School of the Periodic Elemental

She wakes up, stretches as she turns down the thermostat to a lukewarm temperature. She groans as she looks at her hands that are covered in uranium.

“Shit.. still the same..” she whispered to herself as she put her gloves on then she gets dressed, looking at herself in her mirror. “Hopefully no one finds out that i’m a freak..” she sobbed a little as she left her room with quiet tears.

Later, while she’s at school, her hands start glowing bright green as people stare at her, she tries her best to hide it but everyone knows now. She’s a freak.

Or that’s what she thinks. A boy speaks up. “Ura! Your hands are glowing!” He said with confusion and curiosity. “I-I know.. i’m a freak..” she replied with sorrow. The boy spoke up again. “What element did you get? I got copper! Also. My names cooper!” He said happily. “H-Huh..? Element..?” She spoke up with confusion. “Yeah! At our age we get assigned a element, it’s like a power we can control, we can use any state of our element or object made out of our element! We also become immune to radiation.” He shouted gleefully. She looked at her element on her shoulder then looked at the periodic table. “Uranium.. i got uranium..” she said back. “That’s really strong! You got lucky! It also fits your name! Wanna be friends?” He speaks with joy in his voice. “S-Sure.” She was blushing because no one ever paid attention to her.
