Chapter 41-The Weight of Truth

The air inside the school auditorium was thick with tension. Rows of students sat rigidly, their whispers hushed under the stern gazes of police officers stationed along the walls. The principal stood at the podium, his face grave, while the student council members sat in reserved seats, their expressions ranging from fear to curiosity.

Officer Sin Hao moved through the rows of students in the council room, interrogating them one by one. His eyes, sharp and analytical, studied each answer for inconsistencies. Wang Li, having already undergone questioning, stood near the window, watching the slow, methodical process unfold.

Then, a police officer hurried into the room. "Sir, we've found something on the CCTV footage."

Sin Hao straightened, exchanging a quick gnce with Wang Li before striding toward the surveilnce room. The screen flickered as they pyed back the footage. A hooded figure—definitely a male student—was seen hesitating at the entrance to the girls' washroom. He gnced around before slipping inside.

Then—static. The camera feed cut to bck.

Wang Li narrowed her eyes. "That’s Li Zhen, from Css 2B."

Minutes ter, the police stormed into Li Zhen’s house. What they found was chilling—items stained with blood, hidden notes scribbled with unsettling messages. The evidence was irrefutable. Li Zhen was arrested.

  Days Later: The Verdict

The school halls were still buzzing with hushed conversations. The once lively campus now felt haunted by the tragedy. Li Zhen had been sentenced to death. In two days, justice would be served.

Inside the student council room, silence loomed.

Xinyu shook his head. "I can’t believe it. Li Zhen... he always seemed like a good student."

Lin Yue scoffed. "Good? A person like that was always hiding something. Evil doesn’t always wear a cruel face."

Xu Wang exhaled, rubbing his temples. "It’s over now. There’s no point lingering on it. We should focus on our studies."

Despite his words, the atmosphere remained heavy.

  ---

  At Yao’s Home

That evening, Xu Wang and Wang Li visited Yao’s family.

Her mother’s face was hollow with grief, her eyes swollen from endless crying. Her father sat motionless on the couch, his hands trembling as he tried to hold onto a teacup. The sight was unbearable.

Wang Li knelt beside Yao’s mother, gently holding her hands. "Auntie… I know nothing can heal this pain, but please know she’ll always be remembered."

Xu Wang, standing beside Yao’s father, pced a firm hand on his shoulder. "You don’t have to hold it in."

The man shuddered, his breath hitching before his composure cracked. His sobs were raw, his pain pouring out in broken gasps. Xu Wang stayed by his side, offering silent support.

The visit ended in a sorrowful hush.

  ---

As Xu Wang and Wang Li walked along the dimly lit footpath, neither spoke at first. The cool breeze carried the scent of autumn leaves, rustling faintly in the quiet.

Xu Wang sighed. "They were too sad…"

Wang Li gnced at him. "I know. But we can’t change anything now."

Then, out of nowhere, Wang Li turned to him and pressed her lips against his.

Xu Wang stiffened, caught off guard. "W-Why now?"

Wang Li pulled back slightly, her gaze unreadable. "You looked too sad."

There was something in her voice, something deep, almost desperate. Xu Wang didn’t know how to respond. Before he could, she stepped back. "Let’s go."

  ---

  Xu Wang house

As soon as Xu Wang stepped through the door, his mother rushed to him, embracing him tightly.

"Are you okay, dear? I heard about what happened at school!"

Xu Wang forced a small smile. "I’m fine, Mom."

His father approached, patting his head. "It’s okay. Just don’t let it weigh on you too much."

After a warm dinner, Xu Wang finally felt some of the tension ease. His mother’s cooking had a way of grounding him, of making things feel normal—even if just for a moment.

Later, as he y in bed, sleep came slowly. But when it did, it was restless.

  ---

At her home, Wang Li stood under the hot spray of the shower, letting the water wash over her. Her mind was quiet, but her body was tense.

Stepping out, she wrapped herself in a towel and y on her bed, staring at the ceiling.

Then—she covered her eyes with her arm, whispering, "I’m sorry, Xu Wang… but it’s not my fault."

  A pause.

Her breathing grew uneven as she sat up and walked to her closet. Slowly, she pulled out something wrapped in silk.

  A body pillow.

Its design was carefully crafted—Xu Wang’s face, his body drawn in perfect detail.

She traced her fingers over the fabric, a twisted smile creeping onto her lips.

"It’s not my fault… it’s hers. It’s his. They deserved it."

  Her grip tightened.

In the dim glow of her room, Wang Li pressed her lips against the pillow, whispering words only she could hear.

  The night of the incident…

Li Zhen had received a letter—a confession from Wang Li, asking him to meet in the girls’ washroom.

His heart raced as he stepped inside. But the moment he did, he realized… something was off. The restroom was empty.

Then—he heard a faint voice. A girl, talking on the phone outside. Panic gripped him. He turned and left.

Moments ter, the camera feed cut out.

  And then… Yao walked inside.

Wang Li had been waiting. Watching.

  The door creaked open.

Yao barely had time to react before a cold hand wrapped around her throat.

Her eyes widened in terror. She tried to scream, but her voice was stolen by the suffocating grip.

  Darkness consumed her.

  Then the pain began.

Her tongue. Her eyes. Her legs.

  She begged. She screamed.

  But Wang Li only smiled.

"You wanted to steal my Xu Wang?" Her voice was almost sweet, a cruel lulby. "You deserve this."

Wang li use her cutter and she cut her tongue and gout her eyes.

  She crush down her legs.

  Crack! Crack!

  The tiles were painted red.

And Yao’s screams faded into silence.
