Interlude: Ren Incantum 31

“It is said that when Galdri the First Goliath, known to some as the mountain king, first saw Atlas, the day Atlas killed him, he bowed his head in reverence, accepting in his final moments that he was undone. Some even say that in his final moments, he prayed, not to the gods, not to Lusilus as he had done so many times before, but to Atlas. Of this, I’m uncertain, but I know now at least the final words he’s rumored to have said were true, ‘They said thee were gone, purged from this realm by forces beyond ourselves. I know now the folly they instilled within me. They said the man I sought could raise mountains from nothing. They said the man I sought could split the sea and heavens with a word. But ne’er did they show that they held this power, lied instead that they were almighty, and I the fool to believe them…so it is you…then I shall have my fate, lord…I have left everything to my boy, Feln. He has not fallen as I have. Please take care of him.’”
