Mill dropped down to a knee, using one of her fists to keep her from sinking any lower. Looking up, she glared at the 100 ft. monster crackling with insane amounts of energy. The last blast from the fiend had nearly taken her down, and she didn’t have strength to move fast enough to dodge the next attack that was surely to come. With no defining features, the massive energy-like being had a humanoid shape but lacked any edges or corners. Despite how idiotic it looked; Milli could not deny that it would surely destroy the world.
Glancing to her sides, she could see that both Adrok and Elrin were also nearly down for the count. She grimaced as she finally got to her feet and stood up. The monster, Genesis, sensing her renewing energy and subsequent rebellious emotion along with it, immediately reacted with a powerful blast of energy that would wipe her from existence. Bracing herself for the inevitable, she nearly fell backward in surprise as a massive wall of ice suddenly formed in front of her blocking the powerful blast if only for a brief moment.
Lucina tackled Milli from the side taking herself and the giantess out of the disentigrating blast. “This isn’t like you Captain!” Lucina said with a pained smile as she quickly got up from the ground, extending a hand to help Milli up. “I don’t have much left in me.” Lucina stated as she rolled her shoulder, the brave Fereece was battered and covered in bruises. Her arm had been burned and she was breathing heavily. Both women were on their last leg.
“Here.” Milli said as she tossed a small red vial to her comrade. “It’s not much, but this will help.”
Grabbing the vial out of the air Lucina chuckled, pain radiating through her chest as she did so. “We’re going save the world with a single disgusting cherry flavored potion?”
Also not wanting to laugh due to pain, Milli forced herself to join in with a chuckle wanting to keep morale as high as possible as she and Lucina quickly downed the sickly overly cherry flavored liquid and tossed the vials aside. The liquid quickly acted, helping to dull the pain from their current injuries. Both of them felt a slight renewal of strength as the pain subsided. Each readied their weapon.
“You know it’s going to start attacking again once it senses our intent.” Lucina said as she looked at the creature.
“What’s the plan?” Milli asked as she watched flares of energy erupt from Genesis and land on the ground taking the shape of a malformed hound.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Lucina let out a large sigh, “It can’t tell what were about to do, so it’s summoning those stupid amalgamations to force us to act.”
“Would it be possible to take it down if managed to pierce what I assume is its core?” Milli reasoned as she stared at the bright almost sun-like radiance that emanated deep within the monster.
“I don’t have any other ideas. Nothing else has seemed to work.”
Both women knew that they were nearly out of strength, they didn’t have the energy to fight all of the monsters. Running towards the goliath mass of energy, they neared the creatures.
Grabbing a large chunk of earth from the ground while she ran, Milli launched the mass straight ahead barreling through whatever happened to be in its way. Creating a brief but narrow path through the freaky things.
Lucina took point right behind the boulder. Speed was the only thing she had to stay alive. If they slowed down their advance even a little, they would be overwhelmed. Using her smaller stature to her advantage, Lucina was able to more easily cut at the leg-like appendages from the creatures while creating pillars of ice here and there to knock what she missed aside. She needed to help Milli get to Genesis.
“Are they going to do it?” Adrok gasped between pained breaths as he finally stood up, helping Elrin as well. “We need to back them up.”
“How? They are already so far ahead of us.” Elrin panted as he looked at the courageous charge.
“Let’s grab Genesis attention.” Adrok said as he unleashed a massive terrifying black beam of darkness hitting Genesis squarely. Although the powerful attack had hardly any effect, Adrok couldn’t help but feel a sense of dread wash over him as the faceless monstrosity looked directly at him.
The two started booking it in the same direction as a sizzling blast of energy combusted the area leaving nothing but dirt and ash. “This is insanity!” Elrin shouted as the two continued running as fast as they could despite the aching pain from previous attacks, narrowly staying ahead of the deadly blasts. This time, Elrin released a ray of bright light also having little effect on Genesis.
Despite the dark cloudy area, the group was fighting, Both women recognized the familiar insanely powerful blasts of light that illuminated the entire field. “Seems Elrin and Adrok are trying to keep this creature distracted. We can’t let them down!” Milli shouted as she bashed an amalgamation into a spray of energized goo.
Lucina deftly moved through the swarming creatures creating walls of ice and firing off large icicles impaling those that were still in front of her. She was doing the best she could to clear a way for Milli so her ally could preserve as much strength as possible for the final strike.
As they neared Genesis, the remaining amalgamations were pulled into a single point in front of the women creating what seemed to be a miniature figure of the very monster they were trying to kill. Although miniature, the faux Genesis still stood well over 10 ft. tall and had long lashing tentacles for arms. It unleashed a destructive beam of energy from its head forcing the two to break away and flank the creature.
