  She was unquestionably one of the wisest people it has ever been my pleasure to know, strange as it may be for a parent to say of her own child. She was also the being most responsible for making an adult of me, and was probably -- certainly -- more a mother to her younger sister and brother than I ever was, or ever could have been; I was more like their Vulcan babysitter....
