Chapter 22 The bigger they are...

Chapter 22 The bigger they are…

After cleaning myself off with water magic on the third floor we decide to rest for a while. There's no telling how many floors this place has, it could be five or twenty. After our rest we continue onwards, cutting our way through the dungeon with relative ease, everyone else was around lv 12 by now, leaving me in the dust. We quickly made it to the 5th floor, where we all managed to level one last time as we stood before a giant door.

“This must be the boss room. Once we kill it, we should be able to destroy the dungeon core. All we need to do is smack it a few times and it should break, we'll need to hurry out after though, the dungeon will collapse in a day.”

We sat down to rest and I opened up my status.

[New skill learnt! Danger sense. Anticipate any deadly blows coming your way-at higher levels you'll get a distinct feeling where the attack is coming from.]

While resting I decided to invest my three levels of stat points.

  [Status]

  Strength 80

  Agility 110

  Intelligence 143

  Endurance 100

  Mana 116

A surge of power fills me as the stats apply, my focus on agility with this set of stats made me feel extra nimble, like I've just stretched. We all take a solid 8 ish hours to sleep, us being underground made it all guesswork. Standing before the giant stone door we all took a minute to actually stretch, go over our equipment and make sure we were prepared. Derek had gotten ‘small regen’ when he hit level 10, where his passive healing rate was increased, Jean had gotten lifesteal, where he got a small bit of healing and stamina from every hit he made with a dark blade infused attack. Alice and Sarah had simply gotten a small buff to their casting, Alice for healing and Sarah for mana conservation. At level 7 I was looking forward to my next class skill or buff.

  “Are we all ready?”

As I spoke, the others all nodded one after another. This dungeon had been great for polishing our teamwork and personal ability, any hesitation we might have had was stripped away with our relentless fighting. Alice in particular was becoming something of a battle maniac. I could have sworn that she had a smile on her face as she was ripping the heart out of a hobgoblin with her bare hands. With Derek at the lead we entered the room, weapons ready. Just like on the second floor we entered a dark room, with torches blazing to life as the room was revealed. With the last torch lit the body of a giant ogre was revealed, standing at 20 some feet tall he towered over us, a quick Appraise revealed this.

  [Ogre lv 27 High threat.]

“Derek, Alice, keep him busy! Jean, go for his legs! Cripple him! Sarah, slow him down with ice magic!”

I ordered the party as i ran to the side of the ogre, with quick footsteps i reached the wall. I jumped up once, and using my momentum and sky jump i ran along the wall, after getting behind the ogre I pushed off and did another skyjump. Landing on his back I stabbed into the monster and began to climb up.

After I had made it a few feet from its neck it roared, slamming into Derricks sword with both fists, Derrick held his ground, his sword weakly held from his hands as a sharp Crack of Alice's barrier magic had made the blow go from lethal to crippling. Jean took the moment to hack into one of its legs, staggering it as I made my way to its neck. I stabbed once before its hand wrapped around me. Snarling the ogre threw me into the wall, Alice quickly put a barrier in between me and the stone as I also sky jumped once to slow my momentum. I flew through the barrier and hit the wall with a crack. My leg was burning as something snapped. Gritting my teeth I used light magic to heal as I crawled back up, Jean single handedly keeping the Ogre busy as Derek was tapped out and being healed by Alice. Sarah kept pelting the ogre with ice spells, eventually drawing its ire. With Jean forgotten its heavy footsteps marched her way.

“SARAH MOVE!” I yelled as I began to cast a spell I had only tried once. With a crackle a lightning bolt flew from my hands, barely missing Sarah and struck the face of the ogre, making it stumble and take a knee. “JEAN NOW!” Wasting no time Jean hacked deep into its leg, a powerful blade of darkness ate into its flesh as the ogre fell.
