Ch. 54 – Roaming the Human world! [3]

Arriving at my temporary residence which is just an abandoned building whose owner died from the Bck Death pgue.

Sihe Great Britain Kingdom is quite too busy with so many matters, they overlooked simple things like this.

“This is your home?” I hear Diorno ask behind me.

“Temporary.” I replied as I jured a simple liquid of herbal tea from mid-air and pulled it into a simple metallic cup.

Diorno watched in amazement as I hahe metallic cup towards him.

“So. What’s your deal being here? Surely you’re not just here to take in students, right?” Diorno asked after thanking me for the cup of tea.

“You’re right. I’ve heard of the Kingdom’s situation and I believe this is the best opportunity for me to establish my name.”

“Establish your name?” He asked again fusedly.

“It’s nothing. Just a simple thing.” Instead of giving him the answer, I just shrugged my shoulders as a reply.

Diorno, sensing my iion, nodded his head and didn’t ask any further.

Instead, he took the initiative to ge the subject.

“What do you need me for? You know it’s unheard of a devil and an exorcist staying in the same room without causing any bloodshed, right?”

“Haha! You’re right.” Instead of telling it to him, I gestured for him to follow me.

I ought to show him the answer.

We arrived at the sed floor of the abandoablishment or also known as my temporary residence.

“Look over there.” Standing in front of the window where we see almost the entire district we’re in, I poi a certain area.

Diorno shifted his attention and followed where I’m pointing at before seeing it simir to the slums.

Diasped in surprise when he saw malnourished figures, some ying on the ground, not knowing whether they’re dead or not while the rest were wandering around in dazed expressions.

The most distinct among their appearance is their pale skin, siess evident to their faces.

Their sluggish movements tributing to this assumption.

Some were puking on the ers while others were growing weird swollen lymph nodes on their necks.

“What is this?” As Diono probably just arrived at the Kingdom, he hasn’t seen the Kingdom’s popution’s current situation.

“Athough it’s been decades sihe Bck Death pgue happened, as you see, its effects still be seen even until today.” I expined, watg the growing frustration on Diorno’s face.

“Unfortunately, I’m a devil and our kind doesn’t specialize in healing and regeion, I know someone who , but I don’t want to ask for her help for something as trivial as this. I know a healing spell but, I don’t think it’s as effective as the healing power of the Holy Po-”

“So you wao heal them?” Diorno interrupted, already uanding my iion.

“Yes. That holy power inside you, let me guess, was blessed by either God or an angel, so I’m sure you’re capable of healing.”

“You’re right. It was Lord Michael who blessed my Holy Power and said that I’m almost as capable as an angel from Heave es to Holy Power.” As he finishes his words, I sehe growing pride in his tone.

“I see. So you do it?”

“What’s the catch.” Unfortunately for me, he caught on quickly.

“Hah. ’t I just say I care for humans?”

“You might as well as say that you also pray to God in church.” Diorno snorted. Refusing to believe my words.

“Fine. Fine. I’m pnning on taking more than just oudent.” I sighed and raised my hands i.

  “Take them forcefully?”

“What kind of devil do you think I am? I don’t do that kind of thing and mind you, I still allow my student to pray to whoever religion they believe in. I’m just them guidance so they could bee indepe in this God-forsaken world.”

“God has not forsaken this world.” Diored.

“I’m not saying he’s merciless. What I meant is that God ot protect every human in the world, I know most of the fas uses humans as mere eai for their b lives.” As I spoke, there was a hint of mockery in my toowards the ods such as Greek yptian, especially the Aztec Gods who likes human sacrifices from what I heard.

“This…” Unfortunately for Diorno, he ’t find any words to refute me anymore, so he stayed silent instead.

“So, you do it or not? If you ’t, I might have to resort to asking the fallen angels instead.” Of course he’s just joking, he hasn’t eve an Angel, much less, a fallen one.

“Fine. I agree. But just so you know, I’m not doing this because you ask me too, I also want to heal those in need.”

“Heh. Tsundere.” I chuckled, muttering an unfamiliar word to the chief exorcist.

  “What’s a tsundere?” Diorno asked.

“It’s nothing you should care about. Anyways, let’s go now. The more time we waste, the more humans falls to this disease.”

“D-Don’t worry mom, dad. I’ll ask the church for help again! They’ll definitely agree to heal you two this time!” Cheering my two parents whose ditiohem bedriddeermination flowed through my chest.

It’s been a year since my parents fell sick from a disease that people call the Bck Death, at least from what I heard from the neighbors.

Last month, I tried asking the church for help but instead of helping, they closed the doors in front of my face.

Why? Why are they avoiding us like some kind of pgue?

Has God abandoned us? Was our prayers not enough for him to bless our health and remove our siess?

Why must we suffer while the church isotes us and brings us away from the main city.

Why must we receive s just because of the Bck Death disease?

The church heal us, right? They said it themselves, by giving ourselves to the almighty God, we won’t have to worry about anything because God will take care of our body and soul.

If that’s the case, why did my parents became sick?

  I was so fused.

But now I’m fident that this time, with the money I earned from carrying heavy crates on the port, they’ll agree to heal my parents and bring them back to health.

Then after that, mom will cook us her delicious cook and dad will tell me his jokes.

“Tuah! Why are you so hellbent on asking for those ds’ help? They’ve abandoned us! There is no such thing as God! They only created him so they could trol us! Cough! Cough!” Dad quickly refuted my cim, snarling in anger as he coughed in the end, uo hahe volume of his voice.

“But dad, I heard that the church used God’s power to heal the Duke’s son! And he healed, they say!” I was quick to deny his words, stating the soury belief for the church’s capability to heal my parents.

“So what if the Duke’s son was healed by them?! The only reason they did it is because the Duke have tons of gold and we don’t! The church doesn’t care for the poor! They only cater to those in power! Cough!”

I stayed still, enduring the anger of my father as his health tio dee.

“I’m going to leave for a while. Once I’m back, I’ll bring the priest and heal you two!” Instead of answering him, I simply said a.

I still hear dad yelling for me while mom stays silent, I wonder why it takes her so long to sleep?

On my way to the church, I still receive those eyes from the others, full of disgust and s.

But I ighem. For me, my only goal is the churd ask fod to answer my prayers to heal my parents.

tally as I arrived in front of the church, the church’s priest was about to leave.

“Father Simon! Father Simon!” I quickly called out to him, catg his attention.

“It’s you again?” I see the surprise in Father Simon’s eyes as he slowly backs away.

Ign this, I extended my hand, the pouch of Pennies.

“I have money, Father Simon! Please heal my dad and mom!” I begged.

“Kid…I have too many things to do. Please go away, you’re sg the believers of God.” Despite seeing the poud growing disappointed after seeing what’s inside, Father Simon pushes me away.

However I was adamant on making the priest heal my parents.

So I kneeled and grovelled on the ground.

“Please, Father Simon! Heal my parents! We are also faithful followers of your church! We alray every day! I heard that your church healed the Duke’s son! Please help us!”

Unfortunately for my, my aade Father Simon mad.

“Stand up, you i brat! Look! If your parents are sick! There’s nothing we do about it. If they’re dying, then it is the God’s will!” With that, Father Simon once again bashed the door close in front of my face.

  It is the God’s will?

Did God wanted mom and dad to die? Is that what the priest is implying?

But…my parents. They. They don’t deserve to die.

  They’re kind people!

God wouldn’t abandon those who seek his help! The church said he’s merciful!

  THEY SAID HE’S FIVING!

Anger clouded my vision as I grew blind to my surroundings, a fsh of light covered my sight.

Before I k, I already hear the screams of the people.

After arriving at the slums, me and Diorno quickly gathered in front of a sian carrying her baby.

“S-Spare me some bread please. My baby, he’s hungry.” Despite being pale and suffering from the Bck Death pgue, the woman still cared for her child, a mother indeed.

Beatio it, Diorno crouched in front of the woman and instead of givihe bread she begged for, Diorno touched her forehead.

“S-Sir! I’m dirty! Please, I might sully yraceful hand!” Due to Diorno’s white cardinal outfit, the woman thought that Diorno belongs to the upper society of the Kingdom.

Much to the woman’s shock, a white light fshes in front of her and before she k, her pale face regains color and the pain oomad chest slowly fades away.

The most notable thing that happened is the disappearance of the swollen lymph nodes on her neck up to under her ear.

“G-God has not abandoned us!” The woman stutters, uo believe what she just experienced.

The other people of the slums who heard her started gathering around.

  “Father! Please heal me too!”

“Kind Sir! Please help my wife! She’s sick too!”

  “Sir! Please sir!”

Before we k, we were surrounded and Diorno became their messiah, toug foreheads left and right and healing their siess one by one.

I was treated ooo of course.

Although devils doesn’t specialize in healing, with Imagination Magic, almost everything is possible, so I know a simple healing spell I created myself with the help of Sitri magic’s healing spells as reference.

As we were in the middle of the process of healing the people, a loud explosion happened in the distance.

  BOOM!

Looking at the smoke rising in the sky, both me and Diorno exged gnces.

“That’s the city! What’s going on there?!” One of the people we just healed, poi the sky and said.

Before I k, me and Diorno bolted out of the crowd and headed towards the source of the explosion.

Did Fraarted Britain? I’m quite poor in history lessons, so I’m not sure if France mao attack Britain this deep into their territory.

Hopefully not, I don’t like to meddle in human-made wars. I protect humans from the Supernatural, not from fellow humans.

  I’m a protector, not a hero.

Maybe someday, if some sorcerers are free, I’ll assign a few to act as heroes to deter evil.
