Chapter 98: Ultra top-secret strategy meeting

After multiple (not exactly) false accusations, the cute half-elf girl was sentenced to the most horrible punishment!

Having to attend a business meeting!

I have never worked a day in my life, but if my accidental visits to random budget meetings and fashion shows are any indication, it is a matter of life and death. Figuratively, AND literally.

Yes, our meetings are that dangerous.

The moment I walk into the room, all eyes turn to me without fail. Girls, we meet pretty much every day. No need to be that surprised~

_ Nerin: …Leader, why is guildmaster here? Did she crash the market again?

  I'm the dangerous one here?!

…Hold on, is that why I don't need to attend business meetings? When you think about it, shouldn't the guildmaster be the number one person who must not be absent? They can't possibly think that I am a deadbeat unfamiliar with how the cafeteria operates anyway and not worth the risk of having me causing even more trouble by leaking or abusing vital market information best left unsaid right? Right?!

_ Hessy: Nerin, is free to join meetings as she likes. She just decides not to most of the time.

See~? They are being considerate since I am usually busy with grinding and stuff. On the other hand, I fully trust my capable crew to manage the shops even in my absence! It's mutual trust! Mutual trust!

_ Hessy: And no, she did not crash the market, this time.

  Hey!

_ Hessy: It's a lot worse than that.

  HEY!!!

  ____________

Inside the biggest meeting room of the guildhall built like a cathedral, many guildmasters are gathering once more. One of them is actually standing and making a speech, though she is a bit short and doesn't look much different from the rest as a result…

_ Vladina: Welcome, fellow guildmasters, to our Annual Anti-Sprout Strategic Meeting!

_ Olkan: This is the second annual meeting this week alone by the way.

_ Vladina: The atmosphere is important! And the last one was cancelled halfway because you guys ran off!

_ Olkan: W-well, we were at the last quest and couldn't afford to lose the Terra Cetus!

_ Vladina: And you wouldn't have failed it if you had waited for me to finish!

The two are already bickering as per usual. Not that anyone here would be surprised in the first place.

_ Cinrald: Let's hear it then, . We don't want a repeat of it now, do we?

More often than not would be the one putting an end to it, but the person in question has been face-down on the table ever since entering the room so

's guildmaster had to pick up the slack.

_ Vladina: *Coughs* Ehem, you are right. Now, you might have heard rumors about Terra Cetus giving a hidden or bonus quest. Let me confirm it for you: Yes, those quests exist. Every Terra Cetus will give you one at the end of the quest chain. What caught people off guard was the failure conditions attached to them. That's why you shou…

The catboy raises his hand, interrupting the sage's speech.

_ Elix: You say those quests can fail, but still acquired their Terra Cetus, didn't they?

_ Vladina: Good question! You still get the main reward that is control over the Terra Cetus and the ability to use [Construction] on their back even if you fail that quest. Once you take into consideration the difficulty and reward of the quests being handed out, I am sure completing them is the exception, not the norm.

_ Olkan: You don't say. There's no way Sateri-chan expected anyone to survive the escort quest handed to us.

_ Vladina: That's what I was trying to warn you guys last time. And if you are wondering whether it's worth the effort, I'll let you decide for yourself. , bring it out please.

  ____________

_ Su: If our sources are to be believed, controlling the area around the [Summon Gem] is how a rival guild can take over the Terra Cetus, provided that they have completed the quest chain as well. By completing their impossible tasks however, we acquired the gems as items instead of unmovable fixtures on the Terra Cetus. What does it imply, in your opinion?

_ Shadyna: Uhm… It means our Terra Cetus can't be taken over?

_ Su: Ding ding! As expected of my wife! Unless you destroy or give away the gems on purpose, there is no way a hostile force can steal them. This is most likely why the bonus quests are nigh impossible to complete.

We are talking about the [Summon Gem] which are rewards from the Terra Cetus quests. Amusingly, we didn't know that they were supposed to be territories which are constantly fought over until our patrons told us. No wonder why we are still getting attacked despite having completed both quest chains…

_ Shadyna: In that case, can't we tell everyone about it? They will stop once they know they can't take the item from us right?

_ Hessy: It's not that simple, unfortunately.

Hessy places a world map on the wall. It is filled with markers and notes about most if not all Terra Cetus in CSF at the moment. Crazy intelligence gathering as always, these girls…

_ Hessy: As of yesterday, only about half of the known Terra Cetus were accounted for, and we are expecting at least a few more that couldn't be seen from the ground, like the one tamed. Until most of them are taken, it is in our best interest to keep them in the dark and let them fail the quests.

Ah, it's like that, isn't it? A massive mobile platform with overwhelming firepower is invaluable to any guild. Even with all of my OP equipment, we will undoubtedly struggle against one if

's fight outside of Tyrel is any indication. Therefore, the risk of losing their Terra Cetus is our strongest defense, and that can only be achieved if our opponents do not possess their own [Summon Gem].

_ Hessy: And that's why we should pretend not to have a [Summon Gem] by keeping a fake gem on display and guarding it 24/7. It's not a problem since we have been doing just that, but there's the extra Terra Cetus…

…That explains the collective facepalms from my managers when Hessy delivered the news. The day team was barely hanging on guarding a single one. There's no way they are guarding two without compromising the defense or daily cafeteria duties.

_ Elri: Maybe we can leave it where it is. It has not been seen this whole time, has it?

I know right~? It is pretty well hidden if you ask me. It's not like anyone can go that far up without my gazebo acting as [Recall] beacon.

_ Hessy: *Shakes head* It will only buy us time. Now that other guilds have access to a flying island they can fortify against the flying horde, they can traverse as high as they want to. It won't be long before someone gets into render distance to see the big floating mass above them.

_ Elri: True that… will have to do it then.

_ Shadyna: Eh? Me? I can't defend it all day you know?

_ Elri: Of course not. I'm talking about that NPC of yours. Isn't she strong enough to fend off most players?

_ Shadyna: Oooh~ Right, Ophilie stays summoned as long as I use a bed before logging out.

That being said, Gelly can't fight pacifist-style without my direct control. Same goes for Lutena's combat form. Ophilie fighting alone is a bit worrisome though, especially in a defense mission. Maybe I'll ask the girls to check up on her every once in a while just in case?

_ Mera: And don't forget your greatest strength~

  _ Shadyna: My… greatest strength?

Mera is smiling brightly. There is no way this will end well, but I'm also a bit curious to know what she has to say.

_ Mera: Your flat walls~ It would be a waste if you don't use the land the Terra Cetus rewarded us, don't you think? Shouldn't this to~tally precious gem be stored inside an enclosed fortification worthy of its value? Make our enemies choose between a self-healing, nigh-indestructible container and a madwoman cutting down their comrades in droves. Let despair slowly consume them as they relive the experience of…

I can only think of one madwoman at the moment and it's definitely not Ophilie. And who da heck are you calling flat you beautiful maniac~!!!

_ Hessy: Sure, let's do that.

  _ Elri: ?!

For some reason, Hessy is considering it seriously?!

_ Hessy: Mera's lunacy aside, the suggestion is sound. Walls hide the fake gem from view and buy us time. Whether they choose to focus on the defenders or the walls, it does not matter because our response team will mop them up.

Oof~ That's the cruelest part isn't it? Two bad choices to brood over, only to get crushed in the end regardless. Mera's insanity-inducing ramblings are a given, but Hessy's cold hard calculations are just as terrifying.

Maybe I should visit them when they work the counter more often~

_ Hessy: Well, we won't be able to reinforce if they attack both Terra Cetus, so the garrison has to be able to hold on their own at least. I've heard… rumors about Ophilie from our patrons, but do you think she can fight against a few hundred players at the same time, ?

I don't know what kind of rumors she heard that warranted the pause, and at this point I'm too afraid to ask. Still, don't slander my cute NPC wife, you virtual drunkards!

_ Shadyna: Un. Gelly will have to stay back to avoid dealing damage, but Lutena will receive the [Devotion] and support in the front in her stead. Sateri and Aenilie can [Ethereal Form] on Gelly to boost Lutena's stats and buffs further… Un, I think she will be fine.

_ Elri: Hold up, . What did you just say?

_ Shadyna: I think Ophilie will be fine guarding Miwy alone?

So fine in fact, she will be stronger than when Gelly led the party. I doubt anything short of a bonus boss can faze her in a direct confrontation.

_ Elri: Not that! Who's Sateri? There's no way it's related to THE Sateri-chan right?

_ Hessy: …*Sighs* And here's the second bad news.

Guess I won't be allowed to put down these water buckets anytime soon. Sad cry~

  ____________

_ Vladina: And that concludes my findings on the [Summon Gem]. Next will be … Uh… You good?

_ Torenis: Don't ask that while poking me with your sword. I'm wide awake.

Although it's not too weird to have a conversation with someone having a staring contest at touching distance with a table, it's notably rarer in-game. It's not that easy to feel tired in a dream augmented by VR technology after all.

_ Vladina: *Shrugs* Just making sure you are alive. Your report?

_ Torenis: Yeah, it's about the [Summon Gem] too. If you defeat a Terra Cetus, it turns into one. You can use [Resurrection] to bring it back, but still need to do the quest chain…

_ Vladina: Ah, right. You guys did kill that bird…

_ Torenis: Took us four days to kill it for virtually nothing. We had to grind overtime to catch up with others after that.

That explains his current sorry state, silently thinks . While there's a chance destroying that [Summon Gem] will kill the Terra Cetus for good and reward

for their efforts, it's unlikely to be worth the headache that comes with it. It's a tempting thought though.

_ Vladina: Understood. So for the time being, it's not worth killing them over doing their quests.

This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.

_ Torenis: And the bastards won't care about chip damage if you receive their quests.

_ Vladina: …Oof. I know they ignore stray attacks to some degree, but haven't gotten the time to experiment. Still, big oof.

Or to put it another way, those four days of constant grueling fighting could have been avoided by spending a few seconds reading Sateri-chan's patch note. Then again, the fight wouldn't have happened at all if this maniac here had actually read it.

It wasn't physical fatigue but the double revelations that did in. Hopefully he will finally learn this time, but the little sage wouldn't count on it.

_ Vladina: The next one on the agenda is… . Everyone's interested in how we managed to lose the Magnus Bestia without dealing any damage. Weren't we monitoring it to avoid this exact scenario?

The brunette archer ponders a bit like a protagonist before an "As for how I got to this point" flashback before explaining. Somehow, she sounds just as puzzled as the rest of the meeting room.

_ Cinrald: Will you believe me if I tell you that a swimming pool was dropped from the sky onto its head?

  _ Everyone: …What?

  ____________

_ Hessy: You can stop hitting her head now.

What do you mean, "now"?! My delicate head is for affectionate patting, not domestic violence!

  _ Elri: …I don't think she's reflecting.

  I'mverysorryforeverythingIhavedonepleaseforgivemeI'llbegoodIpromise!!!

_ Elri: So, what are we going to do about the literal game creator living in the mini sun?

_ Hessy: Same as before, nothing. She's been hidden for much longer, and we have more important things to worry about at the moment.

_ Elri: You are not even bothered about balance at this point huh.

_ Shadyna: Uhm… Sateri and Aenilie seem to have high stats but they are always below mine. If there were balance issues, we would have seen it while they were indirectly supporting Gelly during the quest chain, wouldn't we?

_ Elri: Is that so…? It's normal the… Wait no! Your stats are anything but normal!!!

  *BONK*

  I'm sorry~!!!

  _ Mera: She's corrupted~

_ Melodyn & Choruse: One of us, one of us~ Join us, join the dark side~

_ Elri: You three shut up!!! What other important things are you talking about, ?

_ Hessy: The Avitus Caelicola and Magnus Bestia for one.

_ Elri: The bonus bosses? Didn't we deal with them handily?

If anything, I'd say we completely crushed them the moment we finished preparation for second forms. The preparations were the bottleneck after all~

For the leggy blob Avitus Caelicola in Thunder Huts, we figured the big metallic vines shooting out lightning were not to our advantage and proceeded to smash them with extreme prejudice. The boss then ran towards another "hut" so our tanks piled on it to keep it within the walls while we were smashing the remaining huts. The Raid Breaker Engine, which totally did not spawn the boss in the first place by the way, was a great help thanks to its range covering the entire zone. Once it had nowhere left to run to, we one-shotted it with [Alpha Strike Power] and [Alpha Strike Bonus].

  Twice, because second form. Duh~

The antlion Magnus Bestia in Honey Swamp was a bit more complicated. Because common sense (?) indicated that burrowing creatures don't do well underwater, so that's what we did. Couldn't exactly bring buckets of water to the site however, it being the free-for-all battleground between the boss and the many guilds there.

As a result, I proposed a different angle of approach in a literal sense. Using the same technique to build the artificial sun and floating island, I built a floating water bucket right above the boss itself to deliver the water.

And by that, I mean I built it as high as my space gazebo.

With roughly the same diameter as Tyrel's town square.

Took us two days of sitting at the beach above my secret base to fill it up with [Saltwater]. In addition, I had to do it myself since everyone's occupied with the Terra Cetus quest. It was a horrible experience… Uuu…

Once it was full, our local mermaid Cenny was the lucky winner to remove the floating core from the bucket (pool). Gravity did the rest to deliver the water to the intended target.

Yes, we did a medieval fantasy equivalent of dropping a fishbowl on a bonus boss. Sorry, not sorry~

It wasn't enough to defeat a bonus boss, of course. Unfortunately (for the boss), the bucket counts as a [Construction]. We [Recall]-ed to it moments before the collision, then proceeded to one-shot it.

  Twice~

_ Hessy: We did, by having Blue Blood Federation defend the Avitus Caelicola and infighting disrupt raid attempts against the Magnus Bestia. Had either of them been seriously threatened, "delayed" wouldn't even start to describe the situation we could have gotten into.

_ Elri: Riiiight, I have had enough PvP for a lifetime around the turtle. Having half the force because we need to defend other places would be a nightmare.

_ Hessy: Yes, we would have been overrun by sheer numbers. On a strategic level, we are only about as strong as a medium-sized alliance despite our superior status. We won't lose in direct combat, but we can only be at so many places and fight off so many players at once. That's why…

Putting away the Terra Cetus map, Hessy spreads out an empty parchment covering almost the entire table and announces with a serious expression which I rarely see.

_ Hessy: We need a contingency plan.

  ____________

In the beginning, there was one.

Now there are two of them sleeping (?) on the table, with the new one being the little guildmaster after receiving the news.

_ Vladina: …So you are saying that they can one-shot a bonus boss, and wasn't even needed in combat?

_ Cinrald: Yes. Is it that shocking?

_ Vladina: You of all people should know that players aren't supposed to deal that kind of damage! To think that the multi-weapon girls can rival 's damage… Dammit !

  _ Ignar: Why me?!

_ Olkan: There there, what's done is done. Now we know they can raid Magnus Bestia within minutes, what are our options?

To be fair, the great sage always knew that the Sprout girl could do it, back when the level cap was still 20. What she did not expect was 's cousin and her friend having that kind of damage as well.

_ Vladina: …Same as before. If we can get to a Magnus Bestia, we have to deal as much damage as possible before they can defeat it. , I need you to have siege weapons on standby at all times. If we get bogged down again, use them to attack the boss.

_ Xerrio: Leave it to me! Our glorious machines shall strike fear into…

_ Vladina: Sure sure, do your best.

_ Xerrio: At least let me finish my speech!!!

_ Olkan: So it's still going to be a bloodbath whenever one is found. Thank Sateri-chan they agreed to let us have the Nox… Speaking of, do you think you can take on this one, ?

News of the cloud of monsters at the edge of the world has spread among the alliance's members since day one of its discovery. They already struggled against the last Nox, so it's understandable to be extra worried about this one.

For the merchant guildmaster though, the worry is less about 's ability to fight the boss, and more about the market's ability to handle the amount loots and corpses her guild brings back in the process.

_ Cinrald: Well~ Fighting there is an interesting experience. Do you want a demo after this?

_ Olkan: Are you trying to get me killed you combat fetishist!?

  ____________

  _ Shadyna: Haaaaa~ I'm beat~ Meetings are so tough…

Having wrapped up the dreadful meeting, Hessy and I return to Miwy to prepare the defense. Even though I'll be doing most of it, she is tagging along just in case I need a helping hand.

Mera was supposed to come with us too, until something came up. Apparently, some upstart alliance thought that we moved out for some emergency (meeting) and it was the best time to seize our volcanic turtle Olari (permanent designation). Without hesitation, our totally kind and merciful healer of course departed to aid her dear friends.

…At the attackers' main town that is. The turtle is completely fine.

  Rest in pieces, opportunistic raiders~

_ Hessy: It's not that bad most of the time. We don't get to deal with a living floating island and the literal Creator Goddess herself every day.

…Her main objective is making sure I don't do something outrageous in secret, isn't it? How paranoid~

_ Shadyna: That reminds me, Sateri seemed to know you when you met. Did you two have a history in the past?

_ Hessy: That was the first time I saw her in-game. As for the reason… Sateri-chan, can I tell her?

Since there's no longer a reason to hide Sateri, I can have her and Aenilie stay summoned throughout the day. Of course anywhere public is a risk so they are still limited to our secret bases. A big improvement compared to before nevertheless.

[We cannot discuss that topic as Sateri the NPC. Do you mind if I break character for a bit?]

Hi there, Sateri's system messages! It's been a while hasn't it?

  _ Hessy: Eh…? Ah, sure. I don't mind.

Looks like she got the same message too. Immersion is important, so it's better to ask first, un.

_ Sateri: Then feel free to tell , ufufu. You have my permission. Lore-wise, I'll keep it vague and treat you as a benefactor during my journey. Is that alright with you?

_ Hessy: *Sighs* That sounds really heavy, but do as you like. Now, , it's not a big deal so drop those expectations from that head of yours.

But but… based on their interaction, it wouldn't be strange if Hessy is another ancient goddess on the same or even higher level than Sateri! That, or she has done deeds so great Sateri had no choice but to recognize her! Like eating bonus bosses for breakfast, terraforming the world, upsetting the entire power balance, etc…

_ Sateri: You have my sympathy for dealing with this dimwit on a daily basis.

_ Hessy: Likewise. Thanks for keeping the game in one piece after what this maniac usually pulls.

I'm being trash-talked instead for some reason?!

_ Hessy: Jokes aside, the gist of what happened was… I created Sateri-chan's current avatar.

  _ Shadyna: I see, you created Sateri's ava… eh?

  EEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!?!

I take a step back and compare the two. They are different people sure enough. However, it wouldn't be far-fetched to say they are distant cousins either. With the same outfit and some hairstyling, they can actually be mistaken for each other from afar.

_ Hessy: You see, when the closed beta started, Sateri-chan was a glowing orb speaking in a mechanical voice. I was curious and asked about her lore… which turned out to be non-existent.

_ Sateri: In my defense, the beta test's purpose was debugging and ironing out the gameplay loop. was the first to ask about my identity in the lore at that time.

Ah, the good old "Not implemented yet" reason. Glad to see it wasn't only me~

_ Sateri: While I had the general background settings mapped out to develop the game, such smaller details were not ready, and I told as such.

_ Hessy: The roleplayers are going to cry if they hear you calling your own avatar small detail…

  Ouch~

_ Hessy: Anyway, since she had no identity apart from being the guide to character creation at the time, I jokingly offered the avatar I was working on… She agreed.

  That easy?!

_ Shadyna: Sateri, are you actually the type that accepts candies from strangers? It's not safe you know?

_ Sateri: *Chuckles* It was a very good-looking avatar, and the majority of players agreed with me. The only thing I changed until this day was the beginner outfit.

_ Hessy: W-well, I'm glad you are happy with it. I would feel bad to receive a reward for something you can't even use.

  So humble~… Wait, reward?

_ Shadyna: Hessy, you have an SG-rank skill or title too?

_ Hessy: Not from that exchange, obviously! Even S-rank skills were not a thing back then. What Sateri-chan gave me was some information about game mechanics.

Oh~ This is what they call insider knowledge right? How much of it was the reason for Hessy becoming one of the strongest players before I came into the picture I wonder?

_ Hessy: The first tip was about the caps on level and skills, and the lack thereof on attributes. It is common knowledge now, but when everyone was still fighting rats on the grassland around Tyrel, it was invaluable. That's why my playstyle revolves around grinding attributes as much as possible.

While I know about her extreme attribute grinding, Hessy focusing on attributes since the early days is news to me. I suppose she also chose [Cooking] to be her main crafting skill for the same reason.

Then there's also her fighting style. Despite the [Dark Bolt] maniac allegations, she uses both physical and magical attacks, grinding both STR and FOC in the process. She also tanks at the front, which might sound a tad M until one realizes she gets experience for taking hits. Even out of combat, she apparently tries to grind as many attributes as possible, at the same time.

  Scary!

_ Hessy: The second one was the skill meta. Outside of superior rare skills, common skills are designed to fill different niches rather than being a temporary foothold to acquire better skills. Most are viable at higher levels, and thanks to their cheap cost, can create builds more efficient than powerful skills.

_ Shadyna: I see… So what is [Dark Bolt]'s niche?

I guess this meta knowledge is why Hessy sticks with the spell for so long. If this is the case, I can understand why Sateri didn't have to consider giving her more rewards down the line. The information pretty much helped push my manager to the top of the player base after all.

_ Hessy: General purpose. Cheap, quick, homing, long range, packs a punch. A good pick if you don't intend to use many other attack skills. [Dark] element was purely my preference though.

…So it's really because she likes the skill?!

The element choice aside, her reluctance to grind more skills is understandable. Time spent grinding new skills is time not spent grinding attributes. By using a general-purpose skill like [Dark Bolt], she can get it to cap level quickly, max out the enchantment for cheap, then focus on getting more attributes to boost its damage. Mediocre performance in any specific situation is compensated by superior attributes, just like min-maxing builds. Min skills and max attributes, that is.

_ Hessy: Are you thinking that I neglect skills in favor of attributes?

_ Shadyna: Un, is that not the case?

Ehm… why are you patting my head? I'm pretty sure my reasoning is sound, or at least on the level that she can understand by reading my expression. Feels nice, but so confused~

  _ Hessy: I don't neglect them.

_ Shadyna: Really? Then what do you do with them?

  _ Hessy: It's a secret~

  _ Shadyna: Eh~~~

That cute wink is illegal~! How am I supposed to pry if she says it like a beautiful girl (she is one) teasing about having a cute secret killing technique for self-defense?! It's going to be a death flag the moment I ask about it!

_ Hessy: Just kidding. It would be faster to show you instead. Draw your sword.

…It's really a secret killing technique!!!

  ## Nearseeing Sage

  =How to fly=

To begin your first flight, there are several options you can go for:

  - Skill

  - Equipment

  - Pet

  =Skill=

There is no one Flight skill to acquire, unfortunately. Instead, you have several skills to take off and maneuver midair.

  - Air Cushion: Doesn't take off, but keeps you afloat midair in a horizontal plane. Very stable. Now available in character creation.

  - Water Bubble: Cannot lift up vertically. Allows free movement in a spherical volume. Very slow because you are submerged in water.

  - Leap: Technically a jump, but can be used to gain initial altitude.

  - Spring Leaf: New skill. Creates a bouncy leaf that is a trampoline. Needs to jump on it but gives much more altitude.

  - Rising Heat: New skill. Slowly floats you up vertically. Very slow.

Yes, they don't really act like flying. You need better, rarer skills for that, which come with their own pros and cons. ;D

  =Equipment=

An extension of the skill approach. Enchant or Engineering flying skills to your equipment of choice.

  =Pet=

Find a big flying one that you can ride on, duh.

I'm kidding. Here are some notable flying creatures and where you can find them:

  ## Nearseeing Sage

  =Advantages of flight=

You can fly. Pretty neat if you ask me. =p

  =Disadvantages of flight=

  - Skills: As you may have noticed, there is no known skill that gives you free flight. They are either hard to control, limited, or come with a different mechanical tradeoff. Walking on the ground is still a good method of travel for its speed and simplicity.

  - Pet: If you are familiar with wagon speed debuff for pets, you will understand what I'm implying immediately. Yes, there is a speed debuff for riding flying pets. Yes, it stacks with wagon speed debuff, resulting in a mere one-fourth of the original speed if you make your pet do both in the air. Evasion in that state is a futile attempt.

  - Status effects: Stun, Sleep, and Root are instant-death effects against fliers. If you are hit by one of these, you'll fall straight to your doom. Stuns have short durations so you may recover in time, but Sleep and Root are almost guaranteed kills if you fly high enough. Good luck!

  ##

  …

  ## Nearseeing Sage

  =Melee vs air=

The biggest reason for this guide, and how three-fourths of this guide's budget was funded by melee players.

If you are melee, you most likely have felt some frustrations against enemies who easily stay out of your reach. Worry not, for Sateri-chan has got you covered!

As part of the flight patch, many more skills were added for melee playstyles. No longer limited to Throw, your options against a distant enemy have expanded greatly, though they can be simplified to these two approaches:

  - Chasing down enemies

  - Ranged attacks without dedicated ranged weapons

Remember, if you are in range, so is your enemy.
