- Oh, we were worried about you! I'm relieved you're awake! - The voice seemed to want to offer me another of the makeshift bnkets, but the figure didn't enter the house.
Who could he be? His appearance seemed strange, but his color... that was familiar. Was he one of the orcs? I couldn't remember his face.
- How long have I been out? - I asked, trying to regain my senses.
- Hm? At least three days. We young people kept an eye on you occasionally. I'll call Gashdo-Sama. - He replied, before walking away to fetch the leader.
- Ah... thank you... - I said, still dazed, trying to adjust to what was happening.
This vilge had such a handsome young man? I had been so absorbed in so many other things that I hadn't even noticed the details.
As I stood up, I could hear some light footsteps approaching, and once again I was surprised by a different face.
- Have a great day, Satouma-Sama. I'm relieved that you're recovering! - Said the new figure, a man who seemed to be about my height, something like six feet tall, and who spoke to me with a naturalness I hadn't expected.
- Yeah... thanks... but who are you? - I asked, still a little disoriented.
He smiled and introduced himself, with a lightness that surprised me even more.
- Smile It's me, Gashdo.
- Ah, Gashdo-san... Wait, are you really Gashdo-san?!
I was starting to lose the thread. His appearance had changed so much that it was almost impossible to believe. His body was more athletic, his hair, his height... even his markings, which had once been softer, now seemed more defined. He was a completely different man.
- What happened in those three days? - I asked, anxiety growing inside me.
- It was because of your blessing. When you appointed us, we ended up gaining a great deal of power, which allowed us to evolve. - Gashdo expined with a proud smile on his face.
That expined a lot. If Gashdo-san, with all his strength, had changed so much, imagine what the other orcs might have experienced. My exhaustion now seemed more understandable.
Still lost in my thoughts, I began to hear light footsteps coming towards us. A familiar presence, a pressure that made me shiver, like the sensation I felt on the day of the battle...
- Excuse me... Young Dait announced to everyone that Your Majesty had recovered. - A soft but firm voice echoed in the distance.
I waited a moment, trying to understand what was going on, and then I looked at the approaching figure. The antennae, the eyes...
- Wait... Anthalia?! - I excimed in disbelief.
What happened in those three days? How could I have missed that?
As I questioned myself, she smiled and bowed slightly to me.
***
I still wonder what happened in those three days.
The monsters have changed... or, rather, grown and evolved completely. While this is shocking, I realize that finding something so impressive shouldn't mean anything, after all, I'm the best example of such a transformation.
Maybe I should call it evolution, but... Receiving a name causes a real change, doesn't it? Apparently, names confer some kind of protection on the individual, but am I really sure about that? Syphus didn't give me much of an expnation.
Some monsters can undergo significant changes in their physical attributes, or even transform completely. In my case, the transformation went a little beyond evolution; it was a true reconfiguration. Not only did I inherit some of Syphus' gifts, but my appearance and even my race changed. I think that, at this point, I can no longer call myself human.
Gashdo-San, with his watchful eye, had commented on something simir. Monsters like him don't have enough power to give themselves a name, perhaps not even the ability to achieve such a feat. But I, alone, ended up bearing the weight of naming 70 individuals in a few hours. Fatigue didn't come immediately thanks to the relief of tension and stress caused by my healing power, which acted almost automatically. However, if it hadn't been for that, I would probably have colpsed by the third dozen or so orcs.
Still, the process was interesting to watch, to say the least. The evolution of their race was impressive. When I first met them, their appearance was much more primitive: ft noses, obvious tusks, exaggeratedly rounded ears. Some were slender, while others were robust. Females share these physical characteristics.
Now, the change is more noticeable. The faces, once wild and intimidating, have become more harmonious. The fangs, although still present, are no longer so obvious, and yet their physical strength remains intact. In fact, their muscles have become more defined, giving them a more refined aesthetic.
The change in the females, however, cannot be ignored. They now dispy more feminine characteristics, even more delicate affections. But the real transformation is in their bodies, which forced me to take action.
I gathered some of them together to make clothes. With my [Silk Threads], we created makeshift garments, using the coats of animals they had hunted and the smooth threads I had. Little by little, we distributed the clothes to the local residents. For a brief moment, we almost had a sort of “nudist fair” there. At least the orcs didn't seem to see any harm in it.
Before his evolution, I asked Gashdo-San what had happened. Apparently, the same thing that happened to me in that cave also happened to them, but in a convenient way. They were overcome by fatigue at one point and when they woke up, their appearances had changed, but without any pain or suffering.
That's great, considering that if everyone went through the same process as me, they probably wouldn't survive.
The tailoring process, although tiring, is being done with care. I'm not a renowned tailor, but with a little help, I've managed to improvise some outfits. For the men, we've created silk tunics with wild animal skins to cover their most sensitive parts. For the women, the same style, but with less fur and a top to cover their chests.
Before, they were dressed from head to toe, but with evolution, their bodies suffered a drastic reduction in some areas, while other parts... well, let's just say they became considerably more evident. This could be a problem in the future, so we had to hurry.
