8 – Charlene, The Prodigiuous Girl

Year Forty-four of the Father God

The girl in the Hinon Federation, who went by the name Charlene was attending another lesson in the kindergarten.

The problem was she understood many things and even understood the current lesson and its reason to exist. But that caused her to be distant toward her peers as they were not in the same mind as her.

Despite that, she endured the loneliness she felt. Besides, she was able to connect with the Library of Consciousness and sometimes heard what the consciousness said to her. Sometimes it was timely advice, sometimes it was a moment of crification and sometimes it was a great misleading that almost caused her to follow it through.

“What is this that can allow me to hear something from deep within me?” the four-year-old Charlene had already thought of that since her first encounter with the Library of Consciousness.

Furthermore, she also scored perfect for every question the teacher asked. Even to the point that Charlene sometimes learned about things above her age. She also developed a liking for reading as it also allowed her to learn new things.

It was also at this moment that she had a slight interest in her world. The world was wide and she wanted to explore all of it.

But she was limited by her own body so she refrained from doing something excessive. This was also the advice she received from the Library of Consciousness. The advice was sound so she faithfully adopted it to her lifestyle.

Year Forty-five of the Father God.

Charlene was assigned by her parents to attend elementary school. It was actually the policy of the Hinon Federation that state children had the right to attend twelve years of education. It was the children’s right to attend so the cost was free.

That was why Charlene became an elementary school student. She also managed to learn many things so fast that the other students fell short. It was because her mind was sharp enough to connect many things to form a conclusion.

So she started to learn the subjects above her grade. It was at least interesting to her as it expanded her horizon as to what was the current condition of human civilization. It also allowed her to learn history.

But soon she had her doubts. It was especially when history mentioned the figure of the Father God.

“Who is this Father God?” she thought as she read the article further. Furthermore, it was associated with the Father God Congregation which was actually a religious group.

Charlene who was just five years old was curious about the figure of the Father God as well as the faith in him. Why did the humans believe in such a figure in the first pce?

Year Forty-Six of the Father God.

The more Charlene learned about the Father God, the more she could not believe it. Even the calendar that showed the progress of time was honored to the figure of the Father God. But the evidence was that overwhelming so she had to believe it no matter how ridiculous it was.

Besides, she had also won several competitions for elementary students from across the Hinon Federation, making her parents proud. This caused her confidence to rise and she wanted to obtain more knowledge.

Now she even understood how the combustion engine worked. Even though it was a decade-old discovery but with the oil as the main fuel, it worked well.

There was one thing she wanted to do. She wanted to unify the human race once more as the necessary condition for her to be able to see the Father God figure that the history books often wrote. Other than that, she also learned something about the term ‘Star Battle’ across different topics.

But it was only in pieces so she did not understand fully what that term meant.

Dian was surprised that the little girl thought and learned so much about the events in human history. He even felt that she was someone who could do it. He also knew that the Hinon Federation was the strongest powerhouse of the Comberth Continent so he knew that Charlene was retively safe.

Dian then sent his wishes through the Library of Consciousness to Charlene. She who was studying then widened her eyes, in disbelief.

“What…is this?” she had never received such a thing before so she did not know what to do. She could only calm herself and took some time alone to settle her thoughts.

“I should process this information. Is the figure of the Father God truly real? And the thing inside my consciousness…” Charlene thought about it deeply and hard. She decided that the one who communicated with her was truly the Father God.

Even some of the consciousness that she recognized said as such.

The very first thing the young Charlene developed was the study of mental construct. In it, she cimed that human consciousness was connected with another consciousness. That another consciousness was actually the consciousness of the deceased as she had experienced it herself.

One of them was actually experiencing the life of a hunter in the past who used dinosaurs to hunt. At the present time, rarely people used dinosaurs to do that. But from the history books, she discovered that practice was rampant in the past.

It was not her own experience as she had never been to the location in her memory but she vividly remembered that. It meant that the consciousness between one another was connected somehow.

Of course, she reported her progress to her parents but they could not believe the words of a child. Then they consulted the people relevant to the studies of the mind.

One of them was surprised that a six-year-old child could think of such things. Then this one expert asked Charlene to make something together and Charlene agreed. She wanted to see the process of her knowledge being known as well as made it a formal academic presentation.

Thus, Charlene became one of the co-authors of the academic journal within the Hinon Federation about the mind and consciousness. Her theory became the foundation on which humans relied in the future.

Year Forty-Seven of the Father God.

Charlene was reading a newspaper that she borrowed from her father to read the test news from within the Hinon Federation as well as the news without.

She learned about the world a lot from the newspaper so she read them together with her father every day.

She also often met with the expert in the studies of the mind. To her, that experience was valuable and she wanted to get involved more. But Charlene had to wait for some time due to her own limitations.

Because of this, she finally had a wish that was the same as her peers and that was to grow up quickly. Charlene felt that her current situation was not good for many things but she also knew the importance of proper growth.

So she reined her wild wish and did everything she could within her reach.

Besides that, the other powerhouses of the Comberth Continent waged war with one another. It was in the news and Charlene asked what war was and its purpose. She would only know of the purpose of the war in the future but she had a feeling that the reason might not be as simple as she thought.

Also, her understanding increased by learning from the Nafs who resided in the Library of Consciousness. They gave her some knowledge she did not know about, something that would help her immensely.

Year Forty-Eight of the Father God.

Dian was looking at the Heavensend Kingdom this time. It was because he discovered that the stagnant development of the kingdom suddenly improved once more. It was slow but at least they had improvement compared to before.

This was especially true for their shipbuilding technology. It was advancing at a rate they had never experienced. They became the powerhouse that could dominate the sea and by extension, the ocean.

They became the ones who explored the sea and ocean of the Cerulean Pnet. They started to get sailed so that they could explore more of the world. But there was just one issue, their source of energy still came from the steam engine so the rate they explore the ocean was actually quite slow.

But this was not a problem since they went uninterrupted and also because of the situation in the Comberth Continent. The people from the Heavensend Kingdom also forbid themselves from coming near the sea territory of the Comberth Continent, while opening up their border once more.

Year Forty-Nine of the Father God.

Charlene had studied the curriculum of the elementary students and currently learning the middle school’s materials. She was content with her current progress and she was also invited to do more of the study of the mind and consciousness.

In this case, she regarded the very individual the identity of the person as Nafs. Charlene got this knowledge from the consciousness that reyed this information to her. She received it and then conveyed it to the academic world.

This caused sensation in the academic world. They felt like the theory that came from the nine year old child was not solid enough but several studies showed that her experience was shared by many others. So while it was questionable, the fact that several people experienced a simir case to Charlene where they had gotten new knowledge from some of the Nafs.

So the study of the mind started to flourish and improve too. Not only that but some people started to think about utilizing this part of the human mind for the benefit of the human race. But of course, it was also for their own self-interest.

Her parents felt that their daughter was amazing but they were also concerned. Would she be fine if they allowed her to do what she liked?

  So…

“What’s wrong?” Charlene who had finished another study session came to realize that her parents were tense. It was unusual so she decided to inquire.

“We want to know if you are fine with all of the things you’ve done?”

“Hmm…” Charlene felt that her parents’ question was directed at her well being. So far, she was content with everything she had received. But she also felt happy learning all of the new knowledge she had acquired.

She said, “I am content and happy, Dad, Mom. So you don’t have to worry about me. Instead, I am the one who worried about you two.”

Charlene could perceive the emotions of her parents so she knew what they felt. She could only be honest with herself as well as with her parents.

“Of course we are fine!” her father replied but Charlene realized that her father was hiding something. But she did not know what to do so she kept to herself that there were some things that made her parents like that.

“Let’s eat. It is already lunchtime and I already prepared the food.” Her mother added. Seeing this, Charlene smiled with sincerity. She was gd that she was born into her family. Despite the hidden concern her parents had, she could also feel that both of them cared about her.

“Yes.” With a smile pstered over her face, Charlene went to the dining table with her parents.

Year Fifty of the Father God.

Charlene went to presented her own thought regarding her theories that people learn to know about. She went there with her parents so she was a bit nervous. She just went along with the flow and successfully gave a good presentation.

Her name was also something that many people within the Hinon Federation knew as a prodigy. Some people even knew her from the fact that they were the parents of Charlene’s peers in elementary school.

But the person in question did not mind much about it. Instead, she was on the verge of completing her study at the middle school’s material. She started to get in touch with the test trends in the academic world as well as the situation of the entire continent.

Furthermore, some of the government people came to visit her at this time. They said that they wanted to protect her since any children with potential like her had to be protected. It was because something happened that the Hinon Federation had to do this.

Charlene also realized this and did not refuse the offer. She also wanted to protect her parents so that they would not be harmed by anyone who targeted her.

As for the specific reason, there was a thing called ‘Snatcher’ that targeted talented young people like Charlene within the Hinon Federation. ‘Snatcher’ captured their talented target and then moved them to pces that even the Hinon Federation could not locate.

Presumably, they were the forces that the opponent of the Hinon Federation had built in order to inhibit the federation’s growth.

To the civilians, they were like terrorists so they became wary the moment the newspaper covered them.

As of this moment, the popution of the whole humankind had reached one hundred million. It was the total number of humans who inhabited the pnet including infants, toddlers, youngsters, middle-aged and old.

This also caused the people to seek to expand their territory. And that was why the world was on the brink of the total war. It was because the territory that each powerhouse on the Comberth Continent had was limited.

Even if some experts had discovered that the nd mass had increased, it would only be a matter of time before a rge war happened. Even the leaders of the powerhouses knew this. They wanted to be the leading figure for the human but they also did not want to risk total annihition either.

Furthermore, they were also pressurized by the constant worry that sometime in the future, another Star Battle would commence. This was a historical event that their predecessor had written and the proof existed.

So they made a contract. The contract stated that the first one to develop a world-destroying weapon would become the one who would unify the whole of humankind. It was at this time that the race of technological development reached its peak.

Charlene who had seen this through the newspaper was stunned. She wanted the human race to unify just like before she was born. She also had a small wish to be a part of the Star Battle whether it be as a logistic, as an executive who would give orders to the military leaders or even participate directly as a soldier.

Above all, she wanted to experience new things. This was her calling and she wanted to fulfill it.

“What do you think of this child of mine?” Dian was discussing the possibility of the child becoming the point of a breakthrough with Leif and the ex-Pnet Master he had defeated.

“I am not sure but she is the brightest child I have ever seen. That is for sure.” Leif replied but then he asked, “Master, what do you wish for?”

“My wish? It is for the human race to develop safely. After all, there is a long way before I can become the best Pnet Master. I am not even at the second rank.” Dian answered while looking at his information panel as a Pnet Master.

  […

  Rank: First Rank]

“But it is also for the human race to be unified since their enemies are ultimately the other race under different Pnet Masters.”

Dian looked at the Cerulean Pnet which was full of vitality and then shifted his gaze towards the ex Pnet Master. Since the beginning of their interaction, Dian did not even get his name. He was just doing his bare minimum to contain the undead race that appeared inside the Undead Secret Realm.

Other than that, he did not wish to communicate with Dian other than the commands given to him. For Dian though this was difficult. He knew that the Star Battle was a deadly affair but he wished to be able to accommodate the one who lost.

It was no better than those who stepped on others to reach the top, but he thought he could use them better than just annihiting them out of existence and collecting the rest of their energy points.

No, Dian thought it would be better if he could give them a purpose to do.

For example, he made Leif the one who was in charge of the situation of the Dwarves. Even though they were under the humans, Dian did not want to focus too much on them. After all, his human race was his primary focus since they were created on the pnet he managed.

  So he started another conversation.

“So what are you doing recently with the undead? Do you have fun with them?” Dian asked this since he perceived that the ex-Pnet Master loved his race thoroughly.

“Of course I am. They are my child so I cared about them. Just like how you cared about your human race.”

“There you go. I thought that you were not willing to communicate more than necessary.” Dian smiled when he got such a reply.

“I am sorry if that bothers you. I am just someone who is not used to company. Do you know what other Pnet Master called us who birthed the undead race? A true loner.” The ex-Pnet Master slowly spoke. But with it came loneliness that Dian felt strangely familiar.

Dian frowned. He had a bad feeling about this but asked anyway since this was probably something that Pnet Master should know.

  “Tell me more about it.”
