Time passes as I continue slaughtering corrupted creatures. All the way until I finally find a Corruptor of my own to deal with. One that isn’t too powerful for me to handle.
The Corruptor is just barely at Ascendant Tier. Which is weak enough for me to handle only because I’m able to use my True Form when fighting against it.
Now, if I didn’t have my True Form, I wouldn’t be very confident fighting it.
But with my True Form?
This should be too much of a problem.
And more importantly, it’ll give me a lot of EXP when I beat it. Maybe even enough to finally reach the level cap of Tier 5.
I feel a faint grin spreading across my face at that thought.
As for the Corruptor itself? The thing is in the form of a panther of sorts. One whose form is too corrupted to actually tell any real details about it apart from its shape.
At the same time, there are billions of corrupted creatures all around the Corruptor.
I narrow my eyes at the creature and its army, only to call down quantum lightning to begin dealing with all of its little minions. Which quickly begins to cull their numbers, but only to a certain degree.
In fact, even after striking them all with quantum lightning, millions of the corrupted creatures still remain. All of whom are at the peak of Tier 5.
They all begin to attack me at once while the Corruptor stands back and watches without any real intelligence in its glitching eyes. But the creatures don’t manage to deal much damage to me at all beyond some magical damage unrelated to corruption.
All thanks to my corruption immunity.
My grin grows even wider as I begin to slice apart the corrupted creatures over and over again with my scythe. Dealing permanent damage that can never be recovered.
What with the parts cut off being fed directly to the universe itself thanks to my Soul Reaping skill given to me during my True Form transformation.
And thanks to Living Singularity – another skill given to me through my True Form – I never run out of energy. Because all of the energy in the surroundings is immediately drawn to me.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
So whenever the surroundings begin to run low on energy, all it takes is me opening gates to the Quantum Realm to draw in more energy.
Thanks to my True Form’s skills, I continue to slaughter the corrupted creatures.
All the way down to the very last corrupted creature aside from the Corruptor. Who still isn’t moving from its original spot.
I narrow my eyes at the creature, only to find it finally beginning to move. Just prowling around like a cat. Which really fits its shape.
Meanwhile I notice some Quantum Beings appearing in the corner of my vision.
The Quantum Vanguard appears through a rift before crossing his arms and sitting back as if he’s about to watch the battle.
The Quantum Cleaner appears and begins glaring at me, clearly having lost all of his prior good will towards me thanks to my constant interruptions. What with me spending so long clearing out all these galaxies of corrupted creatures.
The Quantum Judge appears with a frown on his face. Making his first appearance in a while from what Zal said.
Zal himself appears in person with a faint smile on his face, along with some smugness towards the others.
And finally, the Quantum Ruler himself shows his face but doesn’t actually enter the mortal realm. He just opens a large rift and watches from his place seated on his grand throne.
But right when I’m beginning to think that’s the last of it, Mom appears as well.
And what’s more is that she now has the aura of a Quantum Being.
My eyes narrow a bit before I glance at Zal. Then I just shake my head and focus on the Corruptor again.
It looks like everyone’s gathering to watch my very first battle against a Corruptor.
That makes this even more interesting.
After this battle I’ll be heading back to the Dimensional Blocks to deal with another issue that has arisen. Specifically some warmongering archfiend that’s been going around attacking every single Dimensional Block he can find.
He isn’t a major issue for me right now, seeing as he hasn’t attacked Dimensional Block #108 yet or harmed Astrid, but he’ll probably develop into an issue in the future. So it’s best to nip this in the bud.
Especially since I’ve heard some things about the guy that imply he’s doing this on purpose in order to attract my attention.
And it’s best not to wait too long and let that fester. Otherwise he could actually start going after Astrid.
Still. Right now the Corruptor is more important.
Not to mention whatever requirements I find myself facing to ascend to Ascendant Tier from Tier 5.
“It won’t be easy,” Zal says, his voice echoing in my head, making my eyes narrow even further.
So you already know what the requirements will be to ascend?
“Of course I do,” Zal answers. “Unless the System changed it.”
That makes me raise a brow, only to focus on the Corruptor again when the thing lets out a loud sounding roar.
Well, I’ll find out soon what the requirements are. So there’s no point in asking now.
With that in mind, I begin swinging my scythe to prepare a quantum arc that I send flying straight at the Corruptor. Only for said Corruptor to swipe at it with its claws, blocking the strike in the process.
Then the creature narrows its own eyes at me.
Like a predator that’s found its prey.
But I’m not prey, and I’ll be showing this little kitty cat that soon enough.
A faint thrill flows through me at that thought before I teleport right up to the Corruptor while swinging my scythe.
Beginning the battle at last.
