Since Mal is very similar to Eva and Mel, Gaia immediately felt comfortable with his energy. He felt like home (family member). At least what Gaia has come to know as “home.” She didn’t know that she was in a toxic environment since she has never been able to compare home to anything else. Her environment made sure that anything opposite of “home” or “normal” was not to be trusted. Gaia became wary of strangers, visitors, and anything that was nice to her since their intentions were evil. That’s what her family told her, so that’s what Gaia viewed as normal. People asked Mal all the time if his name was pronounced with an E (Mel) or an A (Mal). He learned that Mike was a safe choice for a nickname so people didn’t have to question his name. Mike (short for Michael) was trusted by most people so he used that to his advantage. People didn’t need to know his real name, so he preferred Mike instead of Mel. If people asked his real name, he would tell them Michael. That immediately stopped the nosy questions.

  Since Gaia and Mel were karmic soulmates, they were together before in many lifetimes. Their energies feels familiar since they are not new to each other. Just reincarnated versions of their old selves. Many people mistake karmics with twin flames since they often start out the same way. Karmics need to prove that they are the perfect match to be chosen (demons) and twin flames know who their match is so they don’t have anything to prove (angels).

  Mal and Gaia have been in that dynamic before: master (Mal) and slave (Gaia). Sadist (Mal) and masochist (Gaia). While it worked out for Mal having all of the control and Gaia voluntarily giving hers up, it was always one-sided. Mal was always the master and Gaia was always the slave. Mal couldn’t imagine having to put up with what he put Gaia through, and Gaia couldn’t imagine putting someone through what Mal put her through. But they both volunteered to incarnate to experience the dynamic, so there were no victims since they both chose it. It got to the point where Gaia got tired of always being Mal’s slave. She didn’t agree or volunteer to incarnate as Mal’s slave anymore since she already learned from that experience. Mal, however, never got to experience being someone’s slave and relinquishing all control to someone else. That is something that he is afraid of experiencing.
