Dr. Arlen looks in on his patient. Rex was now restrained to a straight jacket. After st nights tirade he couldn’t take the chance of having him hurting himself before they escort him to southern New York to the mental health clinic. The parents of young Mr. Mitchelson were taking their son to a private care provider. The doctor had encouraged them to consider the same one young Mr. Jolson was going too, but they insisted on their choice. Mentioning that they never should have moved to this town in the first pce. They never did give a reason.
Rex sits in a corner slowly rocking back and forth. The doctor had to have the air to the room shut off. Rex would start going crazy whenever he heard the noise of the air coming in through the vents. On top of that he hasn’t said a word since yesterday’s tirade. Since ‘the wind’. Which still boggled the doctor’s mind. How could the wind scare someone this badly all of a sudden. He assumed Rex had grown up outdoors for a good part of his life, everyone has. His newly found ancraophobia stumped him.
“Dr. Arlen?” One of the nurses calls out. He turns around. “Rex’s father is here.”“Thank you.”“And uh…” The nurse goes on.“What is it?”“Those two feds from st night too.” She says shying away.Great. This is getting better and better. “All right, thanks.”
The doctor walks to the nurses station located by the elevators on this floor and sure enough, Mr. Jolson was with Agents Kenin and Maverick. Mr. Jolson was still wearing his suit from his job at the mayors office, and a rather nasty scowl as well.“Mr. Jolson. Gd you could come.” The doctor says offers his hand and wasn’t surprised when Rex’s father ignored it.“Take me to my son, now.” Demand in Mr. Jolson’s voice.
“Sure, right this way.” Dr. Arlen leads the men to the door to Rex’s room. Dr. Arlen knocks softly on the door and opens it slowly.Rex starts huffing and getting anxious, shaking his head as tears begin to fall from his eyes. The doctor hated to see someone so young become like this. Mr. Jolson bumps past the doctor and runs for his son.“I’m here son, I’m here!” Mr. Jolson pleads as he takes Rex by the shoulders.
“Daddy?” Rex cries.“Yes son, it’s me. It’s your dad.” Mr. Jolson pulls his son close into a hug. After a few moments, Rex calms down. Enough anyways. “Rex, we need to know who did this to you. Okay? Who?” Rex’s dad asks, looking Rex intently in the face.Rex starts crying and mumbles the wind again.“Rex? I need to know who did this to you. Who were the st people you saw before the wind did…whatever it did to you?”
Rex just stares at his father. After a few moments he mutters three names. Paul, Ivy and Chris. Stumbling with all three names. Dr. Arlen spots Agent Maverick writing the names down in a notebook.“Can you tell me their st names Rex?” Mr. Jolson asks his son.Rex goes into another fit of crying and carrying on.“Okay, everyone, that’s all for today. Let’s leave Rex be for now.”
Mr. Jolson stands up and eyes the doctor, burning a hole right through him. He doesn’t let Rex’s father get to him. He’s had to endure harsher looks from disappointed patients and retives of patients, so Mr. Jolson was nothing. Part of the job.“We’ll go over the school registry tomorrow morning, see if we can narrow down some possible suspects.” Agent Maverick tells Mr. Jolson. “We’ll let you know anything we find out. Mr. Jolson and the two agents start walking toward the elevator.
“And I hope that the appropriate punishment will be handed out?”“Yes. Soon as we find out who did this, the guilty party will be dealt with.” Agent Kenin says. The doctor didn’t like that, he had to ask. “Excuse me, but… Dealt with? What does that mean?”“It means the appropriate measures will be taken to apprehend the person or those involved with the incident.” Agent Maverick tells him. “Thank you for your time, doctor.” He adds then disappears with Mr. Jolson into the elevator.
Dr. Arlen just shakes his head. He looks to the nurse sitting behind the counter of the nurses station.“Those guys are scary.” She says apprehensively.“I don’t know who I feel more sorry for. Rex and his buddies? Or the ones who did what they did to them?”

“Mom, I’m home!” Chris calls out as he walks in the door to his families house. The others and Mrs. Prowman right behind him. All of them walk into the living room. His mother comes out from the hallway to the right. “Hello everyone. Hey Chris, welcome home. You have fun this weekend?” She gives him a hug.“I had a bst.”
“Chris is welcome anytime.” Melissa tells Chris‘ mom.“Hey, mom? Can they spend next weekend here?” Jerry asks, excited.Mrs. Prowman shrugs her shoulders. “I don’t see why not. I’m sure your father wouldn’t mind.” She looks to Ariel. “Is that okay with you?”“Sure. Seems only fair.”
That made Chris’ week right there. He wonders if they could make this a weekend thing. Staying at each others houses every other weekend. Probably not, but Chris was gd for the new friends.Chris’ mom offers to make snacks for everyone but Melissa says they have some chores and stuff to do then say their goodbyes. On the way out Chris catches Elle give him an quick wave and a wink. He returns an simir quick wave and smile. When the door shuts, his mother puts an arm around him. “So, what have you two been doing? Hmm?”
Damn it. She would have to have seen that. “Mom?!”She ughs. “It’s all right. Your growing up, hun. Elle’s a pretty girl…” His mom says, embarrassing him.Chris interrupts and fakes a big loud yawn. “Oh, man am I tired. Gotta big day at school tomorrow. Lots of homework to do.” He grabs his things and heads upstairs. “Gotta study hard.”He hears her snickering as he walks to the stairs and heads to his room. He just shakes his head…parents.
During dinner, his dad asks how the weekend with the Prowman’s was. Chris tells him about all the fun; the stream incident, the elemental training they were able to do and the over all fun. His mom giving him a sly smile while they talk. Chris just rolled his eyes…internally.Later, after a shower and brushing his teeth, he heads to his room to go to bed. His mother comes in a few minutes ter, knocking on the door..“Hey, sweetie.” She says as she walks in and shuts the door. Chris takes a seat on the bed. “Sorry for embarrassing you earlier.”“It’s okay.”
“Seriously, you know your growing up, sweetie. It’s okay to have the occasional dirty thought. Your at that age now when you see and feel things differently. Especially girls. We‘ve all been there.” She runs her fingers through his hair. He liked it when she did that.Chris sighs. “We’re not having, ‘the talk’, now are we.”She ughs. “No. No ‘talk’ yet. But it is coming soon. But if there is anything you wanna talk about. You know you can always come to us. As embarrassing as it may be.”
“I know.” He does want to ask her about that spark thing him and Elle experienced. Aww, hell. “There is one thing.”“What is it?”“Me and Elle. Well, she hugged me st night. Thanking me for helping her. And our powers fred a bit. They did it on their own.”“Well, that would be…” She pauses a moment. “Wait. You said you
Ariel looks away, contempting. “I’m not sure. I’ll let your father know and see what he thinks. It sounds familiar, but I’ll ask him anyway.”She has him y back and pulls his covers up. She leans down and kisses his cheek. “Get some rest. Keep us posted on the spark thing okay.”“I will. Night, mom.”“Night sweetie.”She turns and walks to the door, switching the light off and shutting the door behind her.
He y there in the dark, remembering the feeling of his power fring. Doing so brings Elle to the forefront of his thoughts. He smiles and rolls over to go to sleep.
