Unlike myself who approached the council trying to be friendly, Arath walked into the middle of the dais like she was going to war. The silver ring rising slightly from the ground around her.
A shimmering blue set of armour took form around her body and a giant two handed shield appeared in her hands. Definitely some padin skills I thought trying to remember if she used either of them when we were confronted by Sabet. It was all a bit of a blur.
"Arath." Zemelly began. "You have been summoned as rumour has is you have activated your css without disclosing the god you serve. Do you admit your css of padin is active?"
Kind or redundant after her little dispy I thought.
"Yes." Arath said without offering anything more.
"And which god do you serve." Zemelly asked.
"None that you will know." Arath responded holding a stoic pose.
I'll admit for how submissive and kind she was around me it was interesting to see this side of her although I did see it briefly when she was protecting me. She was really embodying the padin mindset.
"That is not the answer we want. What is your gods name?" Brult asked.
"Tim." Arath responded and the ring remained unchanged. I almost ughed at the realisation she used my original name, the one I never felt like it was my own. Yet because she believes it's mine in some regards she could say this without lying.
The council all looked at Zemelly as she began to cast some type of spell. Her eyes shone white for a brief moment before fizzing out.
"That god does not exist." She said. "Please answer correctly Arath."
"Did your ring change colour? My god was named Tim, would you like to know anything else?" She offered sarcastically.
The council was at a loss. I mean Arath was technically not lying but Zemelly couldn't find that god. I'm guessing she has a god search skill or something and they were going to rely on that to figure out what type of god she follows. My wife really threw them a curve ball with that one.
"What does your god have control over?" Rayeffet asked, the merchant trying to approach from a different angle.
"Don't know." Arath responded. The ring remained unchanged. This was starting to upset the council judging from the looks in their eyes. We might be banished after all.
'Interesting, why is it Arath thinks of you whenever she's asked about her god? Are you a messenger of some kind?' Raynas voice echoed in my head and I lost focus on my surroundings.
No I'm her god. Or at least I could activate her css somehow.
The thought came to me almost like she plucked it from my mind.
'Very interesting. A fledgling god thats also human. You will be very popur, but what type of god are you?'
I couldn't stop the thought as it bubbled to the surface of my mind. Primordial.
The feeling returned to my body and I briefly noticed Arath now arguing with Brult about being forced to join a combat division of the guards since she now had a combat reted css. It was going poorly for the council member as her being a head mare apparently overruled is cim.
I shook the dizzy spell away about to shoot the Paragon a dirty look when I noticed for the first time surprise on her face. Curiosity began to war with that surprise and she almost looked like she was having an internal argument with herself.
"I will only join you in practice if Lazarus is with me!" Arath demanded. "And only once every ten days."
This seemed like it was very one sided in her favour as none of the other council members wanted anything to do with this dilemma.
"Very well starting tomorrow..."
"The day after." My red head interrupted.
"Starting the day after tomorrow you will attend half a days combat training and another every ten days." He didn't seem to like the outcome but with no one helping him I presumed this was the best he could get.
"Does anyone else have anything to add?" Arath asked taunting the rest of the council.
"Yes." The Paragon replied to everyones suprise.
She blinked from her ptform to directly in front of me and by pure reaction I blinked backwards.
Blink 2 acquired.
Well two uses and it levelled nice.
As for the centaur now in front of me she simply looked me over with new curiosity. Arath looked shocked behind her Paragon, her protective instincts wanting to come to my aid but her more reasonable part knowing she couldn't do anything even if she did.
"You continue to suprise me. By rights I should kill you but I find myself more and more wanting to help you." The world around us was frozen in pce like we were in our own pocket of the universe.
"Quite perspective too."
I tried to remain as calm as I possibly could but knowing your life is in someone you don't knows hands is really terrifying.
"I'm guessing you know what a Primordial is?" I asked hoping I would get some type of information out of it if I did survive.
"No. Arath has told you they were hunted but that isn't strictly true. They grew too powerful, too greedy. Many wanted the power others had and that want started a war. One that pulled everyone into and decimated entire poputions."
So typical bloody people wanting more. I thought.
"Quite right." She said.
Almost forgot she could read minds.
"So why not kill me?" I asked trying to find some way of getting out of this.
"You feel safe." She replied cryptically. "Primordials are also known as the first of their species once one exists of a given species another will never come to be, and the human Primordial definitely died. So that just leaves the question what are you?"
"Human I believe."
"Maybe. You at least believe you are and there is no deception in what you have told Arath. I also get a rge amount of skill points for your continued activities with her. Hence wanting to keep you alive."
There was something she was leaving out. I could see it in her eyes.
"Almost too perceptive." She snickered. "I have not had someone I believe could gain the power or the respect to mount me in all my life. You however posses that and more. So I offer you a deal."
The expression deal with a devil came to mind.
"Nothing like that. I want you to live here in my city, grow with Arath and anyone else you wish to join your herd. And when you believe yourself strong enough. Challenge me."
"Wait you want to be beaten?" I asked not quite following her.
"No I want to be dominated. I want to know that no matter what I do I cannot win. You have the potential but you are a long way off. But I am nothing if not patient. So I will wait. But if you show that you are no different to the other Primordials I will squash you without hesitation." She said the threat at the end punctuated with a growl.
"Carrot, stick got it." I replied to her forgetting that she wasn't from my world.
"I don't follow."
"It's a saying where I'm from. Offer a carrot for doing something you want and a stick to the behind if they don't." I replied my nerves and arousal trying to decide what one should be visible.
"I like that. The carrot is me and the stick is your death. You have a strange mind, it's hard to follow with all these new words and phrases you use." She said turning away from me and walking towards Arath.
"Hey Rayna." I called. She stopped and turned her top half back to face me. "Thank you. I will get strong enough to force you to submit."
Her tail flicked underneath her dress and she gave me a daring smile. "Don't let me wait for too long, little godling."
And with that the bubble disappeared unfreezing the rest of the building. There was a hushed silence as everyone looked between the two of us waiting for something.
I kept my mouth shut just watching the Paragon. It seemed like our little moment was gone and I didn't want to push my luck.
"Protect him well young Padin and maybe just maybe. I'll call you my head mare." The words were said so quietly I almost missed them. It also wouldn't have surprised me if she used some spell to stop the crowd from hearing.
Arath had a look of almost shock on her face as the Paragon continued past her like she hadn't said anything at all. My head mare robotically coming to my side still staring at her Paragon.
"We are done here." Rayna said dismissing everyone without bothering to look back.
We took our que and left, Arath speaking once we were sure no one could hear us.
"My love what happened in there?"
"Short version. Rayna wants me to mount her but won't let me until I can beat her in a fight." I replied in a whisper.
We found the streets and Arath lifted me onto her back, her armour now gone. I was going to have to get her a saddle if this kept up but I didn't know how to ask it without being insensitive towards her.
"We will need to strengthen you fast then my lord. Rayna would make a fine addition to our herd."
The glint I could see in my wife's eyes showed there was more. My darling red head wanted her for another reason and I was more than happy to help her get it.
