The Lost Vampire System Chapter 4 - The Only Group of Six

  Jareth and Damion stood next to each other patiently waiting for their names to be called. Since they had just met, they were still nervous around each other. Just as Jareth was about to ask something, he heard five names get called out.

  Robert shouted the names, “Jareth Nightshade, Madison Budak, Henry Peterson, Hannah Moore, and Damion Youngblood.”

  “Yes!” Damion said. “We are in the same group.”

  “Since we have an extra person, I am just going to put her in your group,” Robert interrupted the chatting students then shouted. “Emma Pierce.

  Jareth smiled nervously, still cautious about Damion, but they both started to make their way to the front. Jareth was still sluggish because he was still in direct sunlight. They went along the outside of the group of students avoiding traffic, so they were the first to make it to the front.

  “Hello, Jareth and Damion,” Robert said.

  As Jareth was walking past everyone, he noticed that he didn’t recognize any of the students that were there, and it seemed like the other students didn’t either. Jareth could only assume that this was done on purpose. No one knew who to befriend or who to look out for because currently, everyone’s power level displayed 0:1. He wondered why his sister was here. Maybe they didn’t separate siblings, or you can only separate people so much to different military schools. Either way I am glad that she is still here. Hopefully my sister can also make friends here as well, Jareth thought.

  Jareth turned and faced the crowd and could see three people making their way to the front and a fourth one farther back pushing through the crowd. The first to make it to the front was a girl. She had curly brown hair that reached her chest in length. She was wearing all black and there what looked to be a little black smoke coming out from her Hazel eyes. This makes her look slightly demonic even though she looked happy and had a big smile on her face which showed her dimples.

  The next to come out was a boy. He looked more nervous than anyone there, he would constantly look around him and couldn’t stop fidgeting. His body frame was quite small, but it suited him, for he wasn’t that tall either.

  The third to push through the crowd was another girl. She had a rock like mask on her face and she had two duel bladed swords strapped to her back. This surprised Jareth, because of abilities most people didn’t carry around weapons except for the group known as Paradigm.

  Paradigm was the only big group that does not believe that humans should have the Evolve powers. They would attack and destroy anything that had to do with the Evolved. That is why they are classified as a terrorist organization by the public.

  She looked like she was ready for battle. She had the type of body that would make the guys glance at her a second time. Her proportions were perfect, not too big not too small and she had beautiful long blonde hair that shined in the sunlight.

  After a little longer than the others, the last member of their group of six made it to the front. She was a cute girl with shoulder length wavy brown hair with amber eyes, and she had a tall slender figure. Just like the other girl with a weapon she also had two crossbows on her back, and she was wearing a brown and pink armor over her body.

  As soon as she had arrived, Robert began again.

  “Welcome Madison, Henry, Hannah, and our sixth member Emma.” Robert said their names in the same order as they arrived at the front. Now that everyone is here, please report to the teleportation device over there,” he said pointing at a rectangular device a little further away. There was a group in front of the device. “Wait for them to get teleported over to the testing site,” he said before walking to shout the next five.

  Damion walked over and began to greet everyone. He was very polite, so Madison, Henry, and Emma shook his hand. A little pink light had shown from Emma’s hand. When Damion went over to shake Hannah’s hand, she just stared at it for a moment.

  “I will not shake your hand,” a stern female voice said from behind the mask.

  “Why not?” Damion asked.

  When Damion was just starting to reach out, Hannah’s eyes glowed orange through the eye slits and she stepped back. Her eyes returned to normal.

  “Do not try that again,” she said.

  An expression appeared on Damion’s face for a moment, but in that moment was enough to scare Jareth a little. Damion quickly moved forward, and his right hand that had the Forwatch on it moved and touched her left arm. As soon as it touched literal pieces of earth came out of her arm and wrapped around Damion’s arm preventing him from escaping. His face went white with worry.

  “I told you to stop,” she said.

  The chunk of earth that was in front had shoved him back. Her eyes glowed orange and she lifted her arms slightly and Damion rose into the air. His eyes glowed yellow and small yellow markings appeared on his body. A light aura was coming off of him.

  “Warning,” the Draven System said. “Hybrid Nephilim energy has been detected in your area.”

  There it goes again, Jareth thought. Just say you don’t know what his Evolved power is.

  Everyone stopped and looked at the commotion that was happening near the front.

  “Wow,” a kid said,” she has earth and a telekinesis ability.”

  “That’s two abilities,” another kid said. “That’s rare enough.

  “Did you guys not see? She also has orange eyes meaning she has a third ability. That makes her rare.”

  “The third ability must be foresight and along with the properties of the other two abilities that could indicate that she is a high member of the Kennedy Faction.”

  “The Kennedy Faction?” Another asked. “I must get to know her.”

  “Like she’ll ever talk to your weak a*s.”

  “Shut up!” The kid shouted in defense. “Wait, you don’t even know how strong I am.”

  “Well based on your response I’ll assume you outed yourself as weak,” the kid replied.

  When the world finally made a truce with the Lyrackens, a lot of the landmass was destroyed and a lot of the countries got annihilated. Even the ones that weren’t destroyed were too weak to stay in control. This included the big countries like the United States, Russia, and China. So, groups had formed during and after the war. They usually were the strongest evolved and their families or friends. After a brief struggle there formed ten main factions. This did not include the Military or Paradigm. There wasn’t just ten, but they were pronounced the biggest. Some factions worked under them and others worked freely. One of the biggest factions were the Kennedy’s. Their faction kept powers were Foresight, Luck manipulation, earth, and telekinesis. Some believed that the leader had another ability that he only kept to himself. They had a mutual relationship with the others since the earth and telekinesis powers was very useful in construction.

  The leader, Larkin Kennedy made sure to teach the Evolved power to only his faction. One of the members of the faction was in fact, Hannah Moore. Her family spent all of their money to get their daughter taught the Evolved powers of the Kennedy faction and to let her hopefully have a bright future. Luckily for them she was able to learn at least three of the four. It is hard to tell if she actually learned the luck manipulation power. That still made her really strong.

  The earth started to rotate around her and raised up to form a hand that was in a slapping position. Robert had noticed the fight, and he decided that he should intervene.

  “Stop it both of you,” he said. “Save it for the test.

  The earth collapsed and Damion fell onto the floor. He scrambled back onto his feet and walked back to stand next to Jareth like nothing had just happened.

  “Nephilim energy no longer detected in your area,” the Draven System said.

  “I felt like my arm was literally dust,” Damion complained. “I thought I was going to get my a*s whooped.”

  Jareth chuckled at this. “You can’t just touch people, especially girls,” he said. “They might get the wrong idea.”

  “I see where you are coming from,” Damion replied. “She is lucky that my energy wasn’t fully powered up or I would’ve wiped the floor with her.”

  “Sure,” Hannah said.

  I can almost imagine that right now that she was rolling her eyes.

  “Energy?” Jareth asked. “What do you mean by energy?”

  Damion’s eyes widened and closed really fast that Jareth wasn’t sure if he was seeing things or not.

  “Energy,” Damion said acting confused. “Oh yeah, sorry. I sometimes say energy instead of saying evolved power. You try saying Evolved power ten times fast.” He chuckled.

  Jareth decided to ignore Damion’s weird behavior. After all, people are allowed to have their secrets.

  “The next group come forward!” A man shouted that was wearing a cloak with a military mask that was standing next to the teleportation box.

  Jareth’s group walked up to the teleportation device, and they stepped into the square around it. Jareth was the last to enter because of his sluggishness.

  “You will be teleported to the training grounds,” the hooded man said.

  He turned a dial that was resting on the top of the device. The area glowed yellow and the next thing that they knew was that they were in a wide-open space. Jareth looked left and right but all he could see was a couple of small, destroyed warehouses. In front of them was a teleportation device. There was also four people in front of them. The first was wearing the same military cloak as the one standing next to the other teleportation portal. There were two guys wearing suits and sunglasses standing on each side of a woman. She was wearing an orange military uniform that matched the terrain that they were on. She had a tablet in her hands, and she was tapping away.

  “Hello everyone,” she began. “My name is Stacy, and I will be in charge of your test. Once the last member of your group of six has finished taking the test, the information will be updated, and your score will go on your Forwatch.” She paused for a moment and kept scrolling through. “Let’s see who we should select first,” she said while looking up at the nervous students.
