Chapter Three - Surface

I saw them taking their metallic tools and pried open some shells hidden within the corals and took the glistening spherical object within.

I was curious if they can see me, so I drew near. But even within striking distance of their arms there was still no sign that they are aware of my presence.

After a short period of time, I saw them go up and disappear from this blue world.

And I wondered, what is up there?

To satisfy my curiosity, a bold idea grew in my mind, and I sticked to one of the humans’ body as they went up to the surface.

And there, I saw the sky, as blue as the world I was born in.

It was beautiful and, in the surface, I saw the undulating waves of my birthplace.

The men swam to a nearby floating wood that was shaped strangely.

I was waiting to be brought inside that wooden structure when something unexpected happened.

A force detached me from the man that was ferrying me, and a force of nature made me float in the air.

Rising above, I feared this force that I was not able to control. Unlike the world below, where I can move with freedom, the surface restricted my movements.

A sense of helplessness filled me as I floated away from where I was.
