Chapter 726
Anton and Enoril were eating breakfast when the elf told him that ever since last night, Enoril had been bothered by a lot of his friends’ families. They were basically pumping him for information about Anton.
“That meant that you did not even have to wait until all the Avatar movies were shown. You can probably start ordering some of the things that you wanted from our artisan.”
“Is that right? You’ve seen the tiny house I use for travel. Can you bring me to an artisan so I can order a customized one?”
“Sure. One of our carpenters, Darodil, also watched the movie last night with his family, so I’m sure he’ll be open to making you your tiny house.”
After breakfast, Enoril brought Anton to where the carpenter lived.
“Darodil, are you home?” Enoril loudly said when they reached one of the houses in what the elf called the artisan lane.
“Enoril. How can I help you?” An elf came out.
Anton just sighed when he saw the elf. The carpenter was supposed to be an older artisan, but he just looked as young as Enoril.
“You know Anton. He’s the one who brought the Avatar films. We’ll be watching the second movie tonight,” Enoril introduced Anton.
“Good day to you, human. The movie that you received from that other dimension is one of the best things I’ve ever seen. How can I help you?” The carpenter asked.
“During my travels, I’ve been using a tiny wooden house that has a small kitchen and a toilet. I was hoping that one of the forest elf artisans could make me one with all the vaunted artistry that only your people could produce,” Anton replied.
They went to Darodil’s workplace, and Anton brought out his tiny house. The elven carpenter inspected the details of the tiny house and said to him that it was easy enough to make.
“This is actually a great idea, as long as you have a large enough spatial item,” Darodil commented, studying the details of the house.
“Do you want me to add some magic items fueled by mana stones?” The elf carpenter asked.
“No, thank you. I’m also an enchanter and have created the enchanted items that I’m using for cooking, heating, and cooling. The toilet is simply being cleaned by my cleaning spell. I don’t want it to be complicated. I just want it to be sturdy and beautiful,” Anton said.
“I can do that. It will take me seven days,” Darodil said.
“How much is it?” Anton asked.
The elf carpenter did not answer but instead invited Anton and Enoril inside his home. Darodil served his two guests with tea and joined them at the table.
“If your movie was recorded using a magic item recorder, can people still watch it without any problems?” The elf carpenter asked after a few minutes of them drinking tea.
Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more.
“The quality will decrease, but it will not be that noticeable, especially if the movie that you’re going to watch is not heavy on special effects. We haven’t found a way to copy the 3d version, though. Let me show you an example.”
Anton then handed one of the few remaining magic item recorders in his inventory. Curiously, the movie that was recorded in the item was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Darodil knew how to work the magic item recorder and, after a few seconds of adjustment, pointed it at the nearby wall. The beginning credits appeared, and they all watched the film for a few minutes. After around fifteen minutes, Anton asked Darodil to stop the film and asked for the magic recorder back from the carpenter.
“What movie was that?” Enoril asked excitedly.
“That’s the third film of the seven-film Harry Potter movies,” Anton answered.
“You’ve mentioned several film franchises. Harry Potter is the boy wizard, right?” Enoril asked, and Anton just nodded.
“As you can see, the quality of the movie is still good enough to watch,” Anton told the elf carpenter.
Anton knew why Darodil was asking such questions, but he did not point them out. He wanted the carpenter to ask.
“Instead of paying me with coins, can you just give me copies of the Avatar films?” Darodil finally asked.
At first, Anton wanted to play haggling with the carpenter, but remembered that the elf probably had centuries on him and could out-haggle him to the ground. He decided to be straightforward.
“I can give you copies of the three Avatar films, but one tiny house is not enough,” Anton replied.
“What else do you need?” Darodil asked.
“I want a full set of furniture. Like a bed, a wardrobe, a table, chairs, and more to fully furnish a manor. I know that’s a lot to asked but as you’ve seen, I did not only have one movie franchise. You can decide how many items the three Avatar films are worth. We will be watching more movies after them, and I can also give you copies of them. You can decide how many more items you can add. I know the forest elves are one of the most honorable races and will not cheat a young wizard like me,” Anton said.
Anton knew that his words were not nice because they were a form of trap. For a moment, he thought that Darodil would explode and would start scolding him or something, but the elf carpenter started laughing instead.
“You have a deal, young wizard,” Darodil stood up and shook Anton’s hand.
Once Anton and Enoril were outside Darodil’s house, he was having second thoughts. Did he take advantage of the situation, or was he the one who was taken advantage of? He knew that the films could be a source of huge wealth, as was already proven by Romina back in Ormunda. After a few minutes of thinking, Anton just shrugged. The situation inside the forest was different from a populated kingdom like Ormunda, so even if the carpenter started a cinema with the few movies he would receive from Anton, then elf would have a limited pool of customers, so he was sure that the elves would not do such a thing. He even scrapped the idea of opening a branch inside the forest due to the same reason. Besides, movies recorded in magic item recorders degrade over time, so the copies were not something permanent that could be handed down in the family. According to his friends back on the ship, the life span of movies inside the recorders was at most two to three years, and could be shorter depending on how much it was used.
“At least one of your goals was achieved,” Enoril said.
“Yes. Once the last Avatar film was shown, I’ll try to purchase some spellbooks unique to your people,” Anton told the elf, and Enoril just shook his head.
Spells, especially unique to specific races, were valuable things. If he managed to purchase those spellbooks, it would prove that his movies were truly valuable things.
Anton and Enoril headed to the tavern where they went yesterday. Upon entering the establishment, the tavern was full to the brim. He should not have been surprised. Enoril did not even look guilty. Enoril then said that everyone in the tavern was his friend. They were accorded a table near the stage.
They were immediately served food, and after a few bites, Anton bowed to the inevitable and started showing one of the Journey band’s old concerts. Every elf in the tavern was amazed at the size of the audience watching the rock band’s concert. Anton made sure that the sound was overly loud as befitting a rock concert. Soon, everyone was standing and clapping like one of the original audience members in the concert venue.
