Chapter 24: After the Storm

The battle didn't st long. The dust settled, revealing the aftermath of Reimu's devastating Fantasy Seal. The once grand Scarlet Devil Mansion y in ruins, its walls crumbled, and debris scattered across the courtyard. The scarlet mist that had bed Gensokyo was gone, leaving behind a clear, tranquil sky.

I stood amidst the rubble, feeling the weight of my neire powers and the exhaustion from the fierce battle. Reimu’s attack was terrifying... It was like the sky itself fell on us.

Nearby, Remilia and Fndre were huddled together, their faces serene as they slept in each other’s arms. They looked... peaceful, like sisters who had finally found soce. I smiled softly, feeling a strange warmth in my chest.

Patchouli stood frozen in shock, her eyes wide as she stared at the ruins of her library. Books were scattered, shelves shattered, and the magical energy that once filled the air had vanished. Koakuma was by her side, trying to fort her distressed master.

Sakuya approached us, her face expressionless, but her eyes were filled with remorse. “I deeply apologize for my mistress’ as,” she said, bowing her head.

Marisa waved it off, ughing. “Nah, it’s fine! Just do it again sometime. I’ll gdly e for another adventure!” She winked mischievously.

Sakuya blinked, momentarily speechless. “...I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that.”

Amidst the rubble, I noticed a peculiar figure snapping pictures with great enthusiasm. A tengu girl with a camera, her wings fluttering as she captured every angle of the se. She grinned when she saw me looking and gave a cheeky wave before tinuing her photo spree.

I sighed. Even here, the reporters don’t miss a beat.

Sakuya’s eyes shifted toward the destroyed mansion, her face growing pale. “The mansion... It’s pletely ruined...” Her voice wavered, the realization sinking in. She turo us, her gaze sharp. “So... who is going to fix this?”

There was a beat of silence.

Marisa’s eyes widened. “Ah, look at the time! I, uh... I gotta go! Magic experiments wait for no witch!” She bolted, leaving behind a cloud of dust.

I gnced around, only to see Reimu’s silhouette fading in the distance. She didn’t even bother to say goodbye...

  They... left me.

Sakuya’s cold, pierg eyes bore into me, a faint smile pying on her lips. “You’re the only o, Mister.”

I felt a cold sweat trickle down my spine. “W-Wait! I was just caught up in the fight—”

Her hand flicked, and a set of tools appeared out of thin air. “As someone who tributed to the damage, it’s only fair, right?” Her voice was sweet, but there was no mistaking the steel behind it.

I looked at the ruins, then at Sakuya’s determined expression, and finally at the still-sleeping sisters. I sighed in resignation. “Fine... I’ll help rebuild the mansion.”

Sakuya’s smile widened, her eyes gleaming with satisfa. “Good choice.”

I looked at the ruins once more, feeling the exhaustion in my bones. “This... is going to take a while.”

The tengu girl snapped another photo, her ughter eg through the destroyed courtyard. I shot her a gre, but she just grinned, clearly enjoying my misery.

Great. Not only am I stuck rebuilding a mansion... but I’m also tomorrow’s headline.

As I picked up the first piece of rubble, I couldn’t help but ugh. I survived a battle against the Scarlet Devil Sisters... but rebuilding their home might be the hardest challe.
