Chapter One

"Empty your mind", I whispered to myself.

My words were pushed away by the wind that was causing the leaves all around me to rustle and fly everywhere.

The wind was so focused on me that I couldn't help but think that my poor effort to do magic was actually working.

I continued knowing fully well that it was getting me nowhere, my legs lapped on each other, my hair was filled with little leaves.

  "Empty your m..."

I just got bored all of a sudden and I got up and walked back towards house.

Its funny that I call it home, it's never felt like that to me.

Ever since my childhood I still feel the same way about it, like I should be somewhere else doing something else other than running a shop that I'm pretty sure would make more profit if it was closed.

Our house had a little garden by the side cause Haz loved flowers.

"Hey, do you need me for anything?", I asked as I walked in through the back door.

"I need you to come with me to the shop to take inventory and make a list for restocking", Haz replied.

"Nooo!!, Come on I was busy you know?".

"Of course you were" He replied sarcastically.

  "Let's go".

'It's my fault for looking for something exciting to do', I whispered to myself as I walked out the front door.

Haz is my guardian, he saved me from the streets of Vasi City when I was a baby abandoned and left for dead.

I hated my real parents alot after he told me how and where he found me, but he told me to keep an open mind that there could have been a good reason why the left me.

But at this point I didn't really care about my real parents anymore, I just need a little bit of excitement in my boring life.

From the exterior of the flower shop you could already see that even if we had good stuff we still won't get customers.

Haz opened the door to the shop and we walked in.

"Ok so check storage while I scan through here", he said flinging the keys onto the counter.

"Ok, but we should still have everything in there" I replied.

I walked into the storage room which was the only other room in the shop apart from the main area.

I looked around, and like I'd expected everything was still there, so I walked back out to the shop.

"You wanna tell me what's going on, cause we haven't checked storage for days, hell we haven't opened the shop for weeks", I ask bordering between annoyance and concern.

"Are you bored?, I know you haven't made a trip for sometime but the house ain't all that bad", I said trying to sound funny.

"Ha-ha very funny, but it's not about the house or traveling, I just can't seem to get this business running again like before. And I've been thinking about your school and how it's almost end of session, I don't have enough money to pay for your college. Unless I get a wealth I didn't know existed or you somehow magically get a scholarship", he replied.

"Wait all of this was because you were worried about my school?".

"Yeah you know it's been almost a year since you turned sixteen and you still haven't manifested a book, which automatically makes you a regular everyday human", he replied.

"Give it time and it will come, I'll then be able to take the magic test and maybe apply for a scholarship", I said trying not to sound hurt from his lack of faith.

"But just in case it doesn't happen....".

"IT WILL!!", I yelled interupting him mid speech.

"I'm going for a walk", I said and started toward the door.

  "Walk to where?", He asked.

  I walked out without replying.

I walked down the streets fumbling with the words in my mouth.

I had my head down walking as fast as my legs can go then I noticed that the ground had turned green.

I raised my head and smiled, I was at the field close to the Vasi City bridge.

I didn't know my legs would bring me here. This is where I'd always come to get away from the crazy and boring, to look at the sea and be happy.

I sat there for so long I lost track of time. I finally checked the time and saw that it was way too late for me to be walking home, so I started jogging to make it faster.

The side of the city we lived in was no place to be walking around casually from evening to the next morning because of the soulless.

Our house was kinda remote but we still had to go through the city to get to it.

Jogging and not speeding up so as not to draw attention to myself.

I took a left into an alley way that was supposed to lead me back to the shop.

Almost at the end of the alley, a man popped out blocking my way.

I searched for a place to hide, but nothing in sight.

The bright light that shot straight at my face totally caught me off guard.

"Who's there", the man asked trying not to yell.

"Please I don't want any..., Wait Gentrove?!, It's me Casto", I replied happy to hear the voice of my best friend.

I came out of the alley so he could see me better.

"Casto! Dude! You scared the shit outta me, what were you doing in soulless turf by this time?", He asked.

"I lost track of time", I replied.

"You've got to stop doing that, Let's go Haz told me to come get you"
