Juliet POV
“Is that it?”
I can see a small town in the distance.
“Yeah. Don’t talk to anyone I don’t talk to.”
“Huh? Why?”
“I’ll tell you ter. Its easier to expin once you see it for yourself.”
“Kay!”
As we walked near, I can feel Lucina’s mood turn sour. Oh, she never did tell me about her hometown but is this what someone should feel when going home?
“Nothing has changed.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. This pce has always been the same ever since that day. This pce has never been able to move on. Just like me.”
Lucina continues to walk and we see someone walking. They look at us and drop the bag they were holding.
“Why are you here?”
With shock, they take the bag and look around.
“Get out! Get out of here! You cursed child!”
They shouted as they walked away, eventually running to somewhere else. I look towards Lucina.
“Cursed child?”
“Ha. It’s a long story. I’ll tell you ter. We have to go to someone first since that can just spiral out of control.”
Lucina is being weird. Ever since we saw this pce, she has been more subdued. Her attitude is bad and she feels very sad. Is it because she’s a cursed child?
“Hey, old man.”
We arrive to a shop. Looks like a bcksmith.
“An old man running a shop! Do you have a secret menu! Are you a seedy shop!?”
“Woah. Who is this ss?”
“My friend. She has a thing for what she calls seedy shops. I don’t really get it.”
“You just don’t get it. Getting to know the secret menu of all shops is exciting! You never know what to expect!”
“Yeah. Yeah. Just lower your voice, you dumbass.”
I noticed that the old man has tears on his eyes. Why?
“I see. So, you made a friend.”
“Is that something you really need to cry about, old man? You’re old. Why the hell are you crying?”
“I see that tongue of yours hasn’t changed. I remember when you were a cute and kind little kid.”
“Shut up, old man. That was past me. I ain’t like that anymore.”
Ah. I see. This old man is probably someone who took care of Lucina. Great!
“Hahaha! I am sorry to disappoint, little dy. I’m not rich enough to have a seedy shop.”
“Aw. Do you have weapons though?”
“Yeah. They’re at the back. Feel free to take a look.”
“Woo hoo!”
I run inside and its not big but there is a lot here. Time to dig!
“Old man. What are you doing?”
In a few seconds, Lucina and the old man also came inside. Well, I’ll let them talk while I look at all of these things.
“Just closing up shop.”
“What about business?”
“I barely get any business as is. This pce is off the map now. Nobody comes through here. Well, I do get some folks asking me to repair some stuff sometimes.”
“Sorry.”
“What are you saying sorry for? This ain’t your fault. You’re just a kid.”
I run towards them.
“Hey, old man. What are these things?”
“Those are called shurikens. I saw someone using it once so I wanted to try making it. Been proud of them myself.”
“Woah. How do you use them though?”
“You throw it like this.”
It spins and sticks to the wall.
“Cool!”
“Right? You can have all of it.”
“Really!?”
“Yeah. Wasn’t really pnning on selling it. Just made it cause it looked fun. Just try to get it back though if you can or you’ll run out.”
“Okay!”
“We’re going to go, old man.”
“You’re going there?”
“Yeah. I don’t have any reason to be here.”
“Well, you got nothing to worry about. As long as I’m alive, I’ll take care of it.”
“Thanks. Juliet, stop pying with those. Let’s go already.”
“Kay!”
I run towards Lucina. We walk through some woods before arriving to a house.
“Before you ask, this house has always been this way. My dad made it here because he wanted some privacy but not far enough from the town.”
“Like a secret base?”
“Yeah. Something like that.”
Lucina goes inside and I follow her. It was pretty nice. Made mostly of wood.
“Your dad made this?”
“Yeah. He was a carpenter. My mom was a tailor. They were adventurers before they retired.”
“Really? Cool!”
“I know. My first sword was from my dad. The old man was the one who made it.”
“The one that almost broke?”
“Ugh. Don’t remind me. I wasn’t taking care of it properly.”
“I heard the old man say he was taking care of it. Did he mean this pce?”
“Yeah. I wanted to burn it down after everything happened. The old man stopped me. Gd he did or I would have regretted everything.”
I took a look around. Her house had one floor and a few rooms.
“So, did that old man take care of you?”
“He knew me since I was a kid. Before I went to the school, I came back here. I wanted to destroy everything that I had. I wanted to have nothing to hold me back. You already heard it, right? They call me the cursed child. That old man knocked some sense in me before I could go too far.”
“Woah. Gd he did though. We wouldn’t have become friends if that happened.”
“I know. Just be careful around here. Word spreads fast. They already know you’re here with me. I don’t know what they would do.”
“Kay!”
“Don’t expect any hospitality. There’s nothing in here that you could eat. Feel free to do whatever, just let me be for a bit.”
Lucina went inside one of the rooms. Her parents room. How do I know? Because I am in her room now. Well, I was getting a bit tired so I decided to take a nap.
“Good night!”
Then, I wake up to the sound of an explosion.
“Woah! What!? Where!? When!? Why!? Who!?”
I just out of the bed and go to the door and see smoke coming from her parents’ room. I cover my hands in water and open the room. It was very hot.
“Lucina!”
I see her inside covered in fire in her own fire as she burns everything.
