Brun could see tensions brewing between everyone on the team. He knew if he showed Themba how much he had changed since being away from Benny Dubious, perhaps the courts would lighten his civic duties.
“What seems to be the trouble?” asked Brun.
Kade glanced at Brun with suspicion, while Tyler said nothing for the moment. Brun could tell Kade didn’t like Captain Valorion at all, or how he played favorites.
“What do you know about our leader’s behavior?” asked Kade, “You’re not even a team player.”
Tyler again restrained himself from calling out Kade, he just wanted to have some peace and quiet in terms of doing his chores for the captain. But Brun wasn’t backing down one moment.
“No, you were upset with the captain, maybe I can solve this for all of us” said Brun.
Kade laughed at Brun.
“Really, you can really solve this for us?” asked Kade.
“You don’t have to be that pushy about it” continued Brun, “I have been observing the captain for the past few weeks. He has high hopes for this dinner to succeed.”
“So how will you improve our lives here besides being an additional servant?” asked Kade.

Brun did his best trying to think about the sort of improvements. He knew that Nyra didn’t like the captain either and even he could see why she didn’t want to stick around with him anymore.
“We shouldn’t suck up to him” continued Brun, “but we should understand his view of order is important.”
“Important, like how he talks back against us behind our backs?” asked Kade, “And we can’t do anything to him?”
Brun did his best trying to restrain himself, trying to fight his old self. The old Brun would pounce on somebody like Captain Valorion if they didn’t have superpowers for making rude remarks to their own teammates.
“Has he always been like this even before I was asked to fulfill my civic duties by working with the Valor Team?” asked Brun.
“Yea, pretty much” replied Kade, “mostly everyone here is an orphan who the captain selected, since we have nowhere to go.”
Brun knew that there had to be some solution to all of this – violence wouldn’t solve everything against the captain. Brun sighed feeling he was stuck on trying to diffuse Kade’s behavior. He headed back to the table, Ming and Ning were still giggling about the nanotechnology project that Hank told them about. Captain Valorion’s plan was working perfectly that they were falling for such a fake project.
“We’ll make a lot of money with this project” whispered Ning.
“Yes, then we can quit our jobs and start our own company” added Ming.
Ming and Ning were determined to get Hank’s secrets at any possible manner. The two women glared at Nyra seeing that she liked Hank since he was always fond of her tarot reading.
“I say we use someone like her to get him to tell our secrets” laughed Ming.
“Yes, yes, good idea” laughed Ning.
But the two women were about to get themselves in hot water when they demanded Nyra to use her powers on Hank. It would backfire on them in such a terrible way!
