The World Beyond the Walls

The southern gate of Halverin opened with a deep, grinding creak.

  Ren paused before crossing it.

Behind him, the city still breathed beneath the protection of the Eternal Field. The streets were quiet, but not empty — Sealers watched from rooftops, towers, and narrow alleys, alert to any distortion in the air.

The invisible aura left by The Forbidden lingered like a barrier woven from time and light.

  Ren turned one last time.

The wooden houses. The abandoned field. The place where he trained with Kael.Where he lost his father.Where he grew up.

All of it now seemed small compared to the world waiting beyond.

“Don’t look back,” Kael said quietly.“If you do, you’ll hesitate.”

  Ren inhaled deeply.

  And stepped forward.

Beyond the walls, the world was different.

  The wind was colder.

  The sky felt wider.

An ancient stone road stretched ahead — the Path of Valkaen — cutting through hills, dense forests, and valleys drowned in mist.

According to the Sealers, it was the safest route to the coast. From there, they would cross the sea toward Arkaelis — the continent where the Sealer’s Fortress stood.

But “safe” was a relative word.

“Do you feel it?” Ren asked.

  Kael nodded.

“The pressure… The world out here is more unstable.”

With every kilometer, subtle distortions appeared.

  The wind shifted without reason.

Shadows lingered longer than they should.

The ground vibrated in uneven pulses.

As if the world itself were fractured.

  They passed abandoned villages.

  Broken doors.

Walls carved with strange sigils — remnants of ancient Abyssal breaches.

In one silent street, Ren stopped.

A small wooden toy lay forgotten in the dirt.

  He picked it up.

  Held it for a moment.

Then placed it gently back where it was.

  They continued walking.

That night, they camped beneath towering trees whose leaves reflected moonlight like sheets of glass.

  The forest was too quiet.

  Ren lay awake, staring upward.

  He couldn’t sleep.

In his mind, the system still burned.

  STATUS — REN ARKEN

  Origin: ??? (Unlocked)

  Access: Locked

He didn’t know what it meant.

Only that something inside him was waiting.

  Not attacking.

  Not guiding.

  Watching.

  Kael’s voice broke the silence.

“From now on… everything will try to kill us.”

  Ren stared at the stars.

  They felt distant.

  Indifferent.

“Then we get stronger,” he said.“Or we die trying.”

The wind passed softly through the trees.

  Far away—

  Something moved beyond sight.

  Not close enough to strike.

  Yet.

The world beyond the walls did not offer answers.

  Only trials.

  And the first one…

  Had already begun.
