  Chapter 18 Part 3: Confessions and Fears

  A noble who kept pure for the sake of his fiancée never touching other women was almost unheard of.

  But there are no "ifs." For reasons unknown, Prince Angus had lost to a man named Lu Fei. His fiancée and her elder sister both belonged to Lu Fei.

  "As, Your Highness there are many flowers in the world. Accept it."

  Mourning the prince for a few seconds, Kent returned to a bnk expression. Such things were beyond a guard's purview. He only hoped the prince's heart was strong so that learning the truth wouldn't break him.

  They reached the battlefield.

  Kent pointed to a wide expanse ahead. "We'll arrive soon. Lady Anna please persuade His Highness to retreat."

  "Mm."

  Anna didn't refuse. But whether he would listen, she couldn't say. If not for Lu Fei's assent, she wouldn't have come. That engagement had to be dissolved. Anna didn't care outwardly, but she feared Lu Fei might. In this life, she wanted to marry Lu Fei in full daylight properly be his wife.

  Arriving at the camp, the carnage stunned Kent. Tents in tatters, blood on the ground but no sign of His Highness or the imperial troops.

  "There was a battle a sughter."

  "Kent you heard?"

  Angus cleaved a lizardman in two; his golden armor was red with blood orc blood. That morning, the orcs had unched a surprise attack on the imperial camp while the troops were cooking.

  To their shock, the imperial scouts had defected to the orcs, catching them off guard. The bloodbath sted a long time. Angus and his knights had spent most of their mana. The soldiers fared worse many were hacked in half by orcs then chewed and eaten; the fierce orcs seemed impervious to pain and kept fighting.

  The imperial troops were terrified falling back step by step.

  "Is the reinforcement here yet?"

  The orcs' level?8 powerhouse hadn't even joined the battle and his forces were already in tatters. Angus felt anxiety but stood firm and fought.

  "No no sign of Kent's adventurer reinforcement!"

  "Damn!"

  "Must we die here?"

  "Everyone you are nobles. Follow me charge! Kill! I, Angus, have not fallen. I will live and die with you!"

  "Fight!"

  "Fight to the death!"

  "Fight! Fight! Fight!"

  At Angus's call, the imperial troops rallied and found their courage again.

  One knight looked around at the horror, fear clear. "Your Highness we should retreat. The orcs still have tens of thousands. We have only a few thousand left!"

  Before he finished, Angus sshed his neck.

  "Those who break morale die without mercy!"

  "Soldiers follow me fight to the death!"

  "To the death!"

  "Kill!"

  Angus was afraid too but thinking of her smile and her beauty, courage surged within him.

  Anna I will live and return to you.

  Then I will marry you.

  If I cannot I will die here.

  To preserve a prince's honor.

  As he fought, a massive axe streaked red into the battlefield.

  "Ah!"

  Five knights were cleaved in half at once dead.

  With the axe's descent, a towering orc over two meters stepped onto the field. He hefted a broad axe and, in one blow, knocked back Angus and his guards.

  Angus's pupils shrank his sword arm trembled.

  "An orc level?8 powerhouse!"

  At st he had appeared.

  "Roar!"

  The minotaur roared at the sky gripped the axe and lunged for the strongest Angus.

  The humans were nearly spent time to reap. If Angus died, the imperial army would crumble.

  Angus understood.

  "Never!"

  His eyes fshed with an ancient crest mana exploded from him he broke through to level 7.

  They cshed at once.

  But within minutes, Angus was losing ground. The minotaur was level 8 and even with the King's Blood's power, Angus could not resist for long.

  "Roar!"

  Seeing the human still resist, the minotaur howled his eyes turned scarlet and a crimson aura fred. This was the orc's unique skill Berserk. Boosted, he reached the peak of level 8 and shattered Angus's sword with one swing.

  "Pfft!"

  Angus went flying like a kite with a cut string and crashed hard.

  The minotaur roared in triumph. With a leap that shattered the ground, he rose high and brought the axe down at Angus's skull.

  Eyes widening, Angus felt a chill and despair surged.

  "Anna… forgive me. I cannot live to return. I have gone back on my word."

  He shut his eyes and waited for death.

  Suddenly a holy light smmed down flinging the minotaur's axe away.

  "Rumble!"

  An explosion sounded alongside.

  "It's Kent's reinforcement!"

  "Reinforcements!"

  Cries of joy rose.

  Angus opened his eyes. A figure in silver armor stood before him. That familiar face made his heart burst with joy.

  "You're Anna, right? Anna my Anna!"

  "Sorry I'm not yours, Angus, little brother. This weak unfit to be my fiancé."

  Anna gave a light ugh and swept Esther's holy bde around. In an instant, several level?5 orcs were decapitated. Around Angus and Anna, a vacuum formed.

  "Protect yourself, Angus if you don't want to die!"

  With that, she leapt and flew into the fray. Like a goddess of war, her silver armor shone with divine light her bde mowing orcs like grass without a speck of blood on her.

  Angus stared, dazed eyes full of longing. Anna his fiancée so strong. Most importantly, she had come to save him.

  A smile rose unconsciously to his lips.

  Then his guards reached him lifting him up. "Your Highness bdes do not discriminate be careful!"

  "Is that our reinforcement? What a powerful woman!"

  "Rumble!"

  As Anna cut, a handsome bck?haired man hovered above with a short rod bombarding the orcs.

  It was Lu Fei.

  He merely pointed downward and a crimson orb dropped erupting and any orcs caught in it were turned to powder.

  "Your Highness order a retreat. Mr. Lu Fei and Lady Anna are going to clear the field!"

  Kent ran up, breathless.

  "Lu Fei?"

  "That man?"

  Seeing Lu Fei, Angus's face changed unease tightening in his chest. What was his retionship with Anna? And why did he look so much like Angus?

  "Your Highness order it. Our soldiers are mixed with the orcs Mr. Lu Fei can't unleash himself."

  "I understand. Soldiers retreat clear the field!"

  "As you command!"

  Minutes ter, the soldiers regrouped fighting as they withdrew.

  Anna swept in, sword humming splitting the orcs from the imperial soldiers.

  Then

  A great magic power swept the field. All eyes turned to the figure in the sky. The orcs froze instinctively fearing.

  A bck orb about two meters across condensed at Lu Fei's wand.

  "Explosion Magic Explosion!"
