He took out another jar filled with oil from the cart and spread the oil on all of the farms. He came out of the farms while being half drenched with oil himself and threw a stick lit with fire at the farms. He sat on the cart; he glanced at the farms burning with a smirk and rode away towards his house.
People who were trying to extinguish the fire spotted smoke emerging from the farms.
“Go to the farms, they’re also burning,” shouted a man trying to extinguish the fire
Some people ran towards the direction of the farms while holding a bucket filled with water.
Ivaan reached his house on a cart filled with unconscious people. He jumped from the cart and went inside the house. He glanced all over the place,
Where is it? I kept it in a safe place, but where?
He paused for a moment and glanced down at the floor.
I know where it is.
He went inside a room where different types of ingredients for the potion were kept. He glanced all around and then glanced down at the floor of the room, which was made of wood. He crouched down, he spotted a wooden plate that was loose and was coming out, and he lifted the wooden plate and found a book wrapped in leather cloth.
He picked up the book and quickly started turning its pages one by one.
Where is it? Where is it? It should be here, found it!!
There was a ritual written in the book to resurrect a dead person. He rushed towards her dead mother and gradually removed the cloth from her face.
“See mother I found it!!!!” he said with a big smile on his face and tears dropping form his eyes, “now I can bring you back, I only knew that we have to sacrifice a few lives of people in a resurrection spell but I didn’t know to how to perform the ritual but now I know how to do it and I promise you mother I will bring you back from the dead.”
He came outside his house and stared at the cart filled with unconscious people,
I need only 5 lives for the resurrection spell, but what will I do with the other people? I can use them for other rituals that involve the sacrifice of human lives, and I will keep them chained and feed them as we do with the goats.
He picked up 5 men from the cart, one by one, and put them inside his house. He chained the other men with the goats outside his house and started preparing and collecting the ingredients for the rituals.
The people tried their best to extinguish the fire set on their houses and farms, but they failed badly, and all of their farms and houses burned to ashes. They all gathered in the center of the city,
“This is definitely the work of the witch. We killed her, and she turned into an evil spirit, and she burned down all of our farms and houses to take revenge on us,” said a fat man standing in the crowd
“What should we do?” asked a woman crying
“We killed and burned the witch,” a man said from the crowd, “but we left her house unharmed, maybe that’s why she didn’t die completely”.
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
“Then we should also burn her house like we burned her,” said a woman from the crowd, and the whole crowd cheered.
The whole crowd started walking towards the witch’s house. Ivaan was thoroughly reading the ritual from the book so that he would make no mistake while doing the ritual, but still, he was having some doubts about the things written in the book.
I hope this ritual works as my mother told me, because I can’t live without my mother.
He took a knife and cut everybody's hand, including his mother. He collected all the blood dripping from the bodies in a big bowl. He dragged the bodies of men one by one and placed them in such a way that their heads touched each other, and the legs of the bodies were facing in five directions, equally separated.
Then he took the blood from the bowl and drew a circle around the bodies in such a way that their legs were touching the circle. Then he lifted his mother’s body and placed it on the heads of the bodies, then he poured all the blood left in the bowl on his mother’s body.
He took out 5 candles from the cupboard, placed the candles at everybody's feet, and lit them up.
Everything is ready. I think I should start reciting the spell.
He sat while bending his knees in front of the circle, placed the book in front of him, and started reciting the spell. The people reached outside the house of the witch, and they found some men tied to chains lying unconscious between the goats.
“Oh my god, how did they reach here, and who tied them to chains?” said a man from the crowd
“Still, you are not able to see, our houses and farms got burnt, and these men tied to the chains are all the doings of the witch,” said the fat man, “we have to burn the house to lift the evil spirit of the witch before it destroys anything else”.
“What if it doesn’t change anything?” said a smith from the crowd
“What are you trying to say?”
“What if there is another person who is involved in all of this, and he is the one to be blamed for?” said the smith
“So, are you trying to say that witch did no wrong?”
“No, she absolutely did, but we killed her, so it's possible that all of this is done by another person.”
“Well, that’s possible,” said the fat man, “but tell me who will have such hatred towards us that he will burn all the houses and farms, it can only be the witch because she is the one whom we killed, and she did all of this for vengeance”.
They caught the sound of Ivaan reciting the spell,
“What’s that noise?” asked one woman from the crowd.
“It’s coming from inside the house,” said the fat man, “I told you it is the witch, it’s her evil spirit trapped inside the house”.
“Okay! Okay! Quiet now,” said the smith, “first release these men tied to the chains and take them to the town”.
“But what about the witch in the house?” asked the fat man
“Some of us will go inside the house to see who is reciting these spells.”
“Are you out of your mind? What if there’s a spirit of the witch inside the house?”
“Firstly, spirits aren’t real.”
“I still don’t understand the meaning of it,” said the fat man, “if we know someone is doing spell work inside the house, then we should burn the house from outside, what are we waiting for?”.
“What if there’s nothing like that happening inside the house, hmm?” asked the smith, “We will not kill someone until we aren’t sure that the person is the culprit.”
“But we killed the witch when we didn’t have proof of her crimes.”
“We did that because she accepted that she is a witch,” said the smith, “and we all know what witches do, so we didn’t need the proof of her crimes”.
“I don’t have any option except following you, even if you are right or wrong.”
“Good, you understood on time, otherwise the consequences could have been terrifying,” he said, “enough of talks, we should enter the house”.
All of them entered the house cautiously without making any noise. When they went inside the house, they saw a man sitting on the ground, five dead bodies facing in different directions lying down in front of him, and the sixth body placed on top of the other bodies.
Chills run down their spines,
“I told you that it is the evil spirit of the witch inside the house, but you didn’t listen,” said the fat man, “now she is possessing a man to get her vengeance upon us”.
“I regret to say it, but you were right,” he said
“It's okay, but now you should listen to me,” he said, “Currently, the witch is possessing the man. If we kill the man, then the witch will not be able to do anything. You need to believe this time, otherwise we all have to face the consequences.”
Smith slowly moved towards the man and stabbed the shovel, which he was holding in his hand, on the neck of Ivaan, “I’m not going to repeat the same mistake again.”,
Ivaan’s body fell on the top of the dead bodies placed in front of him,
“Now one can plague our city,” said the smith holding a shovel in his hands
