I upgraded my proficiency multiplier to 1.2 after the second day.

  The next morning, we did the same training as the day before, but when I was done, I got a new message.

  “Hey, my sword proficiency went up” I said, exhausted.

  “Already?” dad said. “Hey, you might have even more potential then Lilith. It wasn’t until day 4 she hit proficiency 2” he said.

  This makes sense. You only get 15 exp from the daily training when you are still at home. If you wanted more, you would need to train somewhere else, or hunt monsters.

  There was some logic behind this, but it was mostly just scaling in the game.

  And the only reason I was growing this fast was because of the new game plus menu.

  And my current growth would go down once I hit proficiency of 5 because I would stop getting the bonus for parry.

  If I could pull off a guard break, the proficiency 10 skill, then I would get even more.

  The next day, we did the same training.

  But I had hit a new milestone.

  “Hey dad” I said, leaning on my sword, but less exhausted than previous days.

  “What is it Nyx?”

  “I hit proficiency 3”

  “What, in only a week?” Dad said, astonished. “You might be some type of genius,” he said with a huge smile.

  “Yeah, but when I hit 5, the growth will slow down a bunch," I said.

  “Don’t think of that now. Just focus on your training. I was hoping for another week of pure sword training, but that won’t be right with this. Tomorrow, I want you to do your now 2 mile run” he said, increasing the exercise, “Then meet with your mother to start magic training”

  “Yes sir” I say, then head back inside with Rose.

  I was getting used to more people again, so we went to the bath before heading back to my room.

  And that night, I put the 30 points I had now to increase my proficiency multiplier to 1.3x.

  The next morning, I went out and did my run, then went to find my mom.

  “Good morning Sweety” Mom said when I found her. She was in the room where I had taken my tutoring lessons.

  “Good Morning” I told her.

  “Well, we are going to be starting the magic lessons. But first, I need to know what basic info you have” she said. “So to start, how many basic elements of magic are there?”

  “Four. Fire, Water, Earth and Wind” I said.

  “Good, and how many advanced elements are there?”

  “Unknown. Since any element that isn’t one of the four basic elements is called advanced, and since a lot of them are hidden by groups, it is impossible to know.”

  “Correct. Your history teacher must have done a good job” Mom said with a smile. “Ok, how does the proficiency work?”

  “Oh, the power of magic is based on 2 things. The magic stat of a person, and their proficiency level. The power is boosted by the proficiency. This means to be truly strong, you need to have high values in both”

  ‘Very good. You must have learned that in a book. It’s great to see you take initiative” she said while giving me a hug. When she let me go, she started again. “So, to first learn the basics of magic, you need to learn to channel magic.” She started. “So I bought a few wands with me”

  She pulled out 6 different wands. Based on what elements mom knew, these must be for fire, water, wind, earth, lighting and ice.

  The way the wands worked was by taking in magic and casting the magic engraved in them. This makes it able to cast magic, learning the proficiency.

  They were probably the base spell of each element, which would be bolt for each.

  “Ok, today, I want you to cast the magic in each of these wands” she said.

  I picked up the first wand, and focused. I had read in a book that this was going to be like pouring energy from inside of me into the wand. It took me about 30 minutes to get it to work for me.

  But eventually, a small bolt of fire shot out of the wand.

  “You did it” mom cheered. I was learning that mom and dad were completely different teachers. “Now, move onto the next one”

  ANd with a little more attempts, I got through each of the wands.

  “You did great. I’m going to call it here for today” mom said. “In all honesty, I expected you to need more time to learn the more basic parts of magic. But with your extra time, I want you to do some exercise outside. Ask your dad what you should do”

  Whit that, she left and I got a bunch of new messages.

  When I asked dad, he gave me a number of different strength exercises to do. He didn’t give me any sword training for the day.

  And I spent the rest of the day trying to get more used to going pces in my house with more people.

  All the time, Rose had been following me.

  The next day, I had sword training again with dad.

  He had me do the 2 mile run again, which I was getting really good at.

  Then he had me do 200 practice attacks on a training dummy. I was getting better at these, only messing up probably 1 in 3 times.

  He had expined that he wanted to incrementally grow how much I was doing for the warm up.

  Then we went to the training match.

  Once again, he told me to aim for a lot of parry moves, and I was getting really good at those, doing around 5 this time.

  But even though the amount of growth I should get should have been higher, it seems like there is a max bonus I could receive.

  The next day I moved over to magic training with mom.

  She started the lesson by asking me what magic I wanted to learn today, to which I chose fire.

  The rest of the lesson was filled with her teaching me about fire magic and how spells work.

  And in the end, she had me just shoot off magic until I ran out of mp.

  At the end, I got the pop ups from the system.

  The pattern continued like this. Back and forth, every day between magic and sword training.

  And everytime I had enough points, I increased the amount of the multiplier.

  And as for sword lessons, I learned that the max bonus I could get from doing higher level skills was 3 times, and since dad only ever taught me the next skill, I did end up getting a pretty steady growth.

  Every sword lesson would give 45 EXP without the multiplier, while magic gave 15. This did mean I would learn the sword much faster, and since I was splitting my time with magic between every element, even more.

  I had 4 years until I started school, minus one month where I would be going to the capital to get ready, and the month I missed since I was scared of the outside world, that gives me 1380 days.

  4 years, I thought to myself. In four years, I have to be stronger.
