In the Kingdom of Makelty, witchcraft is a crime punishable by death, and a young, newly-appointed Royal Executioner, Rodyle, is tasked to execute a young woman, Aura, who has been condemned for being a practicioner of witchcraft. Despite his misgiving on his given task, which amounts to executing an innocent woman whose only crime is simply existing, Rodyle hardens his resolve and performs his duty, promising to the condemned that her death will be quick and painless.
