Set six years after the end of Iron Wars with Ginlesik that lasted thirty years, Dunyasik is at war once again, this time with their neighbors to the northeast, Ilerle, as they encounter resistance to their spreading of Amune’s Light. Dayanik, an idealistic, if naïve, freshly-robed Priest of the Brotherhood of Amune, returns home to his small village nestled in the southern reaches of Dunyasik, a country driven by the salvation of its founder, Amune. Finding a world where Darkness is still swarming in the forgotten corners where Amune’s Light fails to reach, Dayanik needs to return to the capitol of Erenamune to report his dire findings. Accompanied by the distant and detached former assassin Sekant Hazar, as well as his childhood friend Lida, Dayanik’s report falls upon the ears of opportunistic and self-serving leaders of the Brotherhood. He’s sent on a far-reaching journey to neighboring lands, with enemies and Darkness closing around him, in order to find what he’s told is the solution to the growing signs of Darkness. His journey to find a tome and a man, sent by those he thinks he can trust, requires him to put his faith in Sekant’s sword and spear. Encountering rogue princesses, pirate kings, sellsword assassins, warring states, and beasts of Darkness far beyond his imagination and the descriptions from the books of old, Dayanik must grow quickly from a naïve child, weak and frightened of every little instance, into a man whose inner strength surpasses the limitations of a body that trembles and shakes with fear and weakness.
