Training – 1

“DAD?!” I yelled, but he didn’t stop his attack. I could tell he was holding back. He was much faster and stronger than this.

“What are you doing?” I yelled at him, confused by this.

But he just continued to attack. And I was forced to continue to block and dodge all of his attacks.

This continued on for a decent bit of time. As we continued, I stayed focused on the rhythm of the blocks and dodges. As I got more and more exhausted, I could see dad get more excited.

Eventually after about an hour of this, he stopped and I colpsed forward, leaning on the practice sword.

As I panted in exhaustion, I heard dad start talking. “I know this might be strange, but I want you to know you did a good job. We’ll talk about this when you wake up”.

Confused by what he meant, I could feel my body falling over. It never hit the ground though.

And right before I lost consciousness, I saw a message pop up in front of me.

When I woke back up, I found myself back in my room.

But instead of it just being me and Rose, mom and dad were there as well.

When I saw them, my breath got heavy and my heart rate increased, but I tried to keep calm.

Rose had been helping me with this, teaching me to take deep breaths whenever this happened.

A few seconds ter and I was doing much better.

“Good afternoon, Nyx” dad started. “I’m guessing you want to know what was going on this morning”

  I nodded back at this.

“Firstly, let me apologize. I wanted to know if you wanted to start sword training, but I did not know how, with your current condition. Rose suggested a surprise mock battle to see what would happen if you didn’t have time to think about it” he expined. “I apologize for that”

  “Apology accepted,” I said sheepishly.

But, when I thought about it, their pn was perfect. Outside of the time when she vanished, my mind focused on the fight and I wasn’t scared.

“Other than that I have to say, you did a very good job. You already have both sword’s guard skill and the dodge roll skill” Dad said. “But never mind that, I want to ask, do you want to start your training?”

  This was it.

I had wanted to start training so much, but something ate at me. I was still scared.

Of both hurting people and getting hurt.

“We would start out quite slow, ease you into it” Dad said, seeing my apprehension.

But a few seconds ter, I gave my answer. “Yes, I want to start”

With my response, dad gives a smile. But before he can say anything, mom jumps in front of him.

“And you want to start Magic training as well, right?” she said, very expectant.

“Yes I do” I said, resolved in my determination.

After finishing the prologue in Starcross Adventure, you are given the chance to grind with your character.

THis is though an optional set of basically minigames where you level up your proficiencies.

The game no matter what moved your profency up to 15 when the game started, so it only mattered if you wanted to either learn a new weapon, which then lowered each level to 10 when the game started, and then 5 if you learned a third, or you wanted to grind even higher.

When turning the game into real life though, that minigame changed into the training I was doing with my family.

SInce this counts as a game event, everytime I do it, I gain points for new game plus.

It’s also a good change to level up a bit, since I think that real life won't have the auto level up. And it's a good idea to be stronger for school.

Today is the first ever sword lesson with my dad.

I was wearing the same clothing as yesterday, which I had pced as the beginner adventure clothes from the game. Except I switched the boots out to ankle length boots. That was both a personal style choice and a practical one. The other boots made it hard to fully bend my legs.

“Ok, to start, I want a mile run from you” dad said.

“Yes sir” I say back, out of respect to my teacher. Dad was a very powerful man and deserved respect when he was teaching me.

I started the mile run he gave me. I am not very fast, and have low endurance currently, but I finished the mile pretty quickly.

“Alright. That was passable. Next, I want you to do 100 practice swings. I’ll count for you” He said next. He gave me a different practice sword than before. This one was much heavier, making it harder to move it.

  “Yes sir” I say again.

As I start the 100 practice swings, I go through what I feel is a natural combo. A downward swing, then a side swing, and stly a thrust.

I was off bance for the first one, and instead of counting up, dad just says, “Again”

I know he would only count the perfect strikes.

It took a while but eventually I got in a grove and finished them all.

But even with that, it still took well over an hour to get through all 100.

“Ok, stly, I want us to have another practical dule. But I want you to try and parry my attacks. You can do this by pushing back my sword whenever you successfully guard against one of my attacks, pushing me off bance” he told me.

Our practice match sted another few hours, and again ended with my exhaustion.

But, in the end, I was able to parry him once.

The reason dad wanted me to learn to parry was because it was the sword proficiency 5 skill.

Using a skill before you unlocked it gives bonus EXP.

Based on today, each one gives about 10 bonus EXP.

  ∴

I woke back up in my room with Rose.

She was watching my training so it made sense she brought me back here.

“You did quite good today” she told me.

“Thank you” I said, trying to move my body.

“You should take it easy. You’ll be back at it tomorrow” She told me.

I just id it back down.

But I wanted to check something.

Opening my status, I went to the new game plus option and looked at the enhancement section.

  New Game Plus?

  Points:20

  Enhancement?

  Level Multiplier: 1 - Cost 10 Points

  Proficiency Multiplier:1 - Cost 10 Points

Instant Level Up - Cost 100 Points

Instant Sword Proffencey Up - Cost 100 Points

  Skills?

  I could afford something now.

I select the ‘Proffency Multiplier’ and it changes.

  New Game Plus?

  Points:0

  Enhancement?

  Level Multiplier: 1 - Cost 10 Points

  Proficiency Multiplier:1.1 - Cost 20 Points

Instant Level Up - Cost 100 Points

Instant Sword Proffencey Up - Cost 100 Points

  Skills?

If I am right, I should now gain 1.1x as much proficiency.

After that, I hear someone drop something off.

When I was training with dad, he made sure that no one else was around for me.

  So this was probably lunch.

Rose went and got it. She pced the tray on my bed so I could eat without leaving the bed.

After lunch, we spent the rest of the day together.

  ∴

The next day, I had sword practice with dad again.

He wanted a good amount of time to build my indurance before I started magic training with mom.

The exercise was the same, just with a longer run, now 1.5 miles, and more swings, 150 this time.

And during the practice match, I pulled off 3 parries this time.
