Chapter 5 Gone

I ran through the forest taking the long route home, which was around nine hundred meters. The memories of what just happened played continuously in my mind, and I soon arrived home, although I doubt I was running for long. I didn’t feel tired in the slightest and quickly straightened my clothes, although I doubt that would disguise the scent of a fresh kill from my family.

“You’re late.” I heard a voice from behind me as I was going to open the door and quickly turned around, looking at my mom who had a worried look on her face.

“Sorry mom, I was…busy.” I said, coming up with the lamest excuse ever

“Busy, with what, it’s only…” Mom said as she walked towards me, when she suddenly paused. She suddenly moved towards me, faster than any human could perceive, trying to grab my mouth, but I hit her hand away, which surprised me and her. But she quickly grabbed my mouth.

“Strange, you aren’t usually that fast. Now open your mouth.” She said, I didn’t want to, but she was stronger than I was and forced my mouth open. She could see my extended fangs and the fresh blood in my mouth.

“Did something happen? Don’t tell me you fed while you at school? But.” She said, trying to find out what happened, but I wasn’t in the mood.

“I don’t want to talk about it.” I said and opened the door, but she moved infront of me, blocking my path.

“Chrissy, I need you to tell me what happened.” Mom said in serious voice, the voice she used when I was in serious trouble

“I said I don’t want to talk about it!!” I screamed and pushed her across the living room into the kitchen. Now I was surprised by my strength, although I shouldn’t be at this point, and I knew my mother would be fine, although I won’t be once she got up. I quickly rushed up the stairs to my room, reaching inside in a literal second, before slamming the door shut and leaning against it.

“Chrissy, I can tell that you are scared, but I need you to answer a few questions alright?” I heard my mother say from behind the door.

  “…..Alright.” I replied

“Did you kill anyone?” She asked

  “Yes.”

“What did you do with the body?” She asked and my eyes widened as I realized I made a big mistake.

“…I left it in the alley way.” I answered and I swear I could hear my sense my mother’s frustration from behind the door. Although the veil was strong enough to prevent my vampiric features from being seen by humans, it wasn’t enough to make them not suspicious of a body, drained of blood. The last thing we want is rumors of vampires roaming around in town.

“Alright, I’m gonna need you to tell me exactly where you left the body.” Mom said

“It’s in the alleyway between the town council building and Mrs. Foresters bakery. On Ferguson street.” I replied

“Alright, don’t worry about anything, I’ll call your father and we’ll take care of the corpse.”

“His name is Victor, Victor Grayson.” I said

“Alright, we’ll make sure that we’ll give Victor a proper burial in the forest. You can stay here if you want and come downstairs when you are ready.” She said and went downstairs. I’m kinda happy that the rest of my family wasn’t here right now. I’m sure that my grandparents would have been overjoyed about the situation, aunty Vivian would be making jokes right now, my uncle would have probably wanted to see what I can do and, I’m not too sure what my dad’s reaction would be. The reason they are not here right now is because they are off doing their own thing, both mom and dad worked as doctors in the town, my aunt works in another town, my uncle is working in a different town and my grandparents are God knows where. I swept my hair from behind my ears as I listened to my mom downstairs.

“Elliot, how are you doing?” Mom said

“Alright, there aren’t many people in the hospital today, so not much work to do. What’s up?” He asked

“So, I have good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?” Mom said and cleared her throat

“Hit me with the good news.”

“Well, not sure why, but Chrissy awoke her vampiric abilities.”

“Honey, that’s great news, but are sure? It could just be momentary fluke, like the last time.” Dad said and I rolled my eyes, as he referred to an incident, eight years ago. On my birthday, I managed to move superspeed across the lawn. My family was happy of course, but I wasn’t able to do it again, and this it was labeled a fluke.

“Nope, this wasn’t a fluke. She pushed me from the door into the kitchen and then rushed superspeed up the stairs into her room and slammed the door.” She said

“Honey that’s great news. So, what’s the bad news?” Dad asked

“She may have killed someone, and left his corpse in an alleyway on Ferguson street. The one in between the town council building and Jenny’s bakery. I need you to go get it.” Mom replied

“That’s no big deal, but I’m gonna need you to call everyone home.”

  “Do I have to.”

“Honey, if you don’t, my parents have been looking forward to this since Chrissy have been born, are you sure that you want to find out what they will do to you and me by association if you don’t tell them.” Dad said and I could hear my mom groan

  “I’ll call them.”

“Thanks babe, love you.” He said before mom hung up

  Elliot POV

It didn’t take me long to reach the alleyway Lilian told me about. On the way, I couldn’t help but wonder whether what she had told me was true. It’s not that I doubted my wife’s honesty, but…I would not want to be disappointed once more. I have been waiting for Christina’s vampiric abilities to manifest for a long time, although short compared to how long I have lived, it felt longer due to my anxieties. I didn’t love her any less because of her lack of ability, but, I can’t help but wish that she was more like us.

“Well, Christina was definitely here along with someone else.” I said as sniffed around the alleyway, I could smell Christina along with someone else. The problem is that the some else should be dead, but there was no corpse. I looked around the alleyway and found a few droplets of blood on the wall. I conjured some droplets of water in my hand and washed away the blood, luckily Christina didn’t leave anymore evidence behind. Good girl. But the problem remains that there was no body, which means someone must have moved it. There was no scent trail left behind, so I couldn’t follow whoever took it.

‘I should head to the police station to see if they have anything.’ I thought and immediately rushed there. Once there, I immediately went in to talk to the sheriff, Robert Wildchild, someone that has looked out for Chrissy since she was young and who’s son is a friend of hers. Which is why I was reluctant to hurt him…unless necessary.

“Elliot, nice to…” He said, but I didn’t have time for pleasantries.

“Robert, has there been any strange corpses that came in today.” I asked using hypnosis, I could see my glowing eyes reflecting in his, which assured me that it was working.

“No.” He said in a monotone voice

“Well, contact me immediately if you do and tell no one.” I said before taking my leave
