chapter 16-Bloody Night

As I ran through the city with Gregory the numbness caused by my excessive wine drinking slowly started to disappear. I could now think more clearly. I started thinking about what was happening. Why would the Fatestar family do such a thing?

But I quickly realized something. It didn't matter why. All that mattered was that the people of the Moon Flower Sect was in danger.

"I saw Alexander pulling the Elder's corpse. This means they probably infiltrated the academy and it's treasury. So they will be able to absorb all the Elemental Spirits left in there. This will take them a bit of time. So we have a chance to escape before they become too powerful for us to run away from them."

We don't have a chance to fight back. We can't regain control of the situation. We have to run away. To escape from the sect.

Then I suddenly remembered something. I looked around the street I was running through, so that I could figure out where I was, and once I did I turned to the left and the next intersection of the street.

"I am close. I can make." I though inwardly.

Gregory saw me turning to the left. he followed behind me, albeit confused.

This wasn't the path to the gate. This path was leading somewhere else.

I ran through the streets at a quick and frantic pace. Suddenly a shadow seemed to pounce at me from the roof. It was a member of the Fatestar family trying to ambush me.

He had his right hand raised for a punch. The hand was covered in a rocky skin. However the rest of his body wasn't protected by this rocky skin.

Noticing this I raised my right hand. All my fingers were clenched together except for my index finger which was extended. A small sphere of wind formed at the very tip of my finger. It was a lot smaller then the usual spheres that I formed during my previous battles however it was a lot more concentrated.

Suddenly the wind sphere on my finger shot out towards the Fatestar cultivator. It's speed was immense. It reached the cultivator nearly instantly. It hit the left side of the cultivator's chest which was unprotected. Instead of dispersing and knocking the cultivator back like the normal wind sphere does this concentrated wind sphere was able to pierce through the cultivator's skin. It entered inside and hit his heart, killing him.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

His lifeless body fell to the ground with a thud. I ran past it in a hurry. Gregory who was behind me was suprised.

"Did he just use a concentrated wind sphere? How is that possible when he's only a Tier 1? That kind of attack is only possible to do at Tier 2. While a cultivator can forcible use an attack from a higher Tier it will cost immense amount of elemental energy to be used up and also cause strain on the user's body. So if he was a Tier 1 who forcibly used a Tier 2 attack he wouldn't be able to run so fast after that."

As these thoughts ran through his head he finally realized the undeniable truth.

  "So he's a Tier 2 cultivator? Interesting."

  ...

After a few more minutes of running I finally reached my destination. My home. Where my mother and sister were. But what I saw wasn't the home I remembered. Instead of a comfy looking home there was nothing but burning wood. They had set my house on fire.

I ran towards it at fast speeds. I jumped through the fire and entered the house. The smoke obscured my vision and the flames distorted the air. I was still able to navigate through the house.

I rushed through the hallway of the house. In the right side was a door, my mother's room!

I opened the door quickly and looked inside.

  My eyes froze.

  My pupils dilated.

  My breathing quickened.

  My hands started shaking.

  My face became pale.

On the floor of the room there was a pool of blood.

Inside this pool of blood were 2 bodies.

One of them was a women with black hair and blue eyes. My mother.

The other was a young girl with the same black hair and blue eyes. My sister.

  Nobody else was there.

It was just me and a pair of corpses.

There was a silence in the room. Then there was the sound of dripping water.

  Drip. Drip. Drip.

They were tears. Tears which fell down from my cheeks.

"I-I am so sorry. I couldn't protect you. Please forgive me. I...I am so sorry."

I fell to my knees. I wiped my eyes and grabbed my hair. I let out a weak scream. A scream filled with anger and hate.

  Hate towards the Fatestar family.

Yes. It was all their fault.

From the very beginning all the bad things that have ever happened to me as a cultivator was a result of them.

"It's all their fault. They killed my family and the families of so many others. I-I will kill them. I will kill every last one of them. I don't care what I have to do. I will do it. I will not leave a single one alive no matter how innocent they may be."

I rose up from the ground. The house was still burning. I couldn't stay here for long. This meant this was the last I would see of my mother and sister.

  "Goodbye." I said to them.

Tears started to form in my eyes again. I wiped them off with my hand and my face grew more determined.

  "I will avenge you."

I then turned around and walked out of the house. Gregory was outside waiting for me. He was keeping guard to make sure nobody came into the house and attacked.

"Are you okay?" He asked me in a concerned voice.

"They're dead. My family is dead." I said with a blank expression on my face.

"I am sorry for your loss."

  I nodded at his response.

"I will kill them." I said with a determined voice.

  Gregory nodded.

"Not right now. We don't have a chance. We have to leave." He explained.

I nodded and we both rushed to the gates of the sect.
