“Class selection is one of two factors that primarily determines one's path. Beyond providing class skills, it is the primary method for people to gain raw power or stats. Therefore picking a poor or lesser class will lead to being stuck at a bottleneck permanently. However, the opposite is also true: those who inherit or possess strong classes advance far and fast. And those true geniuses, well they got more than just a class to back them up.”
Artificer Dragulius Dirtmeyer 27th Era.
The first thing that immediately became apparent upon opening his class choices was how many more he had. Instead of the four options he was expecting due to his previous selection, he had hundreds of thousands at the very least.
There were only a few that he could currently see. The remainder seemed to be hidden behind extra tabs or something of that nature. Otherwise, he doubted he could have seen or understood any of the information provided. Seeing as there were so many, he wanted to avoid going through and categorizing each one.
Hoping that once again the MMOs from back on Earth had the system pegged he searched for a filter of some kind. After a little bit of searching, he finally came upon a button with what looked like sliders on it. Crossing his metaphorical fingers, he mentally clicked the button, which brought up another window.
On that window, a rather basic question appeared:
Pick a class archetype
Combat. Profession
Note you can only select one.
He was initially confused by the window but quickly understood what it was asking. He discarded the profession class as it just wasn't viable for him. Which, naturally, left only the combat class
When he selected “Combat” the screen disappeared. Then, seemingly after a couple of seconds of calculations or buffering -- he couldn't be sure -- another screen appeared.
Would you like to view classes you do not qualify for
Yes No
This time the choice made him pause slightly longer than the previous one. He was certainly curious about all the potential class choices, but considering the sheer amount of classes there were, there was no conceivable way that he could go through them all within the limited time he had. He also didn’t want to get bummed out over potentially insanely powerful classes he didn't qualify for.
Choosing “No,” the screen disappeared and another one replaced it.

Instead of wading into the mess of options in the miscellaneous category he just decided to take the recommended and move on.

Seeing the rarity and ranking system put into context how, well, shit his first class was. Sure, the stat points were nice but most of his points came from his titles and legacies. His class on the other hand provided almost nothing. Knowing this he easily decided to exclude the common rarity class.
After he selected the option to remove it another screen appeared showing his options.

Fire Mage
Lightning Mage
Spellsword
Gobin Butcher
Monster Hunter

Another difference from when he first selected a class was the number of classes. The first time around he had 4 choices. But this time there were 10. Although he didn't have a truly difficult time deciding which class to pick between the four original choices this time was looking to be a lot harder. To make his life easier he decided to eliminate some classes based on their names.
First, he removed the Mage classes. Frankly, he had no interest in becoming a pure mage. His ability with the blade would be nice and useless with that type of class. It also just didn't fit him.
Finally, he removed “Goblin Butcher.” Although it had a super cool name, he didn't really want to specialize in killing green things. There was also the fact that specializing in a certain enemy type felt like a way to get killed quickly.
So, with the options he definitely didn't want to be removed he decided to look into each class a little bit more.

He certainly had his work cut out for him deciding which class to pick. However, he sure as shit did know one thing: He was not going to be picking “Monster Hunter.”
