Chapter Three
She walked out of the building with a pale face, walked to the intersection, and finally sat down on a chair by the side of the road. She closed her eyes, and the sound of the wind passed by her ears.
The phone rang, and after two rings of the ringtone, she finally came back to her senses and realized it was her own phone.
"Hello?"
"Let's just say I'll have Zhang Yue bring you over tomorrow. I've given him your number and he'll be in touch with you."
"Okay."
"Where are you now?"
"I'm outside."
"Have you just finished work?" He Bai asked.
"I have something on."
"By the way, don't forget to turn it on."
"Okay, see you tomorrow."
A university classmate for three years, Ning didn't interact much with people in her class. Apart from studying, she also had a part-time job and hardly participated in any class activities.
He Bai Chen is the class monitor, and for Ning, who doesn't fit in with the group, He Bai Chen sometimes has to take matters into his own hands. Over time, the two of them have become somewhat familiar with each other.
It was on the second day that she changed into a water-blue dress, clean and tidy. After all, she was going to attend someone's birthday party, so she couldn't wear anything too casual.
Zhang Yue came to pick her up, and Ning only found out when she was talking to him on the phone.
The distant sound of a whistle came, and it was Zhang Yue's car in sight.
Zhang Yue couldn't help but take another look at Ning Shi, his eyes lingering on her calf for a few moments.
"Get on the bus."
She's a cold beauty in the eyes of men. There were boys in her class who wanted to pursue her, but ultimately gave up. She wasn't not turning on her phone, she was just working or studying at the library.
"How many classmates did the monitor invite?"
Zhang Yue turned his head and smiled at her, revealing a mouthful of big white teeth, "You, me."
"Ah!" Ning was startled for a moment.
"Don't you feel especially honored? The class monitor thinks so highly of you."
Just feel headache.
When she arrived at the hotel, she didn't even want to get out of the car. She was muttering to herself, it's not a big birthday, why make such a fuss. The best hotel in X city, luxurious and grand, all the guests coming and going were extraordinary people.
It seems that some rumors about He Bai Chen are not entirely unfounded after all.
Entering the hall, I saw He Bochen's figure. He was dressed quite formally today, with a elegant demeanor, and walked towards them with a leisurely pace.
"You're here. They're all inside." He Bochen said, looking at Ning.
It wasn't until then that she realized Zhang Yue had been fooling her.
All the classmates in the class have arrived, and Ning is secretly sighing that the monitor has a good relationship.
"Oh, it's you, you've actually come."
Ning Xi smiled and found a corner to sit down. Everyone played their own way. Ning Xi listened to them singing. Someone shouted at her, "Ning Xi, what are you singing? I'll give you some points."
He shook his head repeatedly, "I won't sing."
"Cut! How is this possible!"
At mealtime, Ning sat at the same table as He Bai Chen. Ning didn't say much and quietly ate his food.
When I was halfway through eating, someone came in.
The private room fell silent immediately. Ning didn't seem to notice and continued eating. Just as she was about to put a piece of cha siu in her mouth, she looked up and saw the man.
"Brother——" He Bai Chen shouted.
"Come over and take a look, you and your classmates have fun." He Baiyao said to him.
It turned out to be the person from the elevator.
After dinner, Ning handed the gift to He Bai Chen, "Class monitor, happy birthday." A set of bookmarks, delicate and generous. "I picked them out at a bookstore."
He Bai Chen took it over, with a soft smile at the corner of his mouth. "Thank you. I also brought you some travel souvenirs, I'll give them to you later."
"Ha ha, Class Monitor, you're really great. No wonder everyone in our class supports you so much." She thought for a moment, "Class Monitor, was that person who just came your brother?"
He Bai Chen nodded, "My uncle's son."
"Oh, I met him once in an elevator, what a coincidence."
He Bai Chen held back his smile and didn't tell him that the company he introduced her to was actually his brother's. It wasn't strange at all for her to meet He Bai Yao there. He Bai Chen didn't spell it out.
"Anyway, I've taken a look at the time, 'I'm going back, you guys have fun.'"
"I'll see you off with them."
"No need. I can go back by myself." After saying that, Ning turned around and left.
He Bai Chen just watched her gradually disappearing back, he was dazed and lost in thought.
Before long, it was the end of August. Ning's colleagues in the office suggested that she come here for an internship as early as her senior year and then stay at Huanyu afterwards.
She said with a smile, she misses him quite a bit.
Although Huan Yu is not a state-owned enterprise or a central enterprise, the salary and benefits here are even better. However, she quite wants to stay in school, which seems more stable. Her mother was a middle school teacher before, and it seems that this way is closer to her mother. She silently sighed in her heart, let's talk about it later.
She was led to the 28th floor, and she was somewhat perplexed, but too embarrassed to ask. Had there been a problem with her work? She looked again at the words on the door: "General Manager's Office".
"Mr. He is inside, you go in yourself."
It's just that he felt inexplicably strange. He gently pushed open the door, and a man was sitting at his desk, slightly lowering his head, not knowing what he was looking at.
"Excuse me... Hello..."
He Baiyao raised his head, and for a fleeting moment, there was a look of astonishment in his eyes. It was him!
He Baiyao put down his work and said, "Miss Ning, please sit down."
She sat on the sofa next to him, despite his awkward greeting. The leather sofa was soft and comfortable to sit on, but she had no time to enjoy it.
He Baiyao walked step by step in front of her.
"Is there something you want from me, Mr. He?" asked Wei Jin tightly.
He Baiyao had already looked through her information and found that her background was quite ordinary, no wonder Third Aunt was having a headache. "I am He Baichen's paternal cousin."
He nodded slightly, but didn't know why he wanted to tell her all this.
He Baiyao saw that her expression didn't change, and the corner of her mouth slightly chilled. "Bai Chen is still young and not mature enough in his actions."
Her heart suddenly tightened. The air-conditioned temperature in this spacious office was very low, and her back suddenly broke out in a cold sweat.
"He had Secretary Zhang arrange for you to come to Huan Yu, I just found out recently too."
Either with both hands tightly clenched, face tense.
He Baiyao's gaze lingered slightly on her subtle movements, "Miss Ning, Bochen's future has already been arranged by his parents. He should be going abroad in the second half of the year, but now he seems to have changed his mind. Do you know why?"
He puckered his lips and said, "Mr He, what do you want to say?"
He Baiyao hooked up the corner of his mouth, "Miss Ning, you and Bo Chen are not suitable."
She stood up at once, her cheeks hot and her heart full of grievances, but she stubbornly hid them. "Mr. He, you misunderstood. I and Mr. He Bai Chen are just classmates, I'm very grateful to him for introducing me this job. That's all." She said word by word with neither humility nor arrogance.
He Baiyao fell silent for a moment, "Since that's the case, I think it's best if you and Bo Chen can clear things up between yourselves."
Whether it was from the beginning when her mother passed away and moved to her uncle's house, she didn't receive any less cold stares. Her self-esteem had been trampled on since childhood, she got used to it, but it still hurt deep down.
She looked at He Baiyao, and there was no emotion in the depths of her eyes.
He Baiyao saw that she was no longer speaking and slowly opened his mouth, "You go out."
Either going out of the office in a daze, her eyes gradually became moist. Turning back to look at his office, Ning glared fiercely. What elegance and success are all nonsense.
There is still a week left, Ning gritted her teeth and persisted, thinking that she would never come to Huan Yu again, even if she was carried by eight people.
She scolded He Baiyu inside and out.
As she walked into the hall in the morning, He Baiyao happened to be there too. Ning hastily turned around and hid far away.
He Baiyao naturally saw her. He Baichen was still making trouble at home, and San Shu opened the phone for him, meaning to let him discipline that girl. Unaware of the height of heaven and earth.
He Baiyao furrowed his brow. "Secretary Zhang, let Ning leave the company."
Secretary Zhang was taken aback, "Oh oh, okay."
In the afternoon, someone from the Human Resources department informed Ning that she didn't need to come tomorrow.
"What's wrong?"
"It's been decided above." The man replied to her.
"Or gritting his teeth, 'This month's salary...'"
"Just wait and see, you will be notified when the time comes."
Ning didn't say anything else and headed back to the office, starting to pack up her things. Her colleagues knew she was leaving and didn't say much either, "Ning, come visit us when you have time."
It's better to just smile.
It was getting late and he left the office on time, but outside it was pouring rain. Ning didn't bring an umbrella, so she sat in the lobby waiting for the rain to stop. But the rain just kept getting heavier, with no signs of letting up.
Either she walked to the door and retreated, or finally walked back and forth in boredom. The sky was dark and gloomy, Ning was afraid that her family would worry, so she dialed a phone call home, but no one answered the phone.
She paced back and forth in the hall, thinking today was a terrible day.
