Chapter 53. Sci-fi city.

“What did you want?” Anise asks as she wobbles slightly, dizzy due to Xania and from the aftereffects of the depletion of her divinity.

“Look, I just wanted to show you this since you like to do research so this could help and you may also be able to help improve it,” Xania uses divinity on her new magic circle on herself as her hair changes to green colour, Anise’s expression unchanging.

“So? I already knew you could do that,” Anise said while looking bored, causing Xania to look like a dejected child who was ignored by their parents for something they were proud of.

Anise sighs as she notices Xania’s change in attitude “My lord, why are you acting like a child?” She says as Xania gets slightly annoyed before showing her an improved version of the spell she was using along with handing over a notebook.

“My lord, here, it is my research on divinity. You could probably do more due to your amount of divinity and talent at manipulating divinity,” Anise said while still holding out her note as Xania tries to reject it, not wanting to copy all of Anise’s hard work.

Anise keeps trying to force her research onto Xania as she keeps resisting.

“Fine then, since you won’t take my research, why not help contribute to it?” Anise suggests as Xania thinks for a moment.

“Sure, seems fun!” Xania said proudly and enthusiastically.

“Alright my lord, how about we start off with the first one? I think I figured out how to use the core to make a proper memory cube now so infuse it with mana and divinity,” Anise says as she backs up away from the core slightly while Xania approaches it.

“So… anything I need to know or do I just infuse it in?” Xania asks with Anise shaking her head.

“Don't worry my lord, it's safe,” Anise said while standing over 10ft away and hiding behind some shields.

“Yea, your actions are so comforting right now,” Xania said sarcastically before placing her right hand on the core.

She takes a deep breath before starting to infuse, staring slowly before slowly increasing, the core itself absorbing it in and turning cyan as it does so but also making it harder to control.

After a while, Xania pulls away as she feels the core filled up.

“My lord, you should back up, just in case you know?” Anise said as she gave Xania a forced reassuring smile with the core behind her seemingly about to explode, not as reassuring.

Xania walks up to Anise, creating a couple layers of shield too to help protect.

This content has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

After a bit longer of the core’s seemingly potential explosion, it calms down and the cyan fades from it as a small memory cube appears above.

“How does that work?” Xania wonders while teleporting them both in front of the cube as she turns to look at Anise, “My lord, I honestly don't completely understand it,” Anise said while picking the cube up.

“My lord, should we break it open?” Anise asked with Xania not responding at first.

“Anise, up to you, you're the main concern contributor to it,” Xania said as she tries to be considerate on the off chance Anise wants it for her research.

Anise looks at Xania, clearly curious as she passes it to her to break.

“Thanks!” Xania said while quickly infusing divinity into it.

As it breaks open, another bream of white exit exits from the crack, engulfing the whole room as the scenery changes around them.

Anise and Xania find themselves in a kingdom, the same one that keeps appearing in memory cubes but this time devoid of other people.

“Anise, this feels weird,” Xania said while quickly grabbing Anise's tail so as to not get lost.

“I know my lord but it's my first time doing this, can't expect it to be perfect now can you?” Anise said as she walked down the empty streets of the kingdom, finding each building somewhat damaged, all their belongings left behind as if in a rush.

“My lord, this feels like some horror movie,” Anise said as she hugs Xania's arm with Xania holding her tail still.

“I know okay?” Xania said as she finally arrived at the front of the castle.

“My lord, do we have to enter that?” Anise asked, hoping for a ‘no’ despite a ‘yes”.

“How am I supposed to know? I'm just assuming since most of the other memories happened in the castle,” Xania says, entering the castle and finding it equally as abandoned with people's stuff left on the grounds as if they didn't bother to even bring them.

Xania looks around the castle before they both feel a fluctuation of divinity from below.

“Well, that's our only hint, so…” Xania said before attempting to blast the ground up with her attacks not working even with physical, mana and divinity infused attacks.

“Wow, tough huh? Guess we gotta find the stairs or something,” Xania said as Anise finally let go of her arms to look, her curiosity overwhelming her fear.

Anise looks around as she notices a unique looking door and tries to open it but finds no handles with the door also being unable to be pushed open or broken down, “my lord! Come here!” Anise shouts with Xania reaching immediately with teleportation.

“Yes?” Xania asked, wanting to know what she could have found already.

“Look,” Anise said, pointing to the doors made with seemingly metal-like material.

Xania and Anise keep trying to open the door, each attempt failing before Xania notices a small button with an arrow down in ut and follows her instinct, pressing it.

The button starts glowing red as Xania watches it for any other changes.

“My lord, what do you do?” Anise asked, worried that Xania created some trouble as the doors suddenly opened.

(Arriving, base floor, please beware of the gap inbetween)” The room behind the door sounds out, confusing Anise and Xania due to the lack of people as they enter.

“How weird,” Anise said, turning over to Xania who looks more curious by the insides as the door suddenly closes, surprising Anise and Xania and making them panic.

“My lord, I think this is a trap!” Anise sounds, prepared to try blasting the door open as the room suddenly starts moving downwards, divinity emanating from the walls as the room moves.

Xania stops Anise due to being curious and knowing that they are completely unable to damage the material the door is made of.

A while later, the doors open as the room stops moving, revealing a city you'll only find in sci-fi genres under the kingdom with buildings as high as mountains, the streets lit with devices powered in divinity with the bustling of people everywhere, not acknowledging their presence with some even walking through them.
