By the time I got back, I noticed Diorno leaving just in time.
“Where are you going?” I asked.
“Nowhere. Just going to teae people a lesson.” With that answer he gave, Diorno the without saying any more.
“Okay….” I weirdly replied while watg his back as he matched on the road that leads to the main city of the Kingdom.
Realization quickly dawned upo instead of stopping the man, I simply smirked and shook my head before entering the house.
Inside, I was met with the entire family full of smiles on their faces as Johann and his father sat on the dining table while a female cooks what I assume to be a simple soup from the kit.
Their faces lit up upon seeier the house.
“Mister Chamber!” Johann stood from the chair and ran towards me, intending to hug.
Of course, as a polite and kind devil, I didn’t resist and spread my arms to wele him.
We both shared a hug and he separated first before saying.
“Thank you! Fing back my mother!” As if ohe said mother dropped her kit utensils and washed off her hands before approag me.
“Thank you fiving me another ce to be with my family, sir Chamber!” The father did the same thing and bowed his head.
For the first time, I felt immense pride in my chest, I did something good, very good. I ged the fate of a family.
“It’s…okay. It’s part of my duty.” I smiled warmly and said, accepting their gratitude with an ope.
“Please, eat my specialty. It’s the least I do for what you did.” The mother offered, pg down the bowl full of soup oable.
Although the soup looks and smells average, the fact that it is made with love makes it tastier than normal.
“Thank you for the meal.” I cupped my hands together and thanked her after we all say on our own respective chairs.
The meal was very pleasant, we chatted while we ate, it made me learn that everyone here is a living being, not just some side characters in my life.
They’re alive, breathing and have their own share of stories to tell, not some people who you’d assume as a nobody.
They used to be kids, cared by their parents and living their lives.
It’s like when you met a random cashier in a venieore and your mind just began to wander into the cashier’s backstory.
Like me, the cashier also has her own problems, her own dreams, goals, achievements, mistakes and many more.
It’s such a fasating thought, that they also lived their own story like you did.
I don’t know what this thing is called but I remember these kinds of thoughts have a name.
At this point, I felt myself tearing up, it’s like disc that your linear life story has depth and that depth is the same linear life story of the people around you.
Thankfully, I’m good at masking my feelings, so the meal tinued normally without having to deal with my weird rea.
The soup, oher hand, doesn’t taste that bad but not good either. It’s simple, like nature. Yet you feel the love of its creator, like how God created the world, with love.
During our chat, I discovered that Johann’s father used to be a knight of the Great Britain, a great o that. However, a stab on the back which is a huge shame for a knight, especially si came from a traitor, rendered him uo exert his strength fully.
He still do normal things but o longer wield a sword like a proper knight.
So he was discharged with an average pay, which wasn't enough for him and his family. Hehe reason why they’re now living in the slums.
‘Now I’m tempted to overtake the entire Great Britain and rule it myself. But that would ge the entire course of history and who knows, my intervention might attrawanted sequences.’ Fortunately, I have great self-trol, so the desire to rule disappeared.
This is part of history, the Great Britain’s traditions and culture’s downfall and the entry of the modern era, govers and such.
Minutes passed and Johann’s mother insisted ing the table after we finished.
I offered to help of course but she vehemently refused, saying that they owe me te already, that I should not add another pile on it.
I felt like ughing about it but held myself bad agreed.
Owe? Only sorcerers owe a Sorcerer Supreme, normal humans doesn’t. Because if they do, the entire humanity oh owes all of their lives to the A One and her predecessors.
Now that everything’s settled, I invited Johann to sit on the couch while I expio him.
“Johann, you retell everything that happened back there at the church with exact detail?” Hearing my request, Johann nodded hesitantly but before he expined, he said.
“But I could barely remember anything that time.”
“It’s okay. Tell me everything.” Obviously this is just a trick, a way to know more about Johann’s situation is simply to distract him while I read his memories.
“It’s like this…”
***
“I see.” I muttered to myself, nodding my head at Johann after he’s doh his vague expnation.
Thankfully, his memories, despite fetting what happened due to trauma and immeional distress, was able to retaihing that happehrough Johann’s perspective.
“Johann. Do you trust me?” I asked first before dropping the o him.
His parents were also seated on both his sides, worry etched on their faces as they awaited for my news.
“Yes, with my everything.” Without hesitation, Johann replied with a determione.
“Good. You were given a gift. From God.” I slowly started.
“A gift?” The three were fused.
“Yes, God’s gift to humanity. Power that would allow you to sy even the gods themselves. What you did back there in the church was caused by the awakening of your Sacred Gear. I believe it is very explosive and dangerous.” The more I expihe more emotions swirled on their faces, among them was horror.
“But don’t worry. This is the reason why I’m here. As you know, I’m not a normal human, I’m a devil.”
“A devil?!” They quickly stood up in surprise, all except for Johann.
“I uand your s but not all devils are evil, the only reason we’re branded as one is because most of us are evil. But enough about me.” Calming them down, I tinued.
“I’m here to take you in. Take you as my student, help you trol that power inside you, trol your fate and grow your strength.”
“The world is not normal, Johann. Humans aren’t alone. Every being you think of, exists somewhere in this world. That’s why you o be strong, not just for yourself but also for humanity.”
“I may be a devil, but my entire priority is to ensure humanity’s safety against the dangers of this world.” I see the excitement growing in Johann’s eyes as he gulped his saliva.
“But, he’ll leave us. he even survive out there?” His mother expressed her , no mother wao part ways with her child, except for a few of course.
“Don’t worry, ma'am. This is not a problem.” With a demonstration, I waved my hand and jured a portal, much to the amazed stares of the family.
“This is called a portal and it is very easy to learn, it’s simir to opening a door to anywhere you want. As long as you know this, you create something like this no matter where you are and however you want.” Seeing their shocked faces, I grinned, earning an air of fidence around me.
“I …go anywhere I want to?” ould you look at that, he seems to be amazed by the fact that he ow go anywhere he wants, not because he go bae whenever he wants.
Don’t worry, Johann. You’re not alone, I had the exact same rea as you do when learning the portal spell.
Actually, everyone does.
“That’s right. The only thing you’ll need is imagination.” I replied with a nod of my head.
***
Despite presenting the usefulness of the portal, it took me a while to fully vince his parents, with assurahat Johann will always e ba one piece.
Though the st part is a lie but I’ll try my best.
Hopefully.
After sending Johann to pack his belongings, I portalled myself bay temporary hideout to chey other student.
This kid isn’t just some random kid, but a talented one. Perhaps more talehan Tam, but that’s only my assumption. I haven't trained him yet after all.
I’ll know when he does.
In the meantime, I’ll bring these ‘fruits’ of my bor bad train them with my utmost best.
“Augustus! e down, we’ll leave!” After my shout, I heard a hurried footsteps ing from the sed floor before a bck-haired child desded from the stairs.
“I’m ing, master!” Augustus responded. After giving him some time to bath and gave him new clothes, the kid no longer looks like a bum but a certified citizen of a kingdom and a student of the Sorcerer Supreme.
Of course, his clothes are just a bunch of simple shirt and pants, along with a brown robe.
“Looking good.” I smirked, making Augustus beam up in happiness.
I guess it’s his first time being plimented for his appearance.
“Let’s go. It’s time to leave.” Since he came from being a bum, the kid doesn’t have anything to pack, so I reopened a portal back to Johann’s pce just in time as the tter is finished pag his items.
It’s mostly just some clothes and stuff.
“Ready?” I asked and he nodded.
Bidding farewell to his parents, I opened a portal back to the vilge, Grandpa Rad’s farmhouse.
“You two stay here a my other two students, I’ll be back.” With that being said, I stepped back to the portal aurned.
My goal is Diorno, that guy must be causing havoewhere around here.
True to my words, my enhanced hearing heard a yell from a distance.
Is that a scream for help I’m hearing? Up, up and awa-! Ehem!
Without further ado, I disappeared from my pce, testament to my incredible speed that makes me a blur to the naked eye.
***
“Help! Hel-Ugh!”
Bam!”
“W-Why are you doing this to me?” In a dark alley, a man with a bloodied face tries to crawl away from a rge man behind him with protruding muscles.
It was Diorno!
Sweat covered his heavy muscles as Diorno breathed heavily, he too was bloody but not as worse as the man crawling in front of him.
“Why am I doing this? I’m just doing god’s work.” Diorno replied, g his fist as he was about t down another devastating punch to the poor man’s face.
However before he could do so, he felt the muscles on his arm tract, as if something of an unknown force ulling him back.
“Who?!” Direw cautious, looking around him.
“You’re sinning, Diorno, you know that, right?” He heard a familiar voice.
“Chamber?”
