I woke up the next day, feeling refreshed, possibly for the first time in my life. The reason being, for the first time since I can remember, I had no nightmares. I felt like jumping up and down celebrating, but that was childish, and after yesterday, I’m not going to do something so childish. I’m a fully grown vampire now….or halfling. I wonder if I can still eat normal human food now. Luckily, my room was spared from the blood rain. Also, my family, specifically my grandfather, finally recognizes me now and finally respects me as a member of the family. I quickly got dressed and headed downstairs and things just felt different than usual. Everyone was downstairs as usual, but they were all waiting for me in the kitchen, with smiles of appreciation on their faces. The rain was falling, but that wasn’t enough to bring my mood down.
*Knock*
*Knock*
“Who is that this early in the morning?” Grampa said a little peeved
“It’s my friends, Sasha and Jayce.” I said, I admit, I kind of forgot about them in all the excitement
“Your human friends, send them away, we have work to do today. We have to train your abilities, you have no time for human school.” Grandpa said dismissively
“I think you should go talk to them.” Vivian said which shocked me, she was usually this approving of Sasha and Jayce.
“Vivian!!” Grandpa said and I could hear thunder rumbling in the sky
*Knock*
*Knock*
“For fuck’s sake.” Vivian said and moved past me to arrive at the door in a second and opened it
“H-h-hi Vivian, u-uhm, is Chrissy here?” Jayce stuttered
“Yeah, she seemed sick yesterday and we just wanted to check if she was ok.” Sasha said
“She’s fine, she just had a bad case of the runs, you know what I mean.” She said, whispering the last part in a mischievous voice and I looked at her angrily
“Oh.” Jayce said
“Is she alright to go to school then? Are you sure you don’t want to keep her home for a few more days?” Sasha asked and I looked over at Vivian
“Don’t worry, she can go with you? Although, if you don’t mind me asking, she mentioned some new friend of hers, named Victor something.” Vivian said
“Oh, you must mean Victor Grayson, he’s new in town, straight from New York, he is amazing. Too bad Chrissy was sick the entire time.” Sasha said
“Alright, it’s nice that Chrissy makes new friends. Alright kiddo, off you pop.” Vivian said and pushed me towards the door.
“What about-”
“Here you go.” She said and threw my bagpack towards me before I could finish my sentence.
“Oh, and take this too.” She said giving me an umbrella, before rushing me out the door and closing it.

“That bitch.” I said as the rain poured on me, and I quickly opened my umbrella
“She sure wanted you to leave in a hurry.” Sasha said
“How is it that she still looks so hot even after so many years?” Jayce said dumbly and I snorted, before rushing off to school

Third Person Perspective
“Alright, Chrissy is out of the house, we can talk now.” Vivian said as Edward stared at her enraged. She could hear thunder crackling in the sky and she rolled her eyes
“What do you want to talk about dear?” Camilla asked, and Vivian smiled, she was always more understanding and patient than her husband
“Chrissy, don’t you guys think it’s odd that she suddenly just gained her powers after draining some boy?” Vivian asked
“Maybe she just needed a hunt to stimulate her vampire instincts.” Edward said condescendingly
“We both know there is no way that’s the answer. Chrissy never had an instinct to hunt humans….until yesterday apparently.” She said
“Maybe it’s her eighteenth birthday.” Alaric offered and everyone looked at him
“Oh, and that’s so much worse than dad’s idea.” He defended himself
“That could have something to do with it, but I doubt it. I think it has something to do with that Victor kid. What exactly did she say happen yesterday?” Vivian asked, looking at both Elliot and Lilian
“Well, she said she went to school, smelled a sweet scent that connected to this Victor kid and for that entire day….she felt like her instincts were running wild, out of control.” Lilian narrated and everyone realized just how fishy that sounded. All human scents smelled pretty much the same to them, and it never illicits a reaction like that, unless they were starving. Which Chrissy wasn’t because they made sure she drank blood everyday.
“She also said she had to go into a temporary slumber, just to keep herself from attacking this Victor in school. You guys know how much Victor hates sleeping due to her nightmares, so that hunger must have been bad.” Elliot added
“I see what you’re getting at Vivian, my happiness blinded me.” Edward said
“I accept your apology.” Vivian said, and Camilla smiled
“So, everything comes back to this Victor kid then. We should find out who he is.” Alaric said
“Yeah, but how exactly do we do that? He’s new to town, no one knows anything about him.” Camilla said
“The internet, and the school records. I should head to the school and get Victor’s file. From there, I can search the internet.” Lilian said
“The internet.” Edward scoffed
“Sorry, we can search for his family tree in an old leger.” Lilian retorted and Alaric had to hold in a laugh
“Vivian, is something wrong?” Camilla asked Vivian who was quiet for a while now
“Do you guys remember when we took Chrissy to that old witch, Ursa?” Vivian asked
“That witch was clearly inexperienced, she didn’t know what she was talking about?” Edward snorted, remembering the amount of money he had to pay for nothing, but a vague response that didn’t help them in the slightest.
“She said Chrissy had magical deficiency, she said it was kinda like anemia in humans, except with magical energy. Which made sense at the time because Lilian was a human when she conceived her and that probably sliced the amount of magical energy in her body by half or something. Not allowing her to have less magical energy than a normal vampire, not enough to support her vampiric abilities, hence the lack of vampiric abilities till now. Like, a car without enough fuel.” Vivian explained
“What are you getting at Vivian?” Camilla asked
“I’m saying that Chrissy finally got enough fuel to use her vampire abilities. And she got it from that Victor kid. The witch even said it herself, that the only way to make her get her vampiric abilities is to get her strong source of magical energy, like a magical plant…or demon’s blood.” Vivian said
“You’re saying this Victor kid is a demon?” Lilian asked
“I’m saying that, what if Ursa was right? Then that means the only thing that could have awakened her powers is a strong source of magical energy. And demons and devils are as strong as it gets when it comes to magical energy. And the only thing out of the ordinary that happened yesterday was her feeding on that Victor kid. Plus there is also the fact that her instincts flared up yesterday, and our instincts are notoriously accurate when pointing us to what we need the most.” Vivian said
“OK, so say this Victor is a demon? Why would he let Chrissy feed on him?” Alaric asked
“Don’t know, but demons like to play a lot. So it could have just let Chrissy take a bite out of it, now it’s going to do something to her. It would also explain why Elliot couldn’t find his corpse.” Vivian said
“Then we should head to the school and make sure Chrissy is safe.” Lilian said getting up out of her seat
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Vivian said and Lilian turned around, furious
“Why not? Why shouldn’t I go and protect my daughter?” She said, her eyes glowing dangerously
“What I think Vivian means to say is that all of us can’t. We don’t want to irritate this demon, if he is a demon, he might interpret it as an attack and do something drastic. Like kill everyone in town, they are not bound to following the same rules as us.” Camilla supported
“You and Elliot should go, get that file on Victor Grayson and maybe we can figure something out. Make sure to stay out of sight as much as possible.” Vivian said and both Lilian and Elliot nodded their heads
“As for the rest of us, we’ll do what we always do, go to work.” She said
“Our cars are busted, Chrissy melted them with her weird blood rain.” Alaric said
“Don’t worry, I’ll fix them. Elliot, stop the rain please.” Vivian said as she headed towards the door. Elliot closed his eyes and concentrated, and a few seconds later, the rain stopped. Vivian and Alaric headed outside, and went towards the cars. Most of the metal was metal was melted, certain parts fell off and melted and all the glass was melted away. The cars were deformed simulacrums of their former selves. Vivian placed her hands out towards the cars, and activated her family ability. The cars suddenly started to shake and the pieces started going back together and the parts that were no longer their reappeared. Within fifteen minutes, both cars were back to their former glory. Alaric got back his silver Mercedes Benz and Vivian got back her red convertible.
“I wish I had your family ability.” Alaric said as he excitedly went into his car
