Xania watches as he immediately appears in front of her, being able to see his movements partially due to the training provided by Davien but still not being able to match it without teleportation.
She dodges some invisible attacks made using sword will, rushing in to attack him as he strengthens himself with his sword will.
“Annoying bastard.”
Xania starts exchanging hits with him, blocking some of his hits while some get through, not even being able to cause any bleeding but causing her some pain as she isn't able to land any hits.
“How annoying, stupid dragon slayer.”
“I could say the same about you demon lord, even if you didn't block, this would take so long just to defeat you.”
Covier suddenly starts adding some invisible attacks combined with his physical attacks, causing Xania to not be able to keep up, eventually giving up and focusing solely on defending.
“Discarding defending for attacking? In your case I suppose that's a bit smart but…”
He stops the invisible attacks, focusing all of his sword will completely on his sword, being able to cause Xania to bleed, albeit very slightly.
“tsk…” Xania starts defending again, a lot more than before, leaving her with no opportunity to attack as he starts attacking her completely, much faster and stronger than before due to Xania's lack of attacking.
“Damn… this feels oddly familiar doesn't it?” Xania thinks to herself before creating many layers of shield around herself, sending him back slightly and using the small window of time to use detection magic.
A couple kilometers away, she detects a being with an extreme amount of mana, using the elves scouting magic to check who it is.
“Davien?”
“No getting distracted.”
Covier sends Xania flying away albeit still with basically no injuries with Xania healing herself, causing his attack to become pointless.
“Is that nuisance waving at me right now? He knows I can see him but he's still doing this?”
Xania gets sent flying again, causing her attention to refocus on Covier and pissing her off.
“Did this guy not learn manners?”
Xania sends a wave of mana, sending more as he blocks it.
“Hey buddy… you really want to make this into a test of endurance?”
“Why not? With how wide your attack is due to your bad aim, you'll run out of mana first.” He points to the destroyed terrain behind him due to excess mana which missed completely.
“...”
Xania looks over at Davien again, seeing him still waving while encouraging her with gestures.
“This bastard set me up…”
“Blob, you can heal right? You won't die?”
“Well…”
“Yes or no?”
“Not easily?”
“So no. Spread yourself onto my body.”
“Huh?”
“If you do this, the bastard won't be able to attack me without screwing his weapon too.”
“Won't you get hurt?”
“Not much at all, and healing magic will compensate.”
“Very well.”
Blob spreads himself onto Xania's body, acting as a makeshift piece of stupid looking armor.
“Melt his weapon into nothing.”
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
“No promises, but I'll try.”
“Good enough, melt his stupid face off too if possible.”
“...”
Xania starts attacking again, focusing much less on defense and a lot more of attacking, still not able to push him back“screw it, there's gotta be a way.”
Xania racks her mind, trying to come up with a solution.
“Well, I could… nah, the risk is unknown and probably high.
Covier sends her flying for the third time, causing her to be very pissed off.
She slowly stands back up, glaring at him.
“... I ought to control myself.”
Xania starts sending many waves of mana at Covier along with all the magic she has at her disposal, completely destroying the environment with Covier continuously dodging but not being able to get closer.
“Hey demon lord, isn't this cheating?”
“Shut it.”
Xania increases her attacks, forcing as much mana into each of them to their max capacity.
As she does so, Covier starts struggling a bit more before using his sword will to use his invisible attacks, deflecting some of her attacks, allowing him to start easily dodging again.
“Irritating bastard… this isn't perfected yet but I'll just try it.”
Xania starts using mana to reinforce her body, increasing her physical strength tremendously while stopping all her magical attacks.
“If I had more time to experiment with strengthening my body with mana, it wouldn't be draining so much right now.”
Xania starts attacking with her scythe again, intending on suppressing him with her now guaranteed higher physical strength as he dodges with ease.
“This guy was not that strong before, why is he pretending to be weaker than he is?” She thinks to herself.
“No way, Davien also does this shit when he fights with me under the premise of training, did that bastard tell him to do this?”
Xania thinks for a moment before sighting and teleporting away slightly.
“Blob, get off of me.”
“Sure?”
Blob gets off of Xania as she starts materialising a colourless glow in her hand.
“Demon lord, isn't that..” Xania cuts Blob off as she tries to finish her sentence.
“Yep, that weird divinity thing, if it belongs to the gods then it must be useful.”
“You probably shouldn't…”
“Yea, but so what? That guy's pissing me off.”
Xania looks over at Covier who is just standing still watching without a care.
Xania combines her dark mana with the colourless divinity, causing it to turn pitch black.
She infuses it into her scythe, causing it to crack slightly, surprising her as she sends the attack, causing the entire area in front of her to be flattened out, hurting Covier slightly by a good amount.
“Just another hit and this guy might as well be screwed.”
Xania starts preparing more as she suddenly feels a hand on her head, causing her to turn around, finding Davien behind her.
“Yes?”
“Miss Xania, if you could refrain from killing him?”
“Why should I? You're the one who schemed with him to ‘test’ me aren't you?”
“Not really, I was asking him for something before related to you, but he said he wanted to test you so I didn't give a damn.”
“Give what?”
“Why don't you ask him?”
“Because I'm the reason he's in his current state.”
Xania points over at Covier as Davien just crosses his arms, not caring.
“What?”
“Miss Xania, turn around.”
Xania turns around, finding a sword being. Swung at her face as Davien blocks it with his sword.
“...”
“Miss Xania, you ought to be more careful when fighting opponents.”
“...”
Xania starts preparing divinity again.
“Miss Xania, not a good idea.”
“Why? You said to be more careful so I should just kill him right?”
“No, you already used too much divinity and forcefully combined it with dark mana.”
“Huh, so? And how do you even know what I did or the consequences which I still don't know?”
“How about we talk about it when you wake up?”
“Wha—”
Xania faints immediately, the divinity she was gathering dissipating, sending Covier and Davien back slightly.
“So?” Davien asks, facing Covier.
“So what?”
“So, what did you think?”
“Good enough I suppose, though the amount of divinity… is she—”
“Maybe? What does it matter?”
“You're playing with fire, you'll be the first to end up dead if you mess up.”
Davien chuckles a bit, using his finger to mimic wiping a tear off his face despite only having a black coloured-fire at his head due to the dark mana and a skull under the fire.
“Something funny?”
“Not at all, I just didn't expect you to care so much.”
“I don't, I simply care for my own future.”
“Sure, anyways, aren't you gonna pay up? Unless you intend to break your promise?”
“Unlike you, I do keep my promises.”
Covier throws a key to Davien who catches it midair, stringing the key around Xania snack like a necklace.
“Still it is an irony, a man, once the strongest human who once vowed to kill all demons, made a deal with one and even works for one now, a role model to billions reduced to this just for…”
Covers voice trails off as he notices Davien's bloodlust despite him usually being calm.
“I hope you know when to stop.”
“Fine.”
Covier takes an object from Davien as he injects mana into it, teleporting away.
Davien looks down at Xania who is asleep.
“Miss Xania, smart idea to make a counter in case of fainting, to think you used the elves magic to add a recording method to your bracelet. Forgive me for this.”
Davien uses his sword will, breaking Xania's bracelet with an invisible attack, causing her arm to turn sore too along with all the objects getting teleported out, though there wasn't much.
“Oops, maybe I used too much strength.”
Anise suddenly teleports beside, healing Xania's arm.
“Davien, I'll only overlook this once.”
“Of course miss Anise, this was for her own good anyways. Besides, you only agreed because you were curious what business I had with the dragon slayer didn't you?”
“So what? You even used mana to prevent me from hearing in.”
“Listening in is rude don't you know?”
Anise sighs, carrying Xania onto her back.
“You're making her a new bracelet. And you're also going to pick all that stuff up.”
Anise points to all the stuff on the ground due to Davien breaking Xania's bracelet.
“Also, since you forced my lord to do this, her scythe got damaged, so you'll figure it out.”
“How did you expect me to do so?”
“I'm not asking.”
Anise teleports away with Xania.
“...”
“Why do I get punished when I try to help?”
