Chapter 20: Long Awaited Discussion

  A couple of days ter.

  *brrrt brrrt brrrt*

  *Yawn*

"It's m already, haa." I thought aloud as my arm was bring at my bedside.

I wish I had a few more hours to sleep in, but today's a big day si's time I've fronted dad along with Amata's father, the overseer about my future pns to ve from the safe fines of Vault 101 into the wastend finally. Which they should be more than well aware of because I've been hinting at it for years now. I wouldn't have sidered doing that if the overseer wasn't airely different person pared to his bat shit insane psychotic tyrant terpart from Fallout 3.

Thankfully, for his sake and mine, he was a genuinely good man, otherwise I could very well picture myself having to do something brutal that had a good ce of destroying my and Amata's retionship. Moving on from that, I also o have a discussion with everyone about dad's pns of secretly leaving the vault all of a sudden to work on project purity. That will ultimately end up with him getting himself killed by the Encve, so that will o be discussed and resolved as well.

With the two topiow selected for today's discussion, I spent the several seds pting and thinking about what I could use to vih dad and Amata's father to let me veo the wastend. The moment I had a det number of ideas in my head, I decided it was time to get up.

Alright, it's time I got up and got dressed because Amata will be arriving here soon enough for breakfast with her dad since I had asked her t him along with her for today's discussion. My dad will also be joining us for breakfast as well due to him having his day off today and him being one of the matters involved in this versation, so everyohat o be here will be here for today's discussion.

After spending a few minutes getting ready, I opened my door and strode into the living room and greeted dad who was in the process of making himself a cup of joe. "M, old man. Did you sleep well?"

"M, son, and yes, I did. How about you?" He said to me as I took a seat on the living room couch.

"Very, and yoing to , haha."

"What's that supposed to mean, you rascal?"

We joked around for a couple of minutes until his coffee was finished being dispensed. So he grabbed his hot cup and joined me sitting on the couch. When around a minute had passed, I brought up that I had something important to discuss today and that Amata and her father, the overseer, would be joining us today as well, sihey were needed for this discussion.

Once I was done going over what was going to happen today, his face immediately ged tned look before he sighed and said. "Haaa, I khis day was ing. I was just hoping you would have held off for a few more years, son."

"Well, dad, I've been hinting at it for years now and I've been more and more btant as of te, so you khe time was fast approag."

He sighed again and tinued. "Haa, still I would've preferred if you had waited till you were 18 to have this discussion."

"Well, if I had, you would've been gone by that time since I know you still have the desire to finish your and mom's dream ing pure fresh non-irradiated water to the wastend." I responded, while his face morphed into a guilty look.

As he was about to respond, I tinued. "Let's hold off on tinuing this discussion until the other relevant people join us, and when they do and we have this talk of ours. I have a couple of things to point out with how your and mom's dream would ruly ge mud bring about any major ge to the wastend. Other than it being a small blimp in time before things returo as they were." I said stly, causing a look of ption to appear on his face.

With dad informed of today's big event, we went back to rexing on the couch chatting about a bunch of varying topics for several minutes wheually detected Amata and her father ing down the hallway nearing ever closer to the entrance of our home.

  "Okay, they're nearing our home, dad. We better get up a ready to greet them at the door." I told him while he had a questioning look on his fabsp;

"How do you know that son?" He questioned with a puzzled look which then immediately switched to an aha look after I gave him a look.

"Ahh, that's right, your special perception ability." He said stly while I gave him a nod in response.

Now that my father's memory was jogged, I got up from the coud headed for the entrance of our home with dad in tow to greet Amata and her father. Going through the typical formalities, we ihem inside, but as we were inviting them inside, I noticed dad giving the overseer a certain look, which he responded in kind with a knowing look of his own and an almost unnoticeable nod. Following that, everyo seated at the table for the delicious breakfast I was going to prepare for the four of us.

As soon as both my dad and Amata's father were seated, I went into the kit and started preparing the meal with Amata's assistance. A while ter we had everything hot ready, hence we pted it and began ferrying dishes out of the kit and to the table. Once everything ced at the table, my assistant and I took our seats, joining our dads.

Around the 45-minute mark, everyone was finished and stuffed from the rge breakfast Amata and I had just prepared, so I decided the moment had e to have our talk about what I pn on doing iure. Along with the couple of other things I o cover, as well.

With my mind made up, I began the discussion.

"Is everyoisfied with breakfast?" I asked, which received a resounding answer of satisfa in response.

"As you all probably know, I have something important to discuss with you all and you probably know very well what that is si's been a long time ing." I said, which everyoantly o, with Amata additionally having the beginnings of a sad and upset facial expression ing on.

"And as you, all may have guessed I pn to leave the vault at some point iure and that point is actually about two years from now since my body should have reached full maturity by then from my estimations and at that time I should have made more than enough preparations by then to guarantee my safety against most dangers in the wastend." I tinued before adding my reasoning.

"As for the reasons why I want to ve into the wastend, I've been having visions of danger ing to the vault as well as my father when he decides it's a good idea to leave the vault without telling aher than Jonas Palmer when I reach the age of 18." I said immediately garnering an upset look from the overseer that was obviously directed at my dear ole dad.

The vision part of my reasoning is a bit of a lie, but they don't o know that.

I paused for a brief sed and expined further. "The danger I'm talking about is the fover of the Uates, aremely fearsome and teologically advanced group known as the Ehis powerful anization is i on eliminating basically all human life besides those not affected by radiation and those not belonging to their group."

"If that was all they were about the vault wouldn't be in any danger presumably but this group is involved in all sorts of reprehensible activities from svery and forced bor to human experimentation and sughter of etlements and groups of people if they are in possession of something they want. So if this group was to ever set their sights on the vault, there would be little we could do given the vault's current capabilities."

"How would they get past the vault door, Harold? I 't think of any feasible way of getting past that monster of a bst door with whatever remnants of teology they possess." The overseer asked skeptically.

"This secretive anization has survived aed well before the bombs dropped, so they are more than capable of breag the defenses of the vault if I'm going by what I've seen in my visions. They are in trol of orbital on ptforms that drop nukes ahey desire in the wastend, for Christ's sake. So if I'm being totally ho here, this force would have no issue with breaking through the vault's main door and killing most of, if not all, the residents of the vault if they so pleased."

"Due to just that singur reason alone, I'm not willing to risk letting any of the people I've grown to care about over the years here within this vault e face to face with a dahat I could've easily prevented given my current capabilities that are stantly improving as time goes by."

"Adding on to that, if my gut feeling is right, which I'm sure it is, heading out before they start making major moves in the capital wastend will increase my capabilities at a drastically accelerated rate. Meaning that if anything ends up happening, I should be more than capable of dealing with them, ensuring everyone's safety." I added on top of everything I said previously.

"And before any of you try to refute me on my visions, you are all very well aware I'm not a normal human by any definition of the word due to me showing you all numerous abilities any normal human couldn't possibly possess since I arrived here at Vault 101 as a baby all those years ago with my father."

"So, because of my abilities, I'm certain those visions could e true. Hence why I o head out into the wastend to deal with the Encve before they cause any irreversible damage." I said stly with a serious facial expression worn on my face as I looked at everyohered at the table.
