Watercolour Memories

  Watercolour Memories

I would share memories of my childhood

  With my dear lady love.

Edited with humour, sans the fear and loss.

Things look so much better from a distance

And what is time but a direction

  Scars fade, wounds heal.

We don't remember pain for a reason.

And what pain there was, I have to say

  Was coloured in by joy

  A counterweight, so very great

Back when I was but a boy.

Perhaps it is cruel of me, to paint with half the colours

Or is it just a form of love

Not to give pain to another

For she has not had an easy life

Nor seen goals and dreams fulfilled

So I strip shadows from the canvas

When I share with her my world.
