WINC: The Audiobook

Still no book 2, unfortunately. However, I do have something it is entirely possible someone will be interested in, an audiobook version of book 1.

To clarify, this is an AI generated voice recording of the first book (I was not up to reading it manually). While this is something that anyone with the time, energy and computer subjugating skills needed can do these days, I thought making one downloadable here could simplify all that.

As someone with vast swaths of dyslexia, how easily I can acquire or make an audio version of a book has always represented a significant factor in if I could consume that book. That ease has changed a lot in the last decade, and it was nice to realize I can machine generate a functional audiobook now.

That said, it is still an artificial voice. I went to lengths to make it sound natural, but my tolerance to the uncanny valley of robo-speak is high. Hopefully someone will enjoy it, even if I cannot guarantee that will be you specifically.

As for book 2, more chapters exist. But the underlying challenge is that my mental health is a massive factor in whether I can write creatively (which, as we all know, has never been an issue for any other writer). I write at emotional highs, and the last few months have not provided many.

Book 1 was written in three chunks, consisting of first chapters 3-7 (hence why those chapters should likely be rewritten), then chapters 8-14, and finally chapters 1, 2 and 15-23 (because writing the first two chapters last is an important trick of the trade). The usual pattern (which applies to most of my writing) means I could start writing one day and finish book 2 in a few weeks. I just don’t know when that day will happen.

If you have any questions about the story or ideas for possible bonus content, please comment below. I get way too into writing explanatory text, so feel free to leverage that.

  See you soon, hopefully.
