Chapter 22: Ice and Fire, Brother and Sister

  Mirage Carl dodged and weaved through Fndre's fretacks, his newfound vampirises allowing him to see her movements in slow motion. Each swing of her fme sword left bzing trails in the air, but he narrowly avoided every strike.

  Mirage Carl gnced down, suddenly realizing his appearance. His skin aler, his hair a shade darker, and his eyes... they glowed with a crimson hue. A chill ran down his spine. Is this... because of my lie?

  Fook advantage of his distra, lunging forward with a wicked grin. “Got you!” Her fme sword desded with blistering speed.

  “Watch out!” Reimu shouted, throwing a talisman that intercepted the attack just in time, the explosion of energy knog Fndre back.

  Mirage Carl jumped back, breathing heavily. “Thanks, Reimu. I owe you one.”

  Reimu’s eyes narrowed. “Expin. Now.”

  Mirage Carl ughed nervously, scratg his head. “Long story short... I actally became a vampire.”

  Marisa’s jaw dropped. “How do you ‘actally’ bee a vampire?!”

  Fndre’s ughter echoed through the hall. “Big brother is funny! I like him!” She raised her sword high, fmes swirling around her. “But pytime isn’t over yet!”

  Mirage Carl’s eyes widened as she unleashed a wave of fire, the heat threatening to e everything. He instinctively raised his ice sword, its freezing aura expanding to form a protective barrier. The fmes crashed against the ice, steam erupting in a blinding cloud.

  Marisa shouted over the noise. “Oi, Mirage! You better not die before expining everything!”

  Mirage Carl grinned, his eyes fshing with determination. “Wouldn’t dream of it!” He looked at Fndre, who reparing atack, her eyes gleaming with pure excitement.

  He took a deep breath, his grip tightening on his ice sword. “Alright, little sister... let’s py a bit longer!”

  The battle was far from over. But with Reimu and Marisa at his side, Mirage Carl was ready to face whatever came .
