You sit around, pile some apple slices and sugar into a crust, throw some cinnamon on top, put that mess into an oven, and 45 minutes later you have a pie. Well, if you substituted a sufficiently fresh corpse and just a smidge of magic for the apple slices and sugar, you might just end up creating a very different kind of pie.
