Chapter 1: Jules

The rain was crashing down on me as walked to the record shop where I worked. When I walked in I smelled the warm vintage air. My boss, Iris greeted me with a kind hello. "Hi Jules! There isn't much to get done today so you can just get some homework done or play the guitar behind the counter. " "Ok, thanks Iris!" Iris disappeared into the back of the store, leaving me at the alone at the counter.

About a half an hour passed before the first customer came in. The day carried on and I switched back and forth from doing my homework and playing the old guitar. I started to get a headache which was normal for me, so I closed my eyes for a bit. 20 seconds after I had closed my eyes, I heard the chime of the door. I oped my eyes to make sure the customer knew I wasn't dead, and as soon I as I opened my eyes my headache was gone because the person who walked through the doors was a boy.

He looked about 15 years old which was good because I was 15. He stood in the doorway taking the warm smell and vibe of the store. "Hi, welcome to Rewind Records!" I said with a bit more enthusiasm than normal. "My name is Jules, let me know if you need any help!” “Thanks.” The boy said. I watched the boy flip through the records trying not to stare too much, but it was really hard. He had fluffy brown hair and deep brown eyes. He was a few inches taller than me and had a laid back outfit and overall vibe.

I watched him out of the corner of my eye as I pretended to do my homework. He walked past the U2 section, only glancing at it, but then he stopped, turned around and picked up an album. It was Joshua Tree. My heart stopped. Was he one of those fake fans who only knew one or two songs or was he legit?

He came out to the counter where I was to ring him up. “Joshua Tree. Good taste I see.” I said. “Wait, do you listen to them too. I’ve never met someone who likes the same music as me.” He seemed dumbfounded and absolutely amazed. “ “I play their songs on guitar all the time too!” He replied. I placed his album in a paper bag and handed him the receipt. “Well, I’ll see you around” he said as he walked out the door. After he left I noticed he left his receipt behind. I picked it up to throw it out, but I noticed some blue ink on the back of it. Axel :) (604) 867-5309. My heart skipped a beat. Was this even real? Was I dreaming, because it sure felt like it.
