B5 | Chapter 20

  Alexia

The Corruptor manages to parry my scythe with its claws. Sending my scythe bouncing off of its claws. But at the same time, the Corruptor’s claws also bounce away.

Proving the clash to be equal on both sides.

Then the two of us repeatedly clash over and over again. Sending shockwaves of corruption and quantum energy all around us in the process.

Which proceeds to both destroy planets and corrupt other planets at the same time.

One by one, the planets fall. But I don’t really care. Because most of the planets were already corrupted in the first place.

So all it’s doing is corrupting them even further while also corrupting the precious few planets that weren’t already corrupted.

As for anyone who might be living on those planets?

Everything is already corrupted. So it doesn’t matter if the planets are destroyed.

With that thought in mind, I don’t hold back and begin striking quantum lightning down on the Corruptor while still attacking it with my scythe. But the thing manages to block my scythe strikes while dodging my lightning.

Proving the Corruptor to be just as fast as it is strong. If not even faster than it is strong.

I narrow my eyes before deciding to switch it up a little.

Instead of moving naturally, I begin to teleport back and forth. All over the place. Striking at the Corruptor over and over again, back and forth.

But even with my teleporting, the thing proves fast enough to respond to me and still counter my attacks.

We continue clashing over and over again without either of us getting a clean strike on the other for an unknown length of time. All the way until the Corruptor finally lands a strike on me.

Thanks to my Corruption Immunity skill though, it only hurts and does normal damage without corrupting me at all. And I quickly revert it as well.

Which seems to surprise the Corruptor.

Enough that I actually manage to get a small slash in.

But unlike with the wound it placed on me, my slash doesn’t heal. Dealing permanent, unrepairable damage as my skill literally feeds the part of its soul I just cut off with its wound to the universe itself.

It’s just too bad I didn’t deal much damage with my attack.

  Just a minor cut.

To my surprise though, the Corruptor panther thing jumps backwards. Building distance between us. Then it starts making some sort of sound similar to a hiss but with a bunch of scrambled noises mixed in with the hiss.

Not to mention the sound of something glitching out.

I begin preparing a major attack while it’s distracted. Swinging my scythe around to build up energy while also increasing the quantum lightning in the sky.

But after a few seconds, the Corruptor suddenly begins to move again. Dancing back and forth while seemingly building up some sort of spell circle with the corrupting it leaves behind.

Almost like it’s preparing its own powerful attack.

I try to hurry up a bit with my own attack, pushing in more energy into the skies and onto my scythe. All the way until a powerful arc of quantum energy forms all along my scythe.

Meanwhile the Corruptor finishes with its corrupted magic circle and a massive ball of corruption begins to form in front of said circle.

Without hesitating, I call down the quantum lightning to strike my scythe while teleporting forwards and swinging my scythe, which is covered in the arc of quantum energy and is now coated in quantum lightning as well, right into the ball of corruption. Slicing through it before cutting into the magic circle and then into the Corruptor.

All back to back as the sound of glitchy thunder and an explosion echoes throughout the space around us.

Despite us being in space, which shouldn’t have most sounds.

Then again, corruption makes things wonky all over the place. So logic and physics don’t work in corruption.

I grin, only for my grin to faulter when the Corruptor reappears several thousand meters away in space. With far fewer injuries than I was expecting and hoping for.

Although it is still injured with permanent injuries at least.

To be specific, it is now missing its tail and one of its hind legs.

I quickly teleport up to it before swinging my scythe again at the creature. Only for it to dodge.

Which I find to be interesting. The fact that it dodges instead of blocking.

Up until now it’s barely dodged my attacks. Instead almost always blocking with the exception of my quantum lightning.

  But now it’s dodging.

Also, I think it’s slower now than before.

Maybe it’s also weaker as well?

That would certainly explain why it’s dodging instead of blocking.

It may not be strong enough to block anymore.

I begin pushing faster and faster to attack it. Even taking quantum lightning into my own body to increase my speed despite that damaging me ever so slightly in the process.

And thanks to that I manage to get in more strikes against the Corruptor. Cutting into its other hind leg and almost cutting off its corrupted paw in the process.

Which proceeds to slow it down even more. Letting me get in another strike on its front right paw. And another on its front left.

  And another on its midsection.

At this point, the Corruptor begins to flee away from my attacks. Looking like it’s preparing to run away entirely and leave the battle.

All while the Quantum Beings watch on with various expressions of interest or lack of interest.

Some of them look impressed, others just look like the sight they’re seeing is what’s to be expected of a Quantum Being. And others just look like they’re getting bored and want to go home.

Although that last one consists of a single Quantum Being.

  The Quantum Cleaner.

Why do I feel like he wanted to see a more even fight? Or even one beating me up a little?

And now that it’s clearly not happening as he wanted, he’s grown bored and wants to go back to his games. Only to be stuck here waiting for me to finish so that he can do his job.

What with the fact that he’ll just be summoned here after I finish anyways. All to clean up the galaxy.

Not that there will be much to clean up considering all the planets we’re destroying.

My thoughts come to a sudden halt when the Corruptor out of nowhere gives up on fleeing and turns its head towards me.

  What’s it doing now?
