Chapter 3

The man in the trench coat widened his eyes in disbelief—he had been ambushed and was now being shot to death! As darkness engulfed him, no matter how much he struggled, he could only succumb to death.

Lucian walked over and picked up the wristwatch, allowing the system to absorb it. He then made his way to the main battleground at the back door.

At that moment, the round pyers were surrounded by gunfire and had no way to escape.

“Ah!” Chris was shot and grazed by an assault rifle.

“Chris!” Jill shouted in concern, ducking as a spray of bullets nearly hit her.

“Ha ha, you’ll all die!” The burly man suddenly opened his coat, revealing a vest full of explosives. “Second brother, big brother is coming to find you now!”

Bang! A bullet suddenly pierced the burly man’s head—a sniper from a distance had shot him dead!

Lucian quickly ran over, hoisted Jill onto his back, and pulled Chris toward a nearby wall.

Boom! Another explosion shook the ground, indicating the intensity of the bst.

  Jill covered her head. “Thanks.”

“No problem. Just buy me a drink tonight. I’ll call an ambunce for Chris. You should go to the hospital too,” Lucian said with a smile. When he had carried Jill on his back, he could feel her breasts pressing against him—soft and full. He couldn’t help but wonder how it would feel to grab them.

As Lucian was about to leave, Jill called out to him, “Lucian, you are a good man.”

“Thanks, but I’m not a good man; I’m a true scoundrel. Haha, get well soon. I’ll visit you at the hospital after I finish my report,” Lucian replied with a bright smile, eager to leave.

Jill watched Lucian leave and suddenly smiled, shaking her head. “What a strange man.”

Her impression of Lucian had greatly changed. Previously, she had a negative view of him because he was involved in underground activities such as smuggling and gambling—definitely not a good guy.

Back in his car, Lucian looked at his now-activated system with anticipation. He had waited a long time for this and hoped that the system would not disappoint.

[Round System: Activated. Host: Lucian Bckthorn.]

[Current Points: 3000. Store exchange mode activated. Points can be used for store purchases.]

Lucian took out a cigarette and lit it. Whenever he was under stress, he would smoke a cigarette.

He didn’t need to indulge in meaningless desires. He had no interest in prostitutes who had been with countless men; he preferred "respectable" women.

After checking the point acquisition methods, Lucian’s eyes gleamed. It seemed he had become a judge of sorts.

Any rounders who entered the Resident Evil world were his enemies. He could kill them and take their wristwatches to gain points.

Secondly, he could also participate in other round worlds to earn points. By influencing the plot of each world, he could make that world his own and plunder its resources—including anything valuable, and beautiful female leads are naturally no exception.

Thirdly, he could participate in short-term life-and-death challenges that could test physical strength, intelligence, teamwork, etc.

However, these challenges involved rounders fighting against each other and had a high mortality rate. Points were given out sparingly, mostly for newcomers who cked points.

There was no cooldown for life-and-death challenges. In theory, if one were not afraid of death, they could treat these challenges as a newbie dungeon to grind.

Another important rule for life-and-death challenges was that most superpowers, bloodlines, and items were restricted, bringing everyone to a roughly equal pying field.

This "fairness" was only retive, so the specific rules needed to be figured out.

This made Lucian’s status somewhat like a half-rounder. He had his home base where he could stay, and he could hunt other rounders while hiding his identity as a native character, which was quite intriguing.

After understanding the point system, Lucian now turned his attention to the store. He was curious to see what goodies awaited him there.

  [Unlimited Bullet Desert Eagle.]

[Attack: 100-180. Base firing rate: 1.3. Six bullets total, one bullet reloads every second.]

  [Cost: 3000 points.]

  [Super Bulletproof Vest.]

[Armor: 500. Dodge: 300. Elemental Resistance: 30. HP: 100. Increases movement speed and gun firing speed by 10%.]

  [Cost: 1000 points.]

Lucian frowned slightly at these two options. They didn’t seem particurly powerful. The unlimited bullet Desert Eagle was not that strong, and a one-second reload for one bullet was too slow.

Equipment was temporary, but skills were forever. Building a foundation with skills first and then complementing that with equipment was the true path to power.

He scrolled through a list of basic skills such as basic combat, basic marksmanship, basic diplomacy, basic exploration, and many others.

Lucian squinted, trying to decide which one to choose.

Soon he found what he was looking for. The skill was initially grayed out, but a note mentioned that only “unknown personnel” could purchase it. When he saw that note, the skill became avaible for purchase.

  [Joyful Heart Technique]

[A technique from the Joyful Sect in a martial arts world where making love is a natural part of human retions. After learning this, you can enhance your abilities by having sex with women. If the woman also knows the Joyful Heart Technique, both parties receive double the ability enhancement.]

  [Cost: 1000 points.]

Lucian’s eyes lit up. This seemed tailor-made for him. He could boost his attributes by having sex with women, so he could potentially handle ten women at once!

Without hesitation, he bought the skill. A stream of light exploded in his mind, flooding him with a lot of data which caused a slight headache. Soon, the skill’s attributes appeared on his panel.

[Joyful Heart Technique: Level 1 (max level 20). Each level increases strength by 5 points, agility by 5 points, wisdom by 5 points, base attack power by 5, and movement speed by 1%.]

“Seems a bit mediocre,” Lucian mused as he rubbed his chin. His phone rang. “This is Lucian.”

“Eight o’clock tonight, Apple Tavern, major case squad celebration, my treat,” Jill said simply and hung up.
