“Even If It Hurts, I’ll Keep Trying”

She was about to reach her home, but it wasn’t very far away from now. She could see a cemetery where she lived; she was 40 mins away from Hiroshi's house. Although it was getting quite windy all of a sudden. She had thought to herself in a calm demeanor, I thought it was getting cold, the wind was getting quite heavy today. The wind made loud sounds, “WOOSH, WOOSH,” the wind pushed her hair up with a strong breezing cold of whispers.

She went and turned towards the cemetery where they buried her friend, she said, “I’ll find the answer of you’re promise from Hiroshi.” She smiled quietly to herself, as the wind was their whooshing in as the calmness of the presence from the tomb. It was quite peaceful to the point where she could feel that someone was happy and up in the tomb. Kenji's girlfriend then was happy and said,” I hope you happy life in the afterlife, friend.” The sky was about to become darker from the clouds, but instead, she left before that could happen.

She walked towards her house, seeing her mother, she said,” Welcome home, Haruka, my daughter. How’s you’re friend doing in the grave?” she said in a saddened tone. Haruka said,” she been doing good, I’ve been checking her each day.” The leaf came in and filled the air with a smell that smelled good. She was calm and stood on the floor on the fron at the closed door. She said,” I’ve been working hard mom,” She replied,” That’s good, Haruka. Have you been turning things in?” Haruka said in an exhausted tone,” I haven’t mom yet.” Mom gave her a scary gre, but funny, and she said,” Make sure you’ve done you’re homework, huh?”

She then said,” Don’t worry mom I’ll finish it no matter what and go home,” then she walked upstairs.

While the side of the wall lights nearby the wooden gss, it was golden with the gss. It was quite dark, and the wooden ceiling was filled with cracks, with webs all around. She was about to reach her room, which was not far away. It was on the right of the second floor, and Haruka stood at the right of her door, ready to open it. She then opened the door, and it went, “ GRRRRK…” The room was quiet and peaceful. She got her notebook and wrote equations in the math subject. She said to herself in a calm muttering,” Math is hard since Kenji, my ex-boyfriend, made me fail math, almost did though.”

When the clouds finally darkened, sounds began emerge,” pitte-pattery,pitter-pattery,pitter-pattery.” She heard the sound and said,” oh it began to rain now It took a long for to rain, I thought it was It would rain before I came to the house, I saw the tomb and thought It would rain that time now,” as she reflected on the tomb only to the clouds a little more brighter and less dark, she let out sigh,” phew, that was close call one their I thought it would rain a lot but not this,” she spoke her head in relief that the rain didn’t came before she was home now that she is here she could enjoy finishing her homework.

Time passed by, and she was writing journals that said,” wake up before Hiroshi gets out, and to get a head start before him to say sorry.” She was writing in her journal to finish her st work earlier, and then she went back to the equations in math, solving many, but some were complicated to her since she wasn’t doing homework since the beginning of school in Japan. She said in an exhausted tone,” I never knew that math could be this hard if you didn’t study….this….hard.” She was by herself, doing nothing but staring at the bnk paper.

While she stared at the bnk—paper—she then afterwards said, “It matters not, because if I don’t put my homework in, I won’t—go—to—school,” she then added,” If I am serious enough, what will my mother think?” She was lost, figuring out how to finish her homework, but then she remembered her friend's smile. That brought the lightness to her heart from the impact of the smile. It was so bright that it would bring tears to her heart. Afterwards, she let out a tear that dropped from her eyes. It was a peaceful tear that screamed happiness. She then added,” If ever we were to be reincarnated, I will treat our bond as friends,” as it matters to become more just friends, but friends who understand each other.”

When her thought snapped out, her mother was standing there with a smile that was with care and love. She said to Haruka,” You have been working hard, my dear. I want you to keep trying even though it hurts.” She walked away, leaving her eyes to widen from the impact of what her mother said towards her. She added,” You speak as if it were easy mom, I hope I had the same mindset as you, but I don’t.” The only thing left was her reflecting on the past—mistakes—she —made.

She then said,” There is still hope for me to pass high school if I work hard enough to go to college.” A fshback of her mother going towards the ke, she said,” Haruka, you see this ke, it connects along the river, it’s pretty because nature serves its purpose in life.” Haruka said,” Is nature a hero, mommy?” The mother gave a proud smile that was peaceful, and she said,” yes it does, Haruka. It's a hero, Haruka.” The river washed up on the shore,” shhh, shhh,” the waves of the ke washed up on the shore.

The rain was quite heavy, and you could hear it falling down from the top of the—roof—it was te at night, the clouds had fully darkened to such an extent that no eye could ever see outside in darkness. Haruka turned on her mp,” flip,” making sure that her room was not covered in darkness. It was the beginning of the night that was bound to come. The mp was old but was good for nights. It had webs and white, ripped cloth on the top that covers the mp around the rim of the metal circle. Her eyes were exhausted from the homework she been doing. It’s been past 2:00 pm, she's been working nonstop, she said in exhaustion,” just one more,” she was almost complete, if only to find herself sleeping while talking to herself,” just one more, just one more,” over and over. It was heard from the mother's room.

She was confused about why she was repeating that same response, the words for this 4hrs straight. She then walked out of her way into the same room just see if she was sleeping, but when she opened the door, she saw her head down on the desk while she was sleeping. The mother grabbed the homework and snuck on top of each other, she then said,” Good night,” while she smiled and turned off the mp,” flick.” It’s dark, nothing to see but the external darkness that spreads across the room like wildfire. Time passed like a clock was ticking in seconds as she fell asleep waiting for time to pass the clock reply by the seconds sound of its hypnotizing ticking.

By the time it reached morning, the sun started coming up, and it was quiet and peaceful as the birds started to fly towards her window, ying their nest. They looked up at her, and they looked curious, but then afterwards, she felt something on her shoulder. It was the friend who died at a young age, she said,” It’s time to wake up.” She felt the brightness of her words that caught like a reminder of happiness, and she quietly arose from her slumber

She remembers thoughts of seeing Hiroshi today, and she said,” I forgot I have to get up and see Hiroshi.” She rushed downstairs, packing up faster and getting ready her bag and an umbrel. She said,” Bye—Mom.” When her mother heard this, this was unexpected, such wordsmade her calm, but remember when she heard those up til now she’s never said such words, afterwards she closed the door, seeing her walk out and only finding herself smiling to herself while hearing the echo of the click of the door, while she stumbled across a fshback that arose towards her mind.

The moment that her own daughter was beside her, smiling while the waves went upwards, moving against the shore, making marks on the sand, was there for a long time that was timeless, the sun shone bright, as bright as the crimson bde of the sword, the sky sparkled like raining gems of crystals that made the sky beautiful like it was been a lost memory of the mother she gave a smile that was peaceful as the sun was beside her that made her lost her thought,” Bye—mom,” that was that was the only time she heard that she say words like that the soft trinkle of the water washing up the shore made her realized amidst the simplest words make person happy as the bell ring on the thought and made her snapped back to reality.
