans! I'm not the Pyer, so what am I supposed to do?

As of now, I have three things working for me. Firstly, my knowledge over the original story progression of Pokemon Violet. In the game, the Pyer defeats Team Star and Penny, defeats the Titans and heals Arven's Mabosstiff, and becomes a champion after defeating Geeta with Nemona's encouragement. After this, AI Turo asks the Pyer to defeat him and stop the Time Machine. However, since this is now real life, i'm not sure how things will turn out. Firstly, I don't know the chronological order of the games, and thus I might have to deal with Team Psma as well. Since Unova is our close neighbour, if I'm not careful I'll get roped into that mess. Not only that, but there's also the Crown Tundra (which is to the north of us) and the events of the Teal Mask and Indigo Disk. The second thing is my knowledge of the type chart. Through my years of addiction, I can memorise every single type advantage, disadvantage and immunity. The third thing is my knowledge about the teams of important enemies. While I don't know much about teams from regions other than Paldea, and not those from the DLC, I can still prepare for most major battles.

Well, at the very least it seems like my knowledge of the story progression is still serving me well, as I am now staring at a giant crab. The Stony Cliff Titan, Kwf.

While in the game, this was an easy fight, this is the real world. Not only do I have to guide my pokemon through the attacks, I also have to make sure I don't get hit, because those rocks look like they could give anyone a concussion if I'm not careful. Also, unlike the Pyer, I have no plot armour, so Arven isn't going to help me anytime soon.

I decided to send out Formu the Cyclizar. Magikarp was probably close to evolution, but I can't be sure. Formu had recently learned Breaking Swipe, which lowers the target's attacks and also gains extra damage from STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus), which means it's currently my most reliable move. Not only that, but Cyclizar has the highest stats out of all my pokemon. I'm currently riding on Miraidon, making sure to avoid the rocks whilst calling out directions. Of course, I'm not sure if STAB still applies in this world, but from a gamer perspective, it definitely should be doing something.

Luckily, this isn't a game, which means there's more than one way to win.

'Shine, keep using Mud Shot on the cliff face!'

Mud Shot is an attack that shoots, well, mud at the target. In the game, this wasn't an effective attack, but here, it can cause some serious damage.

The Titan, backed into a corner by repeated Breaking Swipes from Formu, slips on one of the mud puddles that Formu created. It then proceeded to break apart the cliff, creating a cave. Normally, it would consume some herba mystica and grow stronger, but since I already know where the cave would be...

It slipped. Again. I had already asked Shine to use Mud Shot there as well, so it had no chance. After that was a simple process of getting Formu to keep hitting it. Meanwhile, I called Arven.

  'Heya bud, how's it going?'

'I just defeated the Open Cliff Titan, so get over here.'

A few minutes ter, Arven was here and ready to make some sandwiches.

Since there was also the Herba Mystica that the Titan should have eaten, I pocketed that just in case.

Arven's sandwiches were apparently extremely tasty in the game, so I was quite excited. This time, we had acquired some sweet herba mystica, so he made a sweet jam and fruit sandwich. When it entered my mouth, I understood why Arven's sandwiches were so well acimed.

The sweetness of the jam combined with the cool of the fruit made the subtle taste of the Herba Mystica shine, creating a whirlpool of sweetness that sucked me deeper and deeper into the depths of ecstasy. It was profoundly delectable as well. It tasted so wonderful that I found tears rolling down my eyes.

I gave half of my sandwich to Miraidon, and it ate it greedily. Normally, I'd hate to do this, but I had a reason. In the game, Herba Mystica unlocked special movement abilities for Miraidon or Koraidon. The sweet herba mystica would allow me to dash. This would be extremely helpful in both movement and dodging attacks.

After that, I said my goodbyes to Arven and headed on my not-so-merry way. My next destination was Cortondo, of the pastries and bugs. It was home to the first gym leader Katie, who should not be too difficult.
