Bk2 - Chapter 33 - Making A Splash

Pepper didn’t get much sleep that night. The conversation with Colonel Gambell practically played on repeat. He mentally kept coming up with comebacks and arguments that he wished he could have said to the mans face. He wished he could go back in time and do the entire conversation all over again. Eventually he found sleep and was awoken by the incoming holodex call from Brent.

  “Hey man, good morning.”

“Hey P-Dub….” Brent replied. Pepper immediately picked up on the sad tone in his best friends voice. He knew something was up, but also knew his best friend rarely ever opened up when asked. It would have to be something that Brent would have to do on his own. “You know it’s like 1030 already there right?”

Pepper tilted his head up from his pillow and saw out the window the warm rays of sunlight. “I guess it is.” He lowered his head back down and took in a deep breath. “I didn’t get much sleep last night, your call woke me up.”

He could see a sad look come over his friend. “I didn’t mean to wake you. I can call you back later if you want?”

“Naw man, it’s fine. I need to get up and work on Mala anyways. What’s going on with you?” He then noticed the Rocket Burger uniform Brent was wearing. The white brick wall behind Brent was enough evidence that Pepper was sure his friend was sitting over by the dumpster. “You on a break or something?”

“Yeah… I was able to pickup a morning shift and then I have my regular shift on top of that.”

“Holy crap man. I’m not going to lie, you look exhausted.”

“I think I have got like 62 hours of work in this week. Kyle Wilkinson came through the drive through the other day. He offered me some extra work out at the junkyard, so I have been putting in some time out there as well.”

The information of Kyle helping Brent wasn’t a surprise to Pepper. That was exactly the kind of thing Kyle would do. He always seemed so willing to help someone else out, especially in tough times. But Pepper couldn’t help but feel concern for his friend. Ever since Brent took his hard loss from gambling, it seemed like it was a slow downhill descent with no end in sight.

“Dude, you know you still need time for yourself right? Time to recover, relax. Heck, with all those hours, you’ve got to be making some good strides in the bank account, right?”

Brent grinned and flared his eyebrows for a second before turning them into a frown. “You’d think. But… we’re not out of the woods yet, as my uncle used to say.”

Pepper could read Brent’s demeanor and knew that he shouldn’t press him any further for those details. He then tried to change the subject and lighten the mood. “Well, how is your aunt doing?”

“Her cancer has come back. It isn’t looking good and she has been in a lot of pain.”

Pepper’s heart dropped even further. He didn’t know what he could do to cheer up his friend. “I’m sorry man. Is there… anything I can do?”

Brent shrugged. “What can you do? It’s not like you’re a doctor with a miracle cure. Cancer and Rift Poison… there is just no end in sight to those two.”

It was then that Pepper had an idea. He didn’t know how much was in his bank account at the moment, but regardless, he was pretty sure he had enough to swing an additional expense. “Well hey… Andrea is actually flying out here in a few days. What if I fly you out right after that and you can spend a few days here with me? That will be in the midst of the invitational and you can come watch me clash in a totally different arena.”

Brent lit up at the idea. “Man, I would love that P-Dub… but I can’t. I can’t afford to take that kind of time off work. That and I don’t know if being away from my Aunt is a good idea right now. Thanks though, I would have loved to have come visit.” Brent turned his attention to his holodex. “Well, my break is basically over. I should get back to it. It’s good to see you P-Dub, can’t wait to see you crush it in the invitational.”

“Thanks bud, you take care of yourself, and you keep your eye on the calendar for when you can come down and visit.”

  Brent chuckled. “Yeah, sure thing.”

The call ended and Pepper hated the fact that he was so far away. A quick reflection took him back to the same setting a few months ago, laying in his bed but within his own bedroom. He recalled the moment he was wishing he was away from home, away from town, away from everything. But now, after seeing his best friend in such down spirits, all he wanted was to be back there.

Pepper finally got out of bed and started to make his way to the workshop. He spent the vast majority of the day working on Mala, but it was worth it. By the time he ended the main body of his newly crafted golem was complete. He made sure to step back and take in all his hard work, the 15-foot-tall golem was one he was proud of.

Well… tomorrow I can start working on the rune cards… we’re almost there, Nightmare. He chuckled, turning the light off in the shop and started to head for the house. A distinct smell caught his senses when he walked inside. Who is…

He looked over to the kitchen and was practically shocked to see Wilson moving about. A thick vapor cloud billowing up from a pot on the stove. Pepper marched over to investigate and smiled when he saw the blue box of macaroni and cheese sitting on the counter.

“Oh, I see someone decided to take a swing at cooking, huh?”

“There comes a point in every boy’s life when he has to become a man.”

Pretty sure that day doesn’t revolve around cooking Squints… He thought to himself. “Nice, well, it’s pretty hard to screw up mac and cheese. Looks to me like you have everything under control.”

The microwave that was positioned under the kitchen counter adjacent to Pepper chimed. Wilson reached down and produced four ultra cooked hot dogs. “I just have to cut these puppies up, add them to the pot and my concoction is complete.”

Wilson started to reach for a kitchen knife and Pepper had to practically cover his eyes. His roommates hands had clearly never handled one before. Pepper was positive he was about to watch the hot dogs have an entirely different red coating other than ketchup.

“Do you want any help? Like… cutting the hot dogs?”

“I got it… I got it.” Wilson replied.

The counter argument of confidence was exactly the same tone and stubbornness that Meg would have replied with. Pepper started to turn away and just then he saw a shadow at the front door and heard a slight thud. A firm knock on the door occurred and both Amprage and Rattler began to bark and hiss in response.

He hushed them and discovered three large stacks of cases of Big Duck Energy. Pepper rolled his eyes and noticed there was a printed note along the bottom edge of the shipping label. Sorry for the delay, here is a fresh batch to keep your Big D pumped up! – Ryan.

He shook his head and muttered, “Phrasing Ryan…”

It took him a few minutes to transport the cases from the front door into the laundry room. It then dawned on him that he should probably do some laundry. He popped the washer door open to find what looked to be Marcus’s damp clothes just sitting in the washer. A quick check of the dryer, and there were more of Marcus’s clothes.

He sighed but started to remove the clothes from the dryer, piling them up on top of the machine. Then he transferred the laundry, started the dryer cycle and retrieved the clothes he needed to wash. Pepper had just finished loading up the washer when Wilson came in and once again threw his dirty clothes right in with his.

  “Squints I…”

Pepper didn’t get a chance to finish as his roommate spun around and was gone before he could finish. The only thing he heard was a call come out from the kitchen. “Dinner is ready and the match is almost on.”

Pepper balled his hand into a fist and brought it up close. The mental thought of punching the metal washer was tempting. But he let out a loud huff and took in a deep breath. It’s not worth it… it’s not worth it. He told himself.

A steaming bowl was waiting for him on the counter and Pepper smiled when he realized. There is no one in the living room! We have the whole place to ourselves. Wilson was already sitting on the couch and watching the holoscreen as it was about to show the next Golem League match. Pepper grabbed the prepared dinner and a soda and joined his roommate in the living room.

“Thanks for making dinner Squints. This is nice.”

Wilson didn’t even turn to look at him. “You haven’t even tried it yet.”

Pepper rolled his eyes; he was hesitant and a little worried at first. But he tried not to let that show and took a bite. Though the temperature was a little bit hotter than what he preferred, the flavoring was good enough to enjoy. “Tastes good, just the way mom used to make.” Wilson didn’t reply but simply remained fixated on the screen.

“Every minute, every hour, Golem fans, let’s feel this power! Huh? Am I right, or am I right? Let’s get this thing going, you know what I mean?” JD’s voice entered the broadcast with an electrified energy.

The camera was zoomed out just enough for viewers to see he was wear an overly large and puffy parka coat. But below that was what looked to be swim trunks and Pepper guessed were sandals. To JD’s right was Nick, and Pepper grinned to see that the commentator had broken away from his traditional business suit. It was a huge surprise to see Nick let his hear down as wore a straw hat, sunglasses, a bright orange and yellow patterned Hawaiian shirt, and short.

“Well hello to you JD, and welcome Golem fans watching all around the world.” Nick turned away from the camera and faced his cohost. “You’re certainly right about one thing JD… and that is feeling the power. We are certainly in for that today as we have a fan favorite returning to the arena with Dimitrios Gkirgkiris and what we assume is going to be his frost dragon.”

“Everyone loves to feel the power Nick.”

Nick chuckled while he adjusted his sunglasses on his face. “Right you are JD. But… what about our friend Dimi’s opponent? Amber Palmer from Australia… what can we expect out of her this evening?”

  “Beats me.”

The short answer left Nick with an appearance that a cat had caught his tongue. “Uhh, well okay then…. That uhh, wasn’t really what I was expecting.”

Pepper couldn’t help but chuckle but it looked like JD was given a little hint in his ear by the shows producer. JD’s finger reached up and pressed against his ear. A quick roll of his eyes were clearly visible to the viewers and he slowly removed the finger after the message was relayed.

“Well JD… from the looks of your outfit, it certainly appears you are rooting for Dimi and the Frost Dragon.” Nick said in an attempt to carry the show forward.

“Well yeah man, how can you not love Dimi? And… who the heck doesn’t love a good dragon, but not only that a frost dragon! You know what I mean?” JD stopped and it appeared that Nick was about to say something, but JD continued.

“Now to go back to your question Nick… “What do we know of Miss Palmer? Well not a whole lot. You see, the last thing we have heard is that Miss Palmer abandoned her Queen Vampire golem and has been working on something super secretive.”

JD’s hand shot out and grabbed Nicks shoulder briefly before he motioned back towards the camera. “You know me Nick… I got secret squirrels all over the Golem League that give me the juicy details on what’s going on behind the scenes. Who is working on what… What is the next big thing we can expect… but when it comes to Miss Palmer, I seriously don’t have any idea… that leaves me rooting for what I do know.”

“Well okay JD… what do you know and what do you suspect we might see?” Nick asked.

“Okay Nick… what I know is for wielding an artic cold dragon golem, Mr. Dimi Gkirgkiris has a big giant heart and I’ll be cheering that guy on from now till the end of time!”

Nick chuckled, “It certainly appears so JD. Well golem fans, let’s get to the action, and if you couldn’t tell by my attire at least. We are here in gorgeous shallow bay of Langkawi Malaysia. The Asia Isles setting us up for this amazing Immortal League action.”

The camera faded over to the drone which flew at a fast pace over the pearl blue waters of the bay. A slight sway left and right as the drone flew in between the large, jagged rock boulders sticking up above the water line. The scene looked pristine, and Pepper imagined what it must have been like to feel the ocean breeze upon his face.

He made a mental note to investigate how far away they were from the coast. His mind quickly imagining he and Andrea sharing the moment of experiencing the ocean for the first time together. The idea brought a large smile to his face. He plunged his fork into the macaroni and cheese and then turned back to the screen.

A slow tilt of the camera on the drone upwards and the frost dragon came into view. The grey coloration of the dragon had what looked to be white edges along the metal paneling. The dragons wings were collapsed inward and lowered down, coming to a rest on the sides of the golems belly. The dragons tail dragged behind it and caused a large ripple in the water as its four legs kept marching forward into the arena’s starting position.

The dragons eyes glowed in their light blue coloration. But Pepper immediately tuned in to a new feature Dimi had added. A row of spikes which started at the back of the head. They continued to run down the dragons neck and even down onto its back and tail. There was an inlay in their design, however, one where it appeared to let the blue energy flow down each one of the spikes.

Pepper didn’t know if they were heat vents, or had some type of imbued effect. But either way, the illuminated effect was one he appreciated. That small touch in a golems design which showed the continued pursuit in optimizing performance and cosmetic design all at once.

The camera shifted up to show Dimi was on the gladiator platform, his black trench coat was blowing in the wind. His black tactical pants tucked into dark combat boots while a wore a bright white shirt underneath it all. Dimi lifted his operator’s interface helmet up and lowered it onto his head. A faint orange color glowed out and onto his neck the helmet powered up.

There was a slow sway in the camera angle and it panned over to show the opposite platform on the other side of the arena. Dimi’s opponent Amber was standing in its’ center, but to Pepper’s surprise, there was no golem to be found.

A quick shift to a different drone feed which was closer to Amber, and Pepper could see she was powered up and ready to clash as well. Her DIVII Storm Falcon interface was shining bright pink against her skin and matched her dyed hair. A blue jean cut off jacket with a bright neon pink short sleeved shirt. Her black cargo shorts came down just passed her knees and she finished off her look with what looked to be combat boots.

“Well, this is certainly odd JD… there…. Well, should be a golem somewhere in sight. But uhh…”

“I got the tingly dingly’s Nick! My skin is crawling with anticipation, you know what I mean? I can feel it, we’re in for something ep…. Oh shnazzies!”

Pepper’s eyes widened and his heart skipped a beat. For there on the screen they watched as a wall of water slowly rose up from the ocean. The water began to shape itself and formed four limbs, its exterior skin fell downward as if it was a walking waterfall. But Pepper could see that something was causing the water to pull itself upwards and continue to feed the forming of the water.

“We have ourselves a water golem JD! Haha!” Nick voice said with electrified excitement.

How? How is that even possible? Pepper asked himself. His hand lost control of his fork and it felt into his dinner bowl, landing with a clank. He stood there at the kitchen counter, practically frozen in disbelief. It just doesn’t make any sense!

Pepper was so perplexed by the sight of the newly formed golem that he didn’t realize the match timer had ticked all the way down. The starting horn blared into the arena and the warning pulled Pepper out of his partial trance. His eyes were still locked on the water golem though.

In the blink of an eye the water golem fell and crashed back into the ocean. The golem completely disappeared into the large body of water. The camera started to scan around the arena in search of where or what the golem was going to do next.

The view panned around to show Dimi’s frost dragon. The massive golem took a step forward, but seemed to hesitate and await for the water golems next move. It was only a few seconds later that they watched a massive fist of water rise out of the ocean.

Pepper could see that the fist was practically the size of the frost dragon’s head. It didn’t move with much speed, but it was close enough to Dimi’s dragon that his golem didn’t have time to evade the strike. In a fluid motion the fist fell towards its target and slammed against the dragons’ face.

The frost dragon’s head leaned to its right side, adjusting for the force. The fist of water immediately dispersed with a splash once it connected with the dragon. But it was clear that Amber wasn’t over with her attack, for a new fist of water arose from the ocean. This time off the dragon’s right side and countered the initial strike with another massive blow.

The frost dragon started to back pedal. But Pepper didn’t know what good that would do, seeing how it was completely surrounded by water. The dragon started to turn and shift its weight, as it did Pepper could see two clenched hands of water rise out of the ocean. They continued to grow in size and he could see their intent was to perform a hammer fist motion and rain down a blow from above.

Dimi continued to spin his dragon around and in a perfectly timed moment he shot his left metal wing out. The dragon wing sliced through the wall of water and appeared to sever whatever connection the appendage had to its handler. The water came crashing back down and Amber appeared to abandon the attack combination she had planned.

It looked like the frost dragon was starting to generate as much power as it could. The blue coloration of its power core was starting to grow in intensity. Pepper was sure that Dimi was generating the power to take flight with his dragon, but his opponent appeared to have the same belief. For they all watched as six tentacle like arms of water began to lift themselves up and out of the ocean.

One of the arms wrapped around the dragon’s tail, another began to grab hold of a leg and Pepper was sure they were going to try and pull the dragon into the ocean depths, practically drowning the golem in its effort. He was just as curious as he was worried, for he could not recall ever hearing of a golem being drowned in an arena battle.

Pepper watched as the frost dragon’s limbs looked to buckle as it fought the force pulling it downward. The massive dragon was so heavy that it was at a disadvantage. But the camera flashed upwards and zoomed in close enough to see just through its visor. It catch the confident grin on Dimi’s face and Pepper knew this fight was nowhere near being over.

A quick shift back to the arena and Pepper watched as the frost dragon opened its mouth. The metal plating running down its neck flared open, exposing the bright glow of energy flowing throughout its’ body. The golem roared to life and sent out an ear shattering cry of acoustical power. It was clear to see its effect as a cone of audio waves pulsed forward with such force that it parted the waters. Its effect growing with every foot that it traveled.

That was when Pepper and the rest caught sight of a three-dimensional rhombus shaped metal container. Pepper naturally leaned forward in his chair, snapped his finger and pointed towards the holoscreen. “There it is! There it is!” Once the acoustic attack finished, the ocean rushed in and once it touched the metal container it appeared to come back to life. The water around it being forced into the containers will.

“Is that it JD? The source of Amber’s golem now exposed for all to see?” Nick asked with excitement.

“I would say so Nick, our first glimpse at the heart of Amber’s water golem. This is also one of those things that fans rarely see. Remember, most golem’s power cores and runes are dispersed all throughout the golem’s body. But! The arena itself is her golem’s body. I mean, this is crazy man, just unreal!”

The frost dragon was now free from the water tentacles as Amber’s water golem began to regrow itself. It extended its wings and started engage side thrusters as it took its initial flight. The water spread out as the mighty force the dragon generated pressed downward and fought gravity.

It had lifted up a few feet off the surface of the ocean floor when Pepper saw its opponent start to form into a new shape off in the distance. Pepper immediately recognized the form of the shape as a large military gun turret. Its’ canon like barrels pointed directly towards the frost dragon in flight. Though there was no noise of an explosion, its water barrels flashed with a white and grey light. Large cylinder-shaped projectiles streaked across the arena and spiraled towards the dragon.

Each round slammed into the dragon and knocked it backwards. The golem appeared to be struggling to maintain its flight while it worked to counter off-set the impact from the rounds. As the water now fell from the metal exterior of the dragon, Pepper could see there were clear indentations from the rounds impact.

Those canons pack a punch… He thought. His eyes then widened when he saw two additional turrets appear in other area’s of the arena. How is she able to have multiple turrets like that? This is insane.

Each canon fired off in rapid succession with each other. A fresh volley of rounds streaking towards the dragon, but Pepper could see that their accuracy in this second salvo was far less accurate. A cone of fire appeared to be an attempt to contain the dragon, rather than precisely targeting it.

To Pepper’s amazement, he watched as the dragon collapsed its wings and twisted in midair. Its body immediately dropped down and spun fully around in unison with its landing. The water shot up from the massive golem slamming back into the floor of the arena. The movement was nothing short of being an impressive evasion from the volley of water rounds.

The water cannons fired off another salvo. The dragon, however, and finished its spin and had pointed its head towards the first turret. A bright blue ball of energy formed in its mouth and then shot out. In a flash it streaked across the arena, a trail of disturbed water in its wake and arrived with a slammed into its target.

The energy didn’t just destroy the turret, but rather had a freezing effect, the particles of water flying out from the destruction were actually shards of ice. Pepper remained fixated on the spot where the turret was once formed. The water now settled around it enough for him to see there appeared to be a small ice burg now in its’ place.

  That ice blast is powerful…

He didn’t have time to think any longer on it as yet another salvo of water shot fired off. At the same time that they had, Amber formed another two turrets, adding on to the two which still remained. The frost dragon had already extended its’ wings though and displayed what appeared to be an artic frost pattern of inlays and etched channels on the under side of its wings.

It was practically in an instant that Pepper watched the etched patterns and inlays illuminate with the bright blue energy. A forward flap of the metal wings sent the light surging forward like a magical wave. The water projectiles slammed into the blue wave, the projectiles turning immediately into powdered frost while the wall continued to travel a great distance before finally fading away.

“That’s one epic frost wall Nick!” JD exclaimed

The camera quickly shifted over to Amber. Her head gave a slight nod of appreciation for the competitive match both gladiators were locked within. The screen shifted back to the arena. It now looked like the frost dragon was about to take another shot at a turret, but then it stopped.

“Dimi needs to watch out JD! Look what is forming behind the frost dragon!” Nick warned in surprise.

The water surged upwards from the ocean in the form of what appeared to look like a faceless Aztek warrior. A giant spear in its right hand with a clearly separate dagger hanging off a belt wrapped around its waist. Pepper was simply amazed at how meticulously crafted the water became is it took shape with whatever Amber instructed it to.

The water golem started to charge towards the dragon, at the same time, the turrets fired off another salvo. Pepper noticed the rounds again became less accurate, two of the projectiles falling short, one to the far left and the other slightly high. He assessed it was all due to Amber handling the targeting herself.

His mind flashed with the thought that if this had been her strategy, she should have tried to add an artificial intelligence assisted targeting system into her operator interface. Or, even look into adding a targeting control module within her rune control card which would automate that process. That would allow her the ability to focus purely on her direct melee combat.

His attention turned back to the match just as the Aztek water golem leapt up into the air and brought its spear forward in a mighty thrust. The frost dragon’s wing blocked the spear, but then opened its mouth. A blinding white and soft blue energy shot out from the frost dragon’s mouth.

“Prepare for your nipples to get hard Nick, cause here comes a frost beam!” JD called out just as the beam made contact with the water golem.

It looked as if it took less then a second for the water golem to be completely frozen in place. The spear still extended out from the golems arm and Pepper couldn’t help but admire how much detail had been captured during the freezing effect. The water now turned to ice and they could make out the chiseled shapes of muscular structure Amber’s golem once had.

A quick flare of the frost dragons tail. The tip flashed its mixture of white and soft blue light. Pepper could then see the edges of the tails edges looked as sharp as a sword. The tail sliced through the ice sculpture and sent shards of ice particles splashing into the water.

There was no time to celebrate though. Amber now able to devote her attention back to her targeting system. A new volley of rounds were already fired off and by the time Dimi’s dragon finished its rotation it was caught by two of the rounds. A few of the metal armor plates failed from the impact and went fell at the dragons feet.

Dimi didn’t wait for Amber to make the next move. The frost dragons wings opened up and with a mighty thrust the golem took flight. Pepper thought the dragon would fly towards the turrets, but was surprised when he saw the dragon kept soaring higher and higher.

“Well, this is certainly a surprise JD! Dimi’s dragon is taking flight, but he must be careful not to break the arena boundary or suffer a costly penalty.”

JD’s voice quickly followed Nick’s statement. “You’re not wrong Nick, but don’t forget that the league extended the ceiling of the arena’s this year. An extra thousand feet now gives these gladiators a lot of room and options.”

Every second when Pepper thought that Dimi would turn and adjust his golems course, continued to surprise him when it didn’t. The dragon’s height now was of such elevation that the power of the water gun turrets was struggling. Their energy requirement needed to keep a solid trajectory of the rounds was more than what Amber appeared comfortable with.

It then appeared that Amber was about to conjure a new water golem to combat the dragon, but that was when Dimi adjusted course. The frost dragons body appeared to have reached the edge of the arena boundary. It twisted around in a full rotation, its’ body moving with such precise agility that it appeared lifelike once again. There was only a second before the dragon finished its rotation and turn, now headed directly down into a nose dive.

“Hold onto your nut sack Nick! This is gonna be close!” JD yelled out over the broadcast.

The frost dragon opened its mouth and sent out a frost beam directly down and into the arena’s ocean floor. The water instantly reacting and generating what appeared to be a giant pillar of ice. Every millisecond that passed gave the appearance that the pillar was practically doubled in height.

Pepper was now worried with what exactly Dimi’s tactic was, but that was at the same moment when the dragon began to rotate forward. As it did, Pepper could now catch sight of the dragon’s feet. He had ignored them the whole time, but as the dragon began to twist, he caught sight of the fact that they themselves had a frozen appearance of dry ice. Vapor and mist appeared to be lofting off of them as the dragon maintained its barrel roll.

The dragon’s back was now facing the arena floor and then connected to the ice pillar. The massive golem instantly began to shatter the tower it had created on its decent. Chunks of ice went crashing down into the water all around. The golem still able to continue its barrel roll and finished its rotation with the two magically imbued feet slamming into the water.

A shock wave streaked across the arena and the arena floor rose up as if a meteor had impacted the earth. The force of the dragon’s impact was so great that a wall of water shot out in all directions, but was followed by a field of ice. Pepper couldn’t help but imagine the dragon having landed on an alien ice planet of some kind.

He had never seen anything like it, but then realized that he was probably not alone either. A water golem, the first of its kind to start, and now there stood an dragon on a self-made ice island. Pepper knew that Dimi had to have trained for hours to get the timing just right, but there was no time to celebrate the achievement.

The wall of water was dispersed from the arena so much that it exposed exactly where Amber’s three-dimensional rhombus shaped golem core was. There was only a split second before the water would return, encircle the core and allow Amber to evade and recover. The frost dragon’s head snapped directly in line with the core.

It spread its wings out wide, the blue light glowing, but appeared to almost be acting in reverse. Rather than generating energy to attack, it looked rather that it was pulling energy in. Gathering and absorbing every ounce of ethereal energy it could. The blue eyes of the frost dragon grew with more intensity than Pepper had seen it in the past.

He removed the core limiter! He’s overclocking the power core! Pepper thought. He wanted to let his mind speed through the rule book, but at the same time he couldn’t turn away. Every crack and crevasse of the frost dragon was beaming with the blue energy.

The mouth finally opened up and let out a pulsating beam of light. Its power and intensity so great that they could hear a crackling intensity. A noise which sounded like a combination of ice being crushed and electricity buzzing across high rise powerlines.

The frost beam attack shot out in a cone shape, the further it went, the greater the effected area grew. Pepper was amazed as the power Dimi continued to pour into the attack was now creating an island of pure ice. Jagged edges of ice shot directly upwards towards the sky as the beam continued to pour itself in the direction of its’ opponent.

It was then that Pepper realized he had been holding his breath and reminded himself to take a deep breath. The attack still continuing for another few seconds until the frost dragon finally stopped. It closed its mouth and to everyone’s surprise, the dragon fell to the arena floor. There was some movement which informed Pepper that the dragon was not out of the fight, but looked to have spent every ounce of energy it could that it actually diverted power away from its other systems.

The camera then snapped over to show that Amber had removed her gladiators visor. The victory horn blared and the screen shifted over to show Dimi’s arms were outstretched above his head. His hands balled into fists of victory.

“It’s over! It’s all over! The frost dragon has taken out one of the most unique golem’s we’ve seen in years JD!”
