Arc I, Chapter 2: Sword and Ice

At some point Kirven left the Tavern. He wandered the street of the town. Isn’t as busy during morning or noon. Eventually it was Night time, yet Kirven still continue to wander the street of the town. He moved through the alleyways, he place his sword in a strange spot where no thinks to look at.

Once he arrive his spot, he climbed the wall of house, to the second story window. On top of the frame, there was his sword. No one had noticed or grabbed his sword. Which for Kirven was expected for him. He dropped back down to the cobble, and walked to the outskirt of town

It was a Half Moon that shined down on him. With his sword, and book he still carried around. He was ready to start training for real. Opening the book, unsheathing his sword. He attempted to mimic the movement he did not that long ago. His form was not great it was more sloppy with the sword.

“Jeez im not getting anywhere if my movement is sloppy. But its like the book expected me to already he physically active” Kirven pondered aloud to himself.

“Lets try this just one more time” Said Kirven, flipping a page. Reading from the book, he mimicked the poses and connected the movement the positions.

“I need to train for at least 2 hours” Kirven told himself, he tried to train as long as possible. Even when exhausted he kept pushing.

He was too exhausted to keep going once the Moon was reached it highest point. He dropped to the grass resting. Despite the workout he still wanted to keep pushing. But he knew he was going to be sore if he continued for even 10 minutes.

Taking rest was equally important as training. He knew magic was another thing to train up, so he decided to train magic for an hour.

“I remember my Tutor saying ice magic is pretty strong. Although its only strong when you have a highly developed form of ice magic. Early development ice magic, can be weak at some times. But I work with what I got” Kirven spoke aloud to himself.

Kirven pushed himself up, his feet pressing into the grass. Taking out his hand and channeling energy into his hand. Only a ice shard would form. Although this ice shard doesn’t melt by the human touch.

“An Ice shard, basic but should make a bigger shard. So its more usable” Kirven told himself. So he attempted to channel more energy inti his hands to create a bigger ice shard. Attempt after attempt the biggest he will get was one bigger than his hands.

“Magic probably doesn’t come to everyone, I know i can do this.” Said Kirven trying to motivate himself from failing. One a attempt, channeling energy into his hands to create an ice shard as big as his hand. Impressive but it wasn’t bigger than the previous.

“Now I wonder how do people manage to create ice pillars with ease, this is like kinda hard to do. My hand do feel a little cold, its probably cause I was holding ice in my hands” Kirven spoke to himself.

The Night was still Young, but the moon is descending slowly but surely. There isn’t a lot of time before its a new daylight. But Kirven still refused to sleep, but maybe a bit more training will help him out.

He training until the moon was covered by the Mountains of the North. But this point Kirven was exhausted practicing his swordsmanship and trying to use magic at the same time. He collapsed into the ground, he rolling his body. His eyes looked up into the sky. Drowsy he fell asleep into the green fields.

The New Light shine above him. It was early noon he’s not only hungry he felt sore after training a bit to much. Kirven pushed himself, his arm sore from yesterday. Luckily no one noticed him on the fields yet. So he picked up his sword and book, and moved as fast his body allowed him to.

He reached the town, no one pay much attention to his scurry. He slowed down once he reached the main road. Some people walked this road, some ride wagons or horses through this road. He slowly moved through the road, despite his hurry to eat something.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

“There it is the tavern, just a few more steps until a nutritious meal” murmured Kirven. He moved to the tavern and push open its doors. He ordered his usual meal, then took a seat.

Once at the tavern he start relax a bit more. His posture and expression. He would get his meal and while eating and drinking, He notice a little commotion, but he didn’t pay much attention to it. So while eating and ignoring the commotion. The commotion brew into a fight, it was pretty one sided. The other was knocked out and was bleeding.

Kirven raised his head when he heard an crash on the floor. Only to see one of the men on the floor knocked out. But still he didn’t care what was going on. He paid for his meal and left the tavern.

“Why was I in such a rush, it no like would be killed for being out in the fields.” Kirven muttered to himself.

Walking through the main road, not much happening. He carried his book and sword. Despite this he was content walking through town, even without an friend.

After walking through like half of the town. He noticed someone on the ground, with someone kneeling right next to him. A white robe man was using healing magic! The man on the ground did have an near severed arm. But the white-robe man was capable of healing this man back up like it never happened.

The white-robe man stood up right, and walked away. Kirven thought that man might be an serious man. But even then would did that arm even end up severing his arm, but he wouldn’t question it at all. He would just walk on by.

Kirven didn’t know what to do, he just wandering alone through the town. With no thought in mind. Kirven to check with his tutor to he if she had any training for today if not he will wait till the next day. So with that, he turned around and back track his way out of town to his Tutor usually spot.

Walking through town, he reach the edge of town to find city guards? What are they doing in a town, and why are they arguing with the town guards. Has something happened where city guards are called in. Kirven tried to walk around the guards but they noticed him.

“Hey you, the… man with dark purple come over here” Yelled the city guard. Kirven turned his head to the city guard. He literally the only person with purple hair. Although being put on blast by a city guard tend to not be the greatest thing, especially in front of a small group of people.

“Why are you calling me” replied Kirven, his hair was more of an blackish color. But Kirven guessed you can probably see the Purple in his hair.

“Yes you, have you seen an group of bandits around this place” Responded the City guard in a harsh tone.

“Bandits no, i haven’t seen bandits” Kirven confirmed, so the city guards are worked up just for bandits seriously. Kirven tried to turn around but the city guard had one more question.

“Also have you seen this man around this town, he is overdue with payment to the government” the city guards are pulled out an Poster of an Stern man with small scars on his cheeks. From the looks it probably wore a robe.

“Uh… no? I haven’t seen anyone like that” replied Kirven, are they implementing taxation on the people that new. But also strange. The city nobles are rich already, why would they want to tax the common people.

“Are you lying cause you don’t sound too confident about your answer” commented the city guard.

“Yes yes, im sure i have not seen that man” reassured Kirven. Kirven though to himself that can be many different people. Although he did see someone similar not to long ago.

As the city guards attention move to the crowd, Kirven. Took the chance to leave the scene. Fortunately he remained unnoticed. Walking through the grass, and ascending the gradient of the sloped-cliff. He reached his Tutor usual spot. There and behold, his Tutor was there reading even more.

“Good Afternoon Tutor, I came to see if you have any lessons to today. Although it looks like you have not prepared anything” spoke Kirven, speaking like he was friends with his tutor.

“Hello there Kirven, your guess is correct. I haven’t prepared anything for you. The lesson will be tomorrow afternoon, so don’t miss out.” Replied the Tutor, she flipped the page on the book.

“What are reading this time” pondered Kirven, as he analyzed the book cover.

”it just a book about basic Element magic” Responded the Tutor.

“So you are reading about the basic, but why are you doing so” Kirven questioned.

“Without the basic you can’t go into the Intermediate or even Advanced level spells. You need a starting point and without one you can’t go anywhere” said the Tutor.

Kirven took in the word especially the last sentence, it related to his eventual journey he was going to take. So he decided to take her words for heart. Despite how much his tutor refused to give any information about herself. Kirven still consider her Special.

So Kirven decided to hang out with his Tutor, telling her everything that happened during the day. Kirven knew there was nothing to else to do. The sun came down, sunset. A new day comes with next experiences or the same old habits.
